“Change the landscape of wrestling” - keeping some WWE legends busy before their eventual HOF induction and producing maybe 5-6 young stars that’ll debut in NXT by 2024 Cody went away and came back bigger, but a lot of that is the idea of him going away and becoming bigger moreso than AEW actually elevating him. AEW didn’t. Time, distance, and some word of mouth did it.
I wouldn’t say he was only a midcarder before leaving WWE, multiple title reigns, pop culture exposure from working with Stephen Amell, exposure OUTSIDE of pro wrestling! This whole “AEW made him a star, not the WWE” mindset is some tribal BS, even AEW fans know better. Being in the WWE is what made him a “sombody” to begin with. And that’s not tribalism, that’s the factual truth. Who was he before?, other than the little-known son of Dusty Rhodes?
He was totally making more money in aew. Wwe must have made him a great offer if he jumped ship again. How many wrestlers did they have to fire to pay him.
Its amazing to compare this as well when you realise the crowd would be singing his theme but also the whoah is missing, a lot changes in wrestling, even with fans

I member when Cody Rhodes was facing Seth Rollins before in 10 years ago. Seth Rollins doesn’t know how to beat Cody. I member when they used to wrestle each other before for the Intercontinental Championship in 10 years ago Cody Rhodes has been beaten him more often. Then how Seth even survive he has a long history rivalry but he did say things to personal to guy’s like John Cena, Dean Ambrose, Rey and his son Mysterio, Dolph Ziggler for many times, The Big Show. I love Seth but he does need to learn not to take things to personal. Cody also came back before since 15 years ago!!! 2007/2022 WELCOME BACK CODY!!!!!!
