I think the only reason I didn’t have bleeding or lose my hearing as I used to have swimmers ear as a kid which was very painful and wouldn’t go away 3 days. So I guess my ears were used to pain? But since that flight my ears are very sensitive to loud sounds that are very close to my ears.

Hearing Dan's horror story scares me, because I was in the beginning stages of a cold coming back from France, and though I didn't experience anything like that, it freaks me out. I thought it was just the traveling/different climate.
I know that one guy in my youth orchestra got a really nasty sinus infection or cold or something while we we on tour in France last year. The irony was, he'd been mocking the French health care system the night before (he is very obnoxiously political and his parents are doctors or something) and he had to be taken to the doctor and experience it firsthand the next morning. Couple other people got sick too. I don't think any of them had the issue Dan did on our flight home though. However a Canadian couple had a baby that threw up on the flight. He was a relatively ok child otherwise.

the sick thing scared me because i just came flew back from italy and i had a head cold for the entire trip and felt better the day of the flight so i was way close
The first time I went on a flight i was pretty sick and had a lot of congestion and when they started the landing my head started hurting so much it felt like someone was constantly punching my head and I could barely hear every time my ears popped I'd get a sharp pain, so now I feel like a real dumbass now that I know i could of gone deaf😬
