The purple "whip" gun is the most bad ass gun in a top down shooter ever. God DAMN I used to play the hell out of this in the arcade as a kid!
kinda reminds me of cable's hyper viper beam from Marvel vs Capcom 2.

I loved the purple lazer as a kid but it really made you get absorbed into the game because you had to button smash to keep up the max damage...Later as a lazy adult , i prefer the spray red weapon. I worked up too much sweat with the purple weapon and once you die, its like the purple aint even worth it in the later levels to button smash.

I played this game for several years and never once learned of a secret 1UP! Impressive plays good sir!
This game is really beautiful. You have to appreciate the level of detail especially for the the time it was made. Just look at the subtle little details like a crashing aircraft hitting a building it is actually rendering a authentic crater and building damage. Or all the shrapnel hitting the different surfaces. It's a shame it is only available on so few systems.. ie PS and arcade :P

Yeah Raiden 2 and Out Run were the games that blew my mind at the time they came out, they were pretty ahead of their time.

I love how this player gets through level 4 with the purple snake laser and large missiles. Although the Vulcan and homing missile combo is the mainstay, this game is so well designed in terms of weapon balance that there is room to use all the weapons in a run. That's not always the case in games of this era.

Such memories, bashing the keyboard and the arcade button so many times to get the purple whip to activate, even though the whip being a weak weapon, I remember two planes getting behind each other, one blue one purple power up and shooting stars and destroying the battlefield, such tactics we used to use and still spend all the arcade tokens to beat the levels.
Ive been adicted to this since 1995, i used to play at some malls using slot coins

진짜 내가 초딩때 라이덴 씹고인물이였는데 이 사람은 진짜다. 진심 고인물을 넘어서 생산노동직에 100% 기계와 일체화가 된 실수 오차범위 1% 밖에 안되는 로봇 그 자체다. 마지막 단계 우주에서 맨날 죽어서 마지막 스테이지 그 한단계 빨간 다이아몬드 박힌 보스를 깨질못했는데 와 쓰벌.... 말이안나온다

옛날에 오락실서 슈팅게임을 전체적으로 못하긴했지만 특히 라이덴은 너무 어려웠는데...
무기업글 계속하다 한번 죽으면 대포 쏘다 소총으로 이어서 하는게 너무 힘들었음...;;;
글고 적 총알이랑 내 총알 색깔이 비슷한 건 이겜이 거의 유일했던 기억이..
