Did 140 on one of my boy’s R6, looked at the speedometer and said never again lol to be honest it didn’t feel like I was going that fast until I looked down, everyone had a 750-1000 dropped the bike off and the next day my boy calls me and asked if I was gunning it it? He goes to tell me I’m lucky because the chain was missing a link! Thank God !

I use my mirrors to see if there's cops directly behind me. They've saved my ass a couple times. I'll never get rid of them, no matter how crap they are haha.

I would definitely get that front sprocket down a tooth. I mean I know it's only a 600 so it's gonna struggle above 150 no matter what, but it took a looong time to get to 160 from 150. With your weight of probably 210+ with all gear on, gearing the bike down makes all the sense in the world imo.
I don't why but I'm loving these top speed videos. I know it's kinda juvenile of me, lol, but I like it.
+mannybianco Yeah that sprocket change should make an awesome difference getting it through the power and quicker at triple digits.
going one tooth down in the front would reduce top speed and increase acceleration... so its either up in the front for top speed or down in the back for more top speed. hope this helps!
Going one tooth down in front does not _necessarily_ mean a lower top speed. When a bike's top speed is limited by air resistance and not by the rev limiter then gearing a bike down can actually increase top speed in some cases.
I doubt it will in the case of the R6, but I think a lower gearing will result in more or less an identical top speed (just at a slightly higher rpm) but a slightly faster acceleration, which is a win.

I hit 165 on mine with stock sprocket ⚙️
I have a yoshimura exhaust on it and same ECU flash as you and air filter as well. O2 sensor gone no block off plates. That’s all I got in mine. And quickshifter same as you. And I think it could’ve gone a bit more. The only thing is that mine is 2019 ☺️

I also have a 2017 R6 I weigh 190 lbs. my top speed on the bike stock was 166mph. Then I did my ECU from Bauce racing, stock sprockets, Traction off and went 172. I know the bike will go 176 if your at the right place and the right time. And the highway has a big impact on this.

Now regarding your speed runs... I love to watch them but... You got a baby dude. Not fun growing up without a father because he wanted to show his top speed on the internet. There are millions of other ways to provide content without risking your life that much.

tchavei I'm from Austin man. The section of road he was on is very low traffic and designed for high speed. The road is banked and I myself have gone plenty fast on it.

I think that's the same road where Henessey Motorsports closes off the road for their record speeds.
But yeah, so long as you got some nice ass gear, you'll be good from most stuff. You might come out a bit dinged up, but at least it's better than the statistic of "most motorcyclists that get into crashes have a (forgot stat) ): to die."

Had a few Yamaha R6s. My last was a 2009 and I hit 162MPH and then I realized damn, that’s just a little to fast. It’s was a nice adrenaline rush but definitely didn’t want to push my luck.

I noticed that too, I just had a baby boy 7 months ago, I went from a GSX1000s to a Grom. When you have power you will use it. So now I just have fun enjoying corners on the Grom at lower speeds.

If you flash your ecu, you'll be able to shift higher. Believe it or not it's restricted, it will make a noticable difference if you flash your ecu.

I have a 2017 r6 the only thing I have done to it is just a Mid pipe “ypipe” and a shorty. On A mode I hit 162mph but I bet if you fine a better smoother road you’ll get better speed. I live in Dallas so we have some crazy highways! Love your videos they are very helpful btw because I have the same bike!
I ride a 2003 R6 and it might be that I'm only 150lbs but I've gotten up to 170mph on a strait flat highway. As far as I know it's all stock except a Yosimura RS-3 slip on. I pretty sure the sprockets are stock sizes too being 16/48.

I don't have a 2017r6 but I have an 2005 r6 and I'm 5'5 and only weigh 115lbs😂😂 I know I'm small. But I topped mine out at 167 I'm not sure if that was true speed though!! But I still thats fast enough 😂. Great video though love the content keep it up. And ride safe brother!!!
Yeah my ninja was sprocketed and as far as i know it was only +2 in the rear, i topped it out at 193, it doesnt go that fast maybe the calibrated rate of 163, it was an 03 so these people out here claiming a 600cc will do over 165 unless they have work done to motor and trans not gonna happen. Did a -1 in the front but kept the stock number of teeth in the back and went for an aluminum rear sprocket and a 520 chain; my first gen R6 did a power wheelie in second gear when it hit power band. HIGHLY recommend the -1 in the front 520 chain conversion kit. Price per performance upgrade its the cheapest but most impressive performance mod you can do (besides something like a basic ecu flash). Was thinking about doing a +2 aluminum rear sprocket but I think that might be too much to be honest. But what the hell, for $60 why not try it out when my current sprocket gets worn out. But yes I highly recommend the sprocket change and a 520 chain to go with.
Good for you for using your signals and shoulder checking. That's what a good rider should always do. But, I believe that even if you can't see completely out of them, mirrors can still be good to show you what's around you at a glance. Plus on sport bikes they really don't even get in the way, and many of them are foldable. Anyway, good on you buddy.

Well, when my R6 comes in, I'll see how fast I can get the bike. I weigh about 144lb.
The usual power adders: full exhaust, ECU flash, filter, etc. would yield a good 6-8 peak HP. That would probably get you there without any gearing changes. Honestly going -1 in the front (equivalent +3 rear) is probably too much. Start with +2 rear or +1 rear to eek out a few more RPMs, if you don't want to spend the $$ on power adders.
Drag coefficient.... probably remove the mirrors and get a dinky bar-end to be legal.

not the same fairings for aerodynamics not the same gearing and no the same engine. cc's isnt everything
Heavymetal122 the CRF450 only has a single cylinder, and is tuned for low down torque (because ya know, it's a dirt bike), and is very tall and not sleek in any way. It also is a 5 speed that is geared very low.
A Ninja 300 is an 8-valve twin cylinder that is tuned to high rpm and speed, with the side effect of lower torque, and is much more aerodynamic. It also has a 6 speed gearbox.
FYI, air is denser at colder temperatures, regardless of humidity.

If you remove a tooth on the front sprocket and/or add one or more to the rear, you will decrease top speed and increase acceleration. Kind of like going to the smallest sprocket of the crankset on a bicycle. I think you meant to say the opposite, which is add to the front and/or remove from the rear.

If he removes one only on the front, he'll likely see a small increase as the bike didnt reach its redline and it will find it easier to accelerate with one tooth less.
not being able to hit redline in top gear is pretty common it just means you don't have enough horsepower with that gearing to reach it so going larger with the front sprocket or smaller with the rear sprocket will actually make you go even slower you will need to do mods to the engine to be able to pull them gears

Mirror deletes actually help in performance. More aerodynamic and you can gain 1-1.5 mph in the quarter mile
Hope you get out to COTA for the next ride smart track day would love to see how the r6 does against my 2015 r6. I’ve taken mine to 162 with some room left to keep pushing, but getting head shake as you clear a concrete connecting patch stopped me from pushing harder

my Speedo gunna have to be checked cuz mine running 168 and it had a lil more ran outta room
Ive only hit 163mph on my GSX'er 656cc and it was red lining in 6th gear. Ive only done it once and probably will never do it again unless I'm on the track.
Reducing teeth count on front sprocket will have a slower top speed but better acceleration, personally for me its about how quick I get to speed limit not how fast it can go so my gearing (although a totally different bike) is geared for acceleration and not top end speed. My top speed is around 110mph but besides the track there is only 1 road in Australia your legally allowed to do that all the rest are maximum 70mph so here is no use having it geared for speed here. Want faster speed increase you front sprocket and decrease the rear sprocket, but dont expect it to take off quick from the lights.
+VlogBiker Yeah agreed man, that's why I went down on the front on my R1 and will do the same on my R6. Especially with how long it takes for the R6 to not even get to redline. Geared too tall.
The R1's stock are neck and neck with against my bike for the first 40 meters then they just keep reving out so they leave me behind but one with a tooth down would out accelerate me even though I have a 1 litre twin and geared 2 teeth down at the front, but I recently ripped my chain slider off because of the lack of clearance so Im going up a few at the front (to gain the clearance) and way up at the back too, I used that web site Gearing Commander and its very accurate.
Personally I think owning a bike is too dangerous because of the temptations.
I indicate at 150 changing lane an check me blind spot last thing you need is a stuuuupid mod'd BMW at the side of you, ya don't wanna get taken off at that speed...Good man 💯🏍💨👈

I'll be getting my smog block off plates in the mail before I get my ECU. Once everything is put together I'll see what my top speed is and I'll let you know. You need to go up a sprocket size in the front or down in the rear. It will increase you top speed. This is because the power starts to drop off over 16,000. So doing this will move the power band.
Going down in the front or up in the rear will help you get to the limiter in 6th but because because of the sprockets your top speed is reduced.
I thought the same as you. I have a 2011 R6 flashed with exhaust. I went up 2 in the rear and my top speed actually decreased.

Ok rewatched. Doing it your way (going down one in the front) should let you get to the limiter in 6th but you may not get as fast as you got in the video. It will give you better acceleration. I realise this is probably better for you as you want a balanced bike. If you didnt care about acceleration and were just doing a dedicated top speed run then go up in the front.
My R6 has been flashed with woolich on a dyno and I am -1/+2 with 520 conversion (122hp at the wheel) but the acceleration still feels slow compared to my ZX10R. You will probably notice this going from your R1. It does give you a lot more confidence on the R6 coming from a faster bike. The handling is great. You just have to remember to respect it still especially on cold tyres. :)
kornboy22 if you went up in the rear your top speed will obviously decrease, a bigger rear sprocket shortens gearing.
