For me it was a great movie in my view dhanush is a great writer who has depicted a ramayanam with ravan as the main protagonist in this ramayan ravan is minding his own business trying to keep his family safe. And as of why they turned against their own brother it was a mixture of greed, pride and most of all fear when he stabs rayan he was scared that he might hurt him when manikkavel stabbed raayan he was scared that he might hurt his brother fear pride and greed. In this ramayan all the greed that ravan represented is being portrayed through the character played by sj surya and rayan's brothers (muthu being prominent in this part). I found it interesting because of its ramayan references. And also raayan is almost like a wall for the two brothers, for manikkavel he respects him and sees a father figure in him but for muthu when he was a child he had seen his brother murder a man in cold blood for his sister the same sister who is kidnapped right now the brother he knows might actually kill them for doing what they did it was this tension that first made him stab raayan. But for durga he was always a loving brother who always kept her needs first but also never got angry at her. Well this is my opinion thank you😊😊

Bro, I think the movie review must be totally the opposite from what you've said. The first half of the movie shows the ordinary side of an elder brother - protective, guardian role. But the second half witnessed a totally different persona - cunning, clever, plotting - especially the scene where he encounters Sethu - that was a like a MASS RE-ENTRY. The character couldn't have been played by anyone better than Dhanush - in the entire movie the character barely smiled once or twice! Overall Rating 9/10
