Kingston Hard Waste - WM's 6x4 Acco

- Not too long ago Kingston's Hard Waste season was on for a couple of months and Waste Management was the contractor to collect it. Featuring in the video is one of their newer 6x4 Acco's with a Superior Pak RL body on the back and at the time the truck wasn't even a year old but I would say it defiantly is now. Wasn't many big piles out but I reckon these days all Hard Waste is just stuff you can chuck out in your bin considering if you look at some of the piles... MelbourneGarbo was at the helm and cheers to the runners for letting me grab a video.

In Perth, WA. I was work at printing industries. The Paper bin truck came to here and I carried some wastes piles of large super smooth silk cards into bin truck and chomp and slide up, very loud booming about 200db boom. Bin man and I got hurts ears. Superboom sound went threw anywhere up to 150 metres.
I like the packer cycle on this truck. It's fast and aggressive. It looks like the driver can cycle it from inside the cab because it starts without anyone pushing the button on the back.

Dude, no matter how old I get I will always find this awesome and fascinating! I've always had a fascination with the power of hydraulics and seeing and watching a garbage truck crush all the trash! I wanted to be a garbage man so bad as a kid just to use the crusher blade lol

Max are u talking about the truck or the loaders?
Sometimes it helps to short-stroke the carrier/packer (and the sweep) so you don't have debris getting kicked out the back. The cycle time on this is insane, though! We don't have any this fast on the downstroke!

In the USA they pay as little as $10 an hour and as much as 18, depends on what the company you work has their wage scale set up for.

brimbank used to use the truck as the hard waste collection truck, havent seen hard waste collection in a while so idk now
Cleanaway have the contract and they only do a free collection once a year which you have to call the council for. They don’t the yearly hard waste

And that truck sure has a mind of its own. The compactor seems to start at times without the operator pressing any buttons, so it must be the driver who is deciding when to compact. Is this safe? The blade comes down fast, and doesn't stop in mid-cycle. If you don't get your arm away in time, it'll chomp it off like a tiger, LOL

I subscribed to your channel a long time ago cuz i found these kind of Garbagetrucks are the best and said to myself okay... write an comment. Now everythink is clear to me. This wasnt Recorded in America ( because aaah in Europe normally are different nuberplates, and that mean it couldnt be England. But austrailia was the last country who was getting in my mind... (before i read the description). I am sorry for any kind of misstakes because in our english lessons we talk about Food, Cabs the opposite of Boring but not about Garbage Trucks... Have a nice Day!
I'm in a wealthy area. You should see what they throw out here. They get big pay from their jobs and just don't care about giving it away, reselling it or donating it to charity. One of my friends picked up $1500 of clothing in two bags outside a large house, most of it new.
Thats just crazy. Here in South Africa our homes get burgled and residents get murdered for some of the items you guys throw away. 90% of that garbage would be scavenged long before that truck even got near it.

I have several questions about this process. were is everything going? is it going to a landfill, sorting plant? why wouldn't WM set up a metal, wood, plastic scrap yard and offer money for the materials? It would be cheaper to pay scrappers to sort the material and pay the price of the material than it is to pay someone to sort the stuff out in a plant. I scrapper can do the job of many plant workers. The will sort the material, deliver the sorted material to the site. economical your process makes no sense, ecologically your process is waistful and adds more of a carbon footprint than the old process. what I saw in this video made no sense. can someone explain?
far as I know companies like Waste Management, Allied and Republic and smaller corps like Burrtec in Cali have sorting facilities this stuff is taken to directly or from a transfer station that the collection trucks go to where its loaded into a semi trailer to haul it to the MRF (material recovery facility). Where they sort out the trash and recycling items.

I assume they got something akin to a MRF or Material Recovery Facility there like we do in the USA where recyclables get removed from the trash stuff. Process is generally what you see, then brought to a transfer station where its loaded out of a truck into a semi dump trailer that takes it to a sorting facility, some collection trucks take directly to the landfill as its all just trash and place is just that close.

Brandon Allen There is a steel blade in the body and when this blade is at the end of the body, the garbage truck is full.
Even though you can recycle all household electrical appliances, combustibles, plastics etc .... I guess it will bring it to landfill! ! Usable resources are wasted .... What a waste! ! For example home appliances! We will disassemble household appliances separately and carry stainless steel to each processing plant separately for each type and bring it to landfill to make new products can not be wasteful! ! I would like to know afterwards of the baggage loaded with all of the baggage in the cleaning car
ken yanagawa The metal and wood is recycled after collection when they sort trough it at a special sorting plant.
My city does not pick up anything that does not fit in the trash can.

Nope not at all, its an annual Hard Waste service. Every year people throw out lots of unwanted Rubbish/Bulk/Hard Waste. The size of the piles is pretty much standard everywhere. I was filming as I have an interest in trucks.
@@VictorianGarbo Cool. Here, in Scotland, if i want to throw out hard waste, i need to pay £14, no matter how little or, how much. Its deters fly tipping. If, i was caught doing that, i`d be taken to court and fined up to £1000 with a criminal conviction.
When i moved from my last flat, into this one, i phoned the Council to tell them i had a few items i wanted to have uplifted ( 14 ) i had to tell them how many, if there was any Electrical and to take a photo to forward to them but, because i was moving to another Council area, i was reimbursed with a cheque for the full amount of £14.

a lot of that wood stuff is particle board dressed up to look nice and some of it showed mold build-up, I myself am not one to save stuff not worth keeping anymore, especially if it is broken in some way, I put it on the roadside or by the curb for some scrapper/collector to pick up and use themself or do with what they will to make money from it. I live in a duplex so I can not really do what some folks do and make a junkpile outside or around the house

@@giorgoskaragiorgos6586 It is NOT really safe to have the DRIVER operate the packer !! BEGGING for someone to LOSE a hand...or WORSE !!
Sta2200 The driver has a camera which shows the back, he only starts the packer when everything’s clear. The system is pretty efficient because the loaders don’t have to operate the blade and they can throw more junk in while the drivers operates the blade.
