yeah i've been running the sentinel pump the past few days and have been loving it so far, this whole season is really a delight no matter your playstyle
The sentinel pump is one of the worse weapons I’ve used it just never hits for bug damage it’s damage drop off is massive and it takes so long to shoot
As a zero build player I stopped carrying shotguns this season. I don’t know about a lot of you but both me and my friend have been experiencing a lot of inconsistencies with the shotguns including the sentinel pump. And before anyone says skill issue, I clip a lot of my games. I have a clip of my crosshair showing all 14 pellets in my gun hitting an enemy with 3 being headshot. The shot registered as headshot dmg but did 34 damage. This was with a purple sentinel pump. I also only recall maybe 2-3 shotgun deaths, 2 of which was early game no gun. I’ve been only rocking an AR and SMG and honestly it’s bliss. Having 2 utility or 2 med spots really switches how me and my friend play.
I've been experiencing inconsistencies across all the guns, the only gun that seems to work properly is the scoped smg... which sucks because I actually wanted to enjoy this season and this is making it hard
Well, with hitscan back I've barley even been in shotgun range. I'm stuck on controller for now even though I'm not good on it, I'm lasering people with the Veiled Precision SMG. Combine that with the awesome movement options we have this season and in Zero Build, shotguns are are kinda moot.
skill issue bro if you had hit all 14 pellets as a headshot then maybe you’d do 40 damage instead of only 34. Seriously though lol it might be a connection thing that happens to me every now and then even before this chapter.
Mercy rule...? Is there actually a thing that let's people survive if they take exactly enough damage that would kill them? Yesterday I dealt 250 exactly in zero build to someone with a rifle and they didn't die until the next shot
@@ToppSpeed88 that's because the guns' damage are dealt in decimals, meaning a 199.5 shot of a gun will register as 200 but leave the opponent with 0.5 that will round up to 1

Oni shotgun: mix between the double barrel and the ranger shotgun, Twin fire auto shotgun: mix between the frenzy auto and tac shotgun, Sentinel Pump shotgun, mix between the striker pump and thunder shotgun.
I personally like the blue one (can’t remember the name) it may be slow but I’m more of a defensive player so it’s really easy the hit really nasty prefire with it.
The Sentinel is a pretty good pump but, I’m also love the movement mechanics of this season. The wall kick is extremely powerful if you use the right angles.
I haven't played or watched the game enough to know the balance of these guns, but from first impressions I'm liking how there's a shotgun that will get comp players to get better at pump, cause the gatekeeper made some ppl kinda rusty. They've already mostly recovered, but it's nice there's something to solidify it more cause of the fire rate
i personally enjoy the auto shotgun a lot more than the others because of its fast fire rate and dmg, to counter the ammo weakness i just box up while reloading or end the fight quickly
I like how this season is having me second guess which weapon I should take. I like having the ability to choose what I like without feeling like I'm at a disadvantage because I'm not following a meta.
As well as all the good things you said about the sentinel pump, it does insane structure damage being able to take out a fully built wood wall in two shots.
The pump can’t actually 200 pump sadly, as Fortnite has a second-life feature, where if you are put to exactly 0hp, it gives you 1hp instead. Essentially granting you a second life
I really really enjoy the Oni shotgun and want to use it more, but it's just not competitive with the other guns. I think if they buffed it with a 15% damage increase and a slight rate of fire increase so you can shoot both shots quickly then it would be a really good ambush weapon.
I like the weird weapons, and the Oni shotgun is a satisfying weapon to use, not only is the reload very clean, but the range is the selling point for me, as beforehand, the Ranger shotgun was my favorite as it not only stood out, but it felt like a shotgun, but being effective at longer ranges (also the single bullet, but fast reload was nice too). To summarize it in easier terms, it's using a shotgun in a way a shotgun isnt supposed to be effective on, and it working (mainly range, but they both eject the shells in the reload)
the mythic sentinel actually does 199.5 headshot but the game rounds it up to 200 for the damage indicator and the actual damage down to 199, so it can't one pump would be cool though

I am a big fan of the Double Barrel shotgun because its a proper full length one that has the sideway barrels which I've been waiting for ever since they put in the ranger shotgun
You can't one pump with the sentinel shotgun. The game says that you hit for 200 but it's actually 199.50 and since the game isn't made to exact calculations the screen says 200 when you're actually leaving them on 1 hp
I just wanna point out, carrying extra shields or extra bunkers is better that a shotgun in zero-build because most of the fights after early game is mid range and smgs are busted
the oni shotgun is such a fun concept, clearly a hybrid of the ranger and the double barrel, however they butchered it by putting an artificial fire rate cap on it instead of the pure semi auto action of the double barrel, if you could send both shots out as fast as the double barrel i could see it being a unique and fun shotgun despite its low damage.
honestly, it doesn't matter what other shotguns i have available, because if the double barrel has a higher rarity, im choosing the damn double barrel, it's just so fast, accurate, and satisfying to use
My main problem with the sentinel is that it has so much damage drop off which makes it useless in zero build. I’ve either been running whatever I can get, with preference to the oni, or just a prescision smg. However either the pump or the oni are good to get a shot off before running in with a blade.
