I can't wait to try out my JS Darkmatter rod with Daiwa Lexa 300 this season!
I just picked up a 7’0 Jigging world hybrid Nano Carbon spinning rod paired with a 4K Daiwa Ballistic MQ LT reel. Planning on using to cast from the boat for stripers and maybe fluke and blackfish. I love gear videos! Keep ‘em coming. 👍🏼 tight lines.
I think the lure weight rating is usually for casting so you can use heavier jigs for vertical jigging.
Great video I have the JS rod with a tranx 300hg love it. Would you think about doing a video on your rigging for fluke and sea bass and blackfish ie: leaders jigs gulp presentation thanks in advance love the videos

I just purchased a Hamachi stump puller , a 5 ft 2 in rod and paired it with a Lews inshore low profile bait caster.
I know most people like the longer rods but I'd like to give it a shot for porgy , sea bass and black fish.
What is the disadvantage to a short rod ?

Great video. Got the Skinner rod last season and it looks and performs excellent. Also have a couple of the Quantum accurists. Where did you find the power handles for them?

I said the same thing…. Casting for bottom feeders is kinda odd.

How is the skinner rod on 5 or 8 oz jigs

What's a chicken rig
A chicken rig is very similar to a Hi/Lo rig. Some versions have a weight at the bottom and a single dropper loop above with a hook/Teaser.

A little odd you’re using bait casting rods for fluke and sea bass. They’re bottom feeders and often found near wrecks. It’s a drop down 95% of the time. It’s not like fishing for freshwater bass or crappie
Thanks a lot for watching! You should take a look at our other videos. We've caught 19lb fluke in 100 feet of water on these setups. They're the standard for bucktailing for fluke/ flounder.

@@nextdriftfishing i disagree. the highest standard of reel for fluking would be an accurate valiant 300 or avet sxj, or japanese equivalent super light conventional reels. bait-casters are for freshwater and don’t hold a candle to those reels

Having MS, for many years, I've had extended periods of "down time" that I have filled my time with watching youtube videos. Thousands!!! With all the new tech advances in navionics, your podcasts are more succinctly detailed; simple to follow and learn that Next Drift navionics is my "go-to" source for instructions. I'm readying to go out on my first fluking next week after many years (10) of watching others fishing on videos. I'm "good-to-go" now. Finally! I've purchased enough tackle, lures, gulp, salted baits, rigs, hooks, line, rods, reels, chum, bait cages, sabikis, how-to knot books, sinkers, bucktails, teasers, jigs, etc to open a store. Cedar Beach inlet on the North Shore is my first destination. Then, Port Jeff or Stony Brook harbor. Got my fingers crossed I haven't lost my touch. I'm confined to surf casting from the beach, and off the piers and jetties. Studying water depth changes close to surf casting range is my last fluke research task. Just wanted to express a heartfelt "Thank You" for the hundreds of hours of your podcasts that I've watched + your recent re-airing of Capt. Nappi's trophy fluke tutorial. That was the icing on the cake - topping all the advice, tips, observations, and new tech tools your podcasts have filled the void of settling for "watching" when you can't be "doing." Bravo! Capt.
