Hi Everybody! Rexing has just updated the M3 with several new features including eliminating the ferrite core woohoo! And here is my Dash Cam installation video th-cam.com/video/44WXN8MI66o/w-d-xo.html And how to connect the optional wire to enable parking assist th-cam.com/video/LHGxwulIPes/w-d-xo.html Cheers!
In addition I have not been able to get my parking monitor module to trigger a warning no matter how hard I bump it or yank the steering wheel etc. It will trigger once in a while driving down the road bit not while power is off
Hi Mike! The M3 requires the hardwire to enable parking mode. And if you need to adjust your G-Sensor settings to make it more sensitive, here is my follow up video th-cam.com/video/kZtsAgwhI34/w-d-xo.html showing how to do so. Cheers!@@The_Cranky_Old_Man
Hi Just Me! I see your liked the new audio test I added! lol normally I never really cared much about this, but a viewer suggested it not long ago and the more I thought about it I realized that it made sense to include, that way we can see how much actual difference is in between microphones on mirror dash cams. Cheers Bud!
@@AlexAutoFun I may buy it to check it out. That device definitely has my attention. Thanks for your video and bringing it to our attention. I don’t think any dash cam is perfect; however, this seems to be one of the better ones. Once again thank you and keep up the great work.
I love how detailed it is and how to use the functions and features. Thank you. I was gonna settle for the m2, but this makes sense to get the m3 for the extra 50-60 dollars.
You're welcome Bats Hats! and here is my follow up video showing the M3 full menu and my recommended settings for it th-cam.com/video/kZtsAgwhI34/w-d-xo.html Hope this helps, Cheers!
Love your detailed reviews. I recently purchased a mirrored dash cam but would love to hear a comparison between the Rexing M3 and the WolfBox G900. keep up the good work and thanks in advance Jessie
Thanks Jessie! Ah yes those two are in very different categories, the G900 is only a dual dash cam where the M3 is a triple channel one with night vision. The G900 has higher resolution capability but if you need more coverage such as the cabin then the M3 would be a good choice. And there are a ton more differences, here is my G900 video if you like to see the rest of them th-cam.com/video/eNK6ujrWWkA/w-d-xo.html Hope this helps, Cheers!
Yo! Looks like Rexing has went with your suggestion, and the M3's GPS logger is now separate from the power cable. The power cable is also now USB-c. Certainly an improved revision from what it seems!
Hi Bud! Ah thanks for reminding me! I been meaning to pin a comment with this update. Yeah I'm glad to see they upgraded the M3, just got my hands on the new version and the new hardwire kit. Will be working on a video showing the improvements once I complete testing it. Have a great weekend! 😀
Buddy, this is such an awesome review video, thank you for going into such detail. You made my decision to purchase this dash cam much easier. You are now on my Christmas card list lol
If you don't mind, please include (screen) display resolutions for mirror dash cams and other dash cams with live screens. I emailed rexing and inquired, to which they replied "the M3's display resolution is 1920*380 on a 12" IPS display." From reading the reply, as you can see, the screens LCD panel resolution itself (not the dashcams footage resolution), is very low quality in terms of cosmetic appeal. The screen is also dim and does not look modern while on. Which doesn't look similar to other conventional screens, such as car infotainment screen displays since the resolution is too low.
Hi Whaitisnt! The resolution of the display is sometimes available, but sometimes it's not shared by the dash cam brand, but I can try to ask if it helps you on your search. So far the highest resolution I found on mirror dash cam's (LCD panel resolution) is the G900 with it's resolution of 1920x440 Here is the full review for it th-cam.com/video/eNK6ujrWWkA/w-d-xo.html Regarding cosmetic appeal, I think mirror dash cams are definitely not for everyone, some people love them (like myself) and some people can't stand them (I had to remove a few from people who tried them and decided a normal dash cam would work best for them, not an easy decision considering the cost to pay an installer to install a mirror dash cam then remove it and pay for again to install a traditional dash cam). And I have more reviews for traditional dash cams on my channel in the playlist "Dash Cams Reviews" if you like try one of those instead. Cheers!
@@AlexAutoFun yea the customer support agent didn't even know the answer since he's said he's never gotten that question lol. Regarding the LCD panel resolution, I would think people like me usually purchase mirror dash cams mainly since it modernizes cars similar to apple car play infotainment systems. Which is a major understatement. I have no idea why it's not conventionally included in the specs and description. Apple lists panel screen resolutions for all of its devices and is mainly considered from a consumer standpoint when purchasing an Iphone. Thanks to OLED. Back to the M3, again it's display resolution is very lackluster. If I may ask, is the G900 the highest LCD panel resolution, of the dash cams you've reviewed, or is the highest for mirror dashcams?
@@whatitisnt. LOL Yeah, dash cams have become increasingly reliant on features over specs, something discussed by Linus in his famous dash cam video now, and he is right, the dash cam industry has not advanced at the level that other electronics like cell phones or TV have. The largest technological leap we seen recently has been the introduction of Starvis 2 (which is a huge leap but also means it will likely be another decade for the next leap considering Starvis 1 came out around 2014) But yes regarding display resolution G900 is the highest of the dash cams I have test (over 60 something dash cams combined) now not all of them are mirror dash cams and with what seems to be a new mirror dash cam coming out every month keeping up with them has been challenging. But as far as the display resolution I don't see one with higher res coming out anytime now (I usually get insider tips about new products way before they come out). I think specially because the industry may feel the demand is not there. While the G900 is successful, the T10 and the G840 have been extremely popular, so the challenge is that other brands are seeing the same with customers leaning towards the more affordable items and a very small subset of their customers for the higher end ones (dash cam industry). But I do ever find another one with higher res I will update this comment for you. Cheers!
Most definitely, I personally can't go back to a regular mirror now LOL Remember I placed the link to the dash cam in the video description. Cheers Tatiana!
I have another question lol sorry but you're like the only person that actually answers your comments and that is really appreciated. Ok so the mirror is there a way to change the navigation default right now its on google gps but i want the default to be Igo is there a way to do that
Hi Uptown Finest! And thank you! I'm not sure I understand the question. The GPS is not used for navigation, it is used to record your coordinates and speed (which can be useful as evidence after a car). Hope this helps, Cheers!

Great concise review and straight to the point. I,m contemplating various dash cams and the rear mirror seems like the cleanest installation. One question: Does the video record only what's displayed? For instance if I have the mirror set to rear view only, are the other views automatically recorded?
That's perfect. Also, does the mirror as rear view react to headlights at night? My present OEM mirror automatically dims and I don't want to be blinded especially by higher pickups lights.
@@doroy52 Hi Doroy! Mirror Dashcams do not feature auto dimming. This is due to the mirror being an LCD screen when turned on, so you don't get your eyes blinded by the headlights from rear vehicles since what your are seeing is not a real reflection, what you are seeing on the screen is what the rear camera is seeing (assuming the mirror is used with the LCD screen on and the mirror is not aimed at your eyes since the screen is still reflective). Cheers!
First thank you for all your help. I just picked up the M3. On my M2, M2 Max and M3. The M3 is 1440 vs 4k. So how well does that convert from my 4k? Am I going backwards on technology with the M3? Also all the cameras have a clear lens protector. Rexing notes 1rst step. Is to remove this screen cover. Is this the glare protection?
You're welcome Mike! 4K over 2K does make a small difference (from 1440 to 2160) and some people do like 4K over 2K. Just remember 4K generates a lot of heat and uses a lot more space than 2K. Regarding the lens protector, most dash cams come with a film to protect the lens when they are brand new, this film is supposed to be removed before using. Cheers!
Thanks for the informative video! A few questions: I want a dashcam to record while driving, and I also want it to record traffic stops when the car is turned off. This means the camera would need to be hardwired, correct? This camera has a lot going on; have you heard of any issues re: car battery draining when hardwired to an older car (2009)? If I buy this from Best Buy, is it better to let them install it, or should I take it to an auto shop that does installation? Thanks in advance for sharing your expertise. My little old car has been good to me (knock wood), I don't want to introduce any new issues.
You're welcome Caryn! Ah yes if you want the dash cam to monitor the car while parked, it will need to be hardwired. Regarding draining the battery, most hardwire kits have a low voltage cut off to prevent this here is my video where I explain this in more detail th-cam.com/video/Yky9_tTvwMc/w-d-xo.html Regarding installation, I have not used Best Buy since I do all my own installs so I can't say if they are good or if an outside shop is better. Hope this helps, Cheers!
That was a fantastic review! Just had mine installed this afternoon at Best Buy. I have a quick question for you. Does this record front and rear or is it just front or back? I’m not very tech smart. Thanks!
Thank you Rob! Correct, the dash cam record both front and back at the same time. Congrats on your new mirror dash cam and here is is my follow up video showing the best settings for the M3 dash cam th-cam.com/video/kZtsAgwhI34/w-d-xo.html Cheers!
Thank you for your outstanding video. I do have a question though - Where would you recommend to mount the rear camera on a small truck such as a Tacoma so that it will give the best back up and wide angle view?
You're welcome Hari! I prefer the inside both for ease of installation and also to keep the camera clean. Here is the install video th-cam.com/video/44WXN8MI66o/w-d-xo.html showing both the process for mounting the rear camera in the inside and mounted on the outside. Hope this helps, Cheers!
You're welcome M! Ah no, you cannot swap the cabin camera for another external camera. Here is a good alternative if you need a front parking cam th-cam.com/video/5Tlq2Rw9soQ/w-d-xo.html and if you want it smaller (and wired) th-cam.com/video/gv0vPipuT8s/w-d-xo.html Cheers!
First off, excellent review and video. Just purchased this but i don't have a cigarette port my wireless charger is in that location...but how do i get GPS to work otherwise. Or if i already have a back up cam will trying to add this in to the mirror as well complicate things. Maybe i should allow dealership install instead of bestbuy. Also i saw adapters on similar models that allowed for direct install instead of being mounted on top of old mirrors.
Thank you Methodical Madness with Countertop Gadgets! Ah yes, if you are not able to use the cigarette lighter port, then you will loose the GPS capability) Regarding the direct mount conversion here is the video for that th-cam.com/video/TtjZ7rC_ncY/w-d-xo.html however the Rexing M3 is not compatible with a direct fit kit (the conversion kit explains what is needed for conversion) Hope this helps, Cheers!
I'm guessing the ferrite has to be located past the gps for it to counter any interference caused by the gps. Do agree that's an odd setup that is only going to work out in some setups. Seems like it's more likely that the gps will end up lining up somewhere you don't want it. Thanks for the video!
How long is the rear camera cable? How cold a temperatures can the display and camera handle? Can the display act as a normal mirror when turned off? Does this hardware kit connect to the fuse box or with an OBD2 connector?
Hi Roger! Unfortunately Rexing did not share the cable length or the operating temperature range of the M3. They may have this information available if you contact them but I can't confirm. Regarding it using it as a normal mirror, yes it can (mirror dash cams are designed to work as a normal mirror in case the LCD panel fails) Regarding the hardwire kit, yes it connects to the fuse box. Cheers!

Hi Ba Bu! The maximum amount of time you can record will be determined by the size of the memory card that is loaded, the resolution setting and if you have any "flagged videos" of car crashes (those by default will not be deleted by Dash Cams, they require manual deletion). Dash Cams use something called Loop Recording, once the memory card is full, the oldest videos are overwritten by new video (loop recording). Hope this helps. Cheers

Hi Ken! Unfortunately I have not reviewed either the M2 or the M2 Max so I'm not familiar with them. But I will update this comment of I ever do review one of them. Cheers!
Can I just cut the cigarette lighter plug off and run power to intermittent power fuse as well as black wire to ground? OR maybe wire a cigarette lighter plug from the fuse box and plug the M3 cigarette lighter plug into it?
Hi Mike! Nope, remember the cigarette lighter plug is a power adapter to lower the voltage to the dash cam requirement, so the dash cam cannot be connected directly to the car's 12VDC. That being said, if the electronics from the cigarette adapter are retained it could potentially work if those were wired to the car directly, however at that point, I would just prefer to wire a hardwire kit instead since the hardwire kit enables parking mode and also low voltage protection (but the unfortunate part is that Rexing has not released an official hardwire kit for this dash cam) Cheers!
@AlexAutoFun ok ill run a female cigarette lighter plug from the fuse block and see if that works. I already have a intelligent hardwire kit for my m2. Funny thing. M2 has a mini usb plug for power than the Max stepped up to current times came out using the Type C plug then the M3 went backwards back to the mini USB again. Very wierd
Hi fishnbaja! The M3 has recently been upgraded so it can now be hardwire along with retaining the GPS capability, link to the dash cam in the video description. Cheers!
Does anyone know what the screw hole size is for buying the bracket? I am talking about not having to use the mirror straps. I want to purchase all of it at the same time.
Hi Rober! Unfortunately the Rexing M3 does not have screw holes in the back, so a conversion kit will not work without modification (I had some viewers open their dash cams and drill holes to be able to install the direct mount kit) which as you can imagine is probably not ideal (but I may make a video on that custom mod). Here is another alternative that can be fitted with a direct mount kit th-cam.com/video/7IED69-078E/w-d-xo.html And I have more mirror dash cam reviews on my channel in the playlist "Dash Cams Reviews" if you like to compare them. Hi Tay ler! Very good question! Nope, while I have removed or moved ferrites in the past, the effects of moving the ferrite or deleting it can not be known without extensive testing (unfortunately, I'm not an E.E. so I don't have the knowledge or equipment to conduct the testing). Additionally, there is the warranty aspect to consider if the dash cam is modified. This is why I think it be great if Rexing can eliminate or move the ferrite on their side as opposed to us having to decide if it's ok to do so (both short term and long term for the dash cam and for devices near it since some ferrites are meant to keep interference from affecting others devices in the vicinity or in line with the device that uses it) Hope this helps, Cheers!
@@AlexAutoFun Thank you. I'm beginning to think integrating the GPS receiver and power wire creates more problems than it solves, not just for having to deal with the ferrite core, but also because I cannot figure out a way to retain GPS if I wish to hard-wire the unit.

The bump on the power cord isn't the only potential problem with this mirror cam. Seeing the "built-in" GPS is on the power cord, the only way this mirror is able to utilize it is if the parking monitor feature is disabled. Because if you purchase the hardwire kit to enable the parking monitor feature, you lose the GPS, seeing the hardwire kit doesn't have a GPS sensor.
Hi Naaman! The M3 has recently been upgraded so it can now be hardwired along with retaining the GPS capability, link to the dash cam in the video description. Cheers! Cheers!

Hi there! So we bought this rexing M3 but found out that it does not fit in our toyota prius 2011 car. Our original rearview mirror is “longer” so the side is protruding because of the front camera. Any recommendations how to mount this? Thanks.
Hi! Ah yes I seen that happen on larger mirrors as you mentioned, unfortunately there is no way to hide the real mirror behind the dash cam in those cases unless a direct mount conversion is performed or using a direct mount dash cam. Here is what the direct fit conversion looks like th-cam.com/video/TtjZ7rC_ncY/w-d-xo.html but unfortunately the M3 does not support conversion. And here are direct fit mirror dash cam choices th-cam.com/video/vUEsIYEBVck/w-d-xo.html or th-cam.com/video/RPTqog1_l9E/w-d-xo.html or th-cam.com/video/Yk2EEacXZ7g/w-d-xo.html And I have more mirror dash cam reviews on my channel in the playlist "Dash Cams Reviews" if you like to compare them. Hi A! Ah, that's a good question that I get often and what I like to say is that there is not such thing as the best dash cam. I think the best mirror dash cam (for you) depends on what you are looking for in a mirror dash cam. I run different ones on my cars so what I usually tell people looking for the right dash cam for them is to start by picking how many cameras does it need to have (2 or 3). Now that you have narrowed your selections, consider how much you want to spend on one, that will narrow your choices even further. Then consider any special features you are looking for such as 360° video, Side Camera, Blind Spot Warning, Backup to SSD, Parking monitor without hardwire, detached cameras, Etc. Finally you would want to compare video quality of your final choices. And I just began working on a video to compare my top picks for different categories, Stay tuned, Cheers!
@@AlexAutoFun Side camera is not important to me , 2 or 3 i am still not decided , front and back best quality , G sensor , movement sensor , and mobile app regardless the price
Hi Surinderjit! So far none of the mirror dashcams I tested come with ADAS. ADAS is coming to mirror dash cams, I have one coming later this year that has it but honestly every time I tested this feature on the stick style dash cams that support it (not very common), it seems to be a hit or miss, sometimes you get the alert sometimes you don't, so I'm not very hopeful we will see better results on mirror dash cams, but I'm keeping an eye on this feature, maybe we'll find one that actually works at some point in the future. Hope this helps, Cheers!
Since the GPS receiver is built into the ACC power wire, would you lose GPS functionality if you wished to hard-wire the mirror? Since parking-monitor functionality requires hard-wiring, it seems like you cannot have both GPS functionality and parking-monitor functionality.
Hi Tay ler! The M3 has recently been upgraded so it can now be hardwired along with retaining the GPS capability, link to the dash cam in the video description. Cheers!
Thanks Vikram! Ah yes I cover this around 3:00 mark of the video, the GPS antenna is integrated into the power adaptor (so the antenna does not plug into the mirror, only the power adapter and rear camera) Hope this helps, Cheers!
Hi Amit! While I haven't measured it, to get you an idea, a two channel dash cam will fit about a 5-7 hours on a 64GB memory card, so you can imagine that a 128Gb memory would double that (10-17 hrs approx.) Now since this is a 3 channel dash cam, I would guess probably be 8-12hrs. Just keep in mind that this will also be affected by the number of locked files you have on the dash cam which reduce the useable space. Now because memory is cheap this days, what I recommend is to just buy the largest memory card that you can afford instead of trying to calculate how much a smaller memory can fit LOL This case it would be the 256Gb. Cheers!

Hi Rob! The Rexing M3 does not support Wi-Fi. If you need Wifi & App support then you will want to go for the Wolfbox T10 or the G840H, here is the review for both of them th-cam.com/video/Jt4ZvczqRi4/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/2XQFw-C8f88/w-d-xo.html Cheers!

Hope this helps, Cheers!
Hi Daniel! Ah, that's a good question that I get often. I think it's depends on what you are looking for in a mirror dash cam. I run different ones on my cars, so what I usually tell people looking for the right dash cam for them is to start by picking how many cameras does it need to have (2 or 3). Now that you have narrowed your selections, consider how much you want to spend on one, that will narrow your choices even further. Then consider any special features you are looking for such as 360° video, Side Camera, Detached Cameras, Wi-Fi, Blind Spot Warning, Auto Brightness, Back up to SSD, Direct Fit Ready, Parking monitor without hardwire Etc. Finally, you would want to compare the video quality of your final choices. And I just began working on a video to compare my top picks for different categories, Stay tuned, Cheers!
please tell me which application to use for 24-hour monitoring of the car, install two dvr cameras in the front and a parking camera in the back, I use android 10 car radio. I downloaded a carkeeper application, but when I download it, there is no QR code, so I cannot connect it to my mobile phone. I would be grateful if you could tell me which applications would be good, thanks
Hi Andrej! I'm not familiar with the cameras or the android radio you are using but I would recommend taking a look at the manual for the cameras and the manual for the radio to see which Apps they support. I would also recommend contacting either the camera manufacturer or the radio manufacturer for support if you are still having trouble confirming which Apps are supported. Hope this helps, Cheers!
Hi Masood Vibes! So far in the time I had it, I would say just the ferrite I mention on the video (which as I explained it may or may not bother you) Hope this helps, and I have more mirror dash cam reviews on my channel in the playlist "Dash cams" if you like to compare them. Cheers!

Hi Just Me! I see your liked the new audio test I added! lol normally I never really cared much about this, but a viewer suggested it not long ago and the more I thought about it I realized that it made sense to include, that way we can see how much actual difference is in between microphones on mirror dash cams. Thanks Prime SRT! 🍻

Wonderful review. Very detailed and covered all the features. Convinced me to get one 😂
Thank you Andres! Yeah I can't go back to a regular mirror now LOL
If you don't mind, please include (screen) display resolutions for mirror dash cams and other dash cams with live screens. I emailed rexing and inquired, to which they replied "the M3's display resolution is 1920*380 on a 12" IPS display."
From reading the reply, as you can see, the screens LCD panel resolution itself (not the dashcams footage resolution), is very low quality in terms of cosmetic appeal.
Cheers!

Great concise review and straight to the point. I,m contemplating various dash cams and the rear mirror seems like the cleanest installation. One question: Does the video record only what's displayed? For instance if I have the mirror set to rear view only, are the other views automatically recorded?
Thank you Doroy! Ah yes the mirror dash cam will record all cameras regardless of which view is shown on the main display. Cheers!
A few questions:
I want a dashcam to record while driving, and I also want it to record traffic stops when the car is turned off.
Thanks for the review!
I would like to install a front camera on the bumper, instead of using an internal camera. Is that possible?
You're welcome and thank you Larry!
Cheers!
Is there a fixed mount kit you recommend for this unit? If you hard wire it do you need the cigarette lighter at all?

If we record all 3 cams same time. How long we can record and how often have to clean the memory card? Thanks forbthenvideo
Cheers

Does Rexing M3 Mirror dash cam has setting of blind spot warning system as We could see in M2 series Mirror dash cam?
Hi Rupesh! Nope the M3 does not support BSD. Hope this helps, Cheers!
Hello. Can you tell me what the differences are between the Rexing M2 vs M2 Max?
Very wierd
Hi Mike! The M3 has recently been upgraded with a USB-C port, link to the dash cam in the video description. Cheers!
Alex, I was about to pull the trigger and buy this Rexing M3, but I read somewhere that GPS doesn't work if you hardwire the unit. Is this the case?
Are you fairly confident that the ferrite core can be moved on the cable and still be effective?
@@tayler2396 Hi Tay ler! The M3 has recently been upgraded, the ferrite core has been eliminated and it can now be hardwired along with retaining the GPS capability, link to the dash cam in the video description. Cheers!

@@AlexAutoFun Thanks for the quick reply. I'm looking for a rear view mirror camera with 3 channel front, rear, and inside with capability to connect to it with the phone. So far I wasn't able to find anything.
You're welcome P! Ah yes Wifi on dual channel mirror dash cams is rare, now a 3 channel mirror dash cam with Wifi will likely be even rarer, but I will update this comment for you if I ever come across one. Cheers!
Cheers! Cheers!

Does the back up cam lit up guides turn when the car does like OEM? & it should come with a hardwired kit. I suppose I can just cut the plug off... ?

I want the best one , which one you prefer ?

Have you reviewed any mirror dash cam with ADAS
Cheers!
Hi my friend. That was good. But I wanted to know how to hook up a GPS to the mirror, and you did not talk about that. Anyway, Thank you.
Thanks Vikram! Ah yes I cover this around 3:00 mark of the video, the GPS antenna is integrated into the power adaptor (so the antenna does not plug into the mirror, only the power adapter and rear camera) Hope this helps, Cheers!
Brother, 128GB of memory card record how much time of recording in this 3 channel mirror dash cam. Please answer.
Cheers!

If you have to choose between Rexing M3 and Wolfbox G880, which one has clearer visual and audio recording results, accurate GPS and complete features?
Hi Arie! The G880 and the M3 are very different dash cams in two different categories. The G880 has detached cameras where the M3 has them integrated. The G880 is of the 11" inch category where the M3 is of the 12" which means you will have to decide if you want a larger screen or being able to use your sun visors as some 12" dash cam do not clear the visors.
