This video is well overdue. I skipped last week due to a severe bout of somethain' nasty. Anyway, I'm all better now and I hope you enjoy this video 👍 Oh, and I'm currently in international waters and might struggle to read comments until tomorrow.
I'm taking my lil nissan NV200 out Saturday night... astrophotography is my passion, but weather be damned, I'm having a night away and see what Dawn brings
Hey Thomas. Yes the Nikon way is what you crop is what you get. No more and no less in the saved file. Got a chuckle when you were attaching the 100-400. Nikon again chose to have the treading opposite of the other major camera makers. Oh well. Still great gear. Gotta love those fog shots you got; beautiful.
Hi Tom, I have been complaining about the crop issue for nearly 2 years. All the firmware updates at the moment seem to be for the Z9. I would love to see the crop issue solved too.
There is always that extraordinary feeling I get every time I see a landscape photo with a very calm background - mist/lake/clouds. Nothing comes closer to that feeling. Thank you for these wonderful shots ❤️
A cooking solution is a small microwave. As a truck driver here in the states I’m away from home for 4 nights a week and with the electric cooler similar to yours and a microwave oven I’m set every night.
You also have an amazing family which supports your decisions . Their contributions are clearly visible in your content . Hattsoff to them for supporting your legacy your dreams . 🙂
Hi Thomas, glad you’re feeling better. Those are beautiful shots!😁 As always, I really enjoyed this vlog. You really have created your own style to your channel that I just love. I get cozy with a cup of coffee and take in your wonderful photography, awesome footage and interesting voice over work. Your channel was the first that I discovered years ago. I have loved you taking us around the world on your awesome photography adventures, watching you capture gorgeous shots while learning a lot. To this day, I still have times when I’m out struggling to capture a shot and I think, “What might Thomas do here?”. I am a loyal fan of your channel. I’ve learned new helpful things, watched you travel to beautiful locations I had not previously known (and can’t travel to) and see you capture jaw dropping, gorgeous shots. Even the times when you don’t come away with a great pic, or a pic at all, I appreciate seeing those vlogs because they’re real and they show the struggle that landscape photography frequently can be. Those vlogs are also interesting. For all of the effort you have put into your channel and enjoyment you have brought to so many, THANK YOU! Your channel remains fantastic.
I have been with you since day one and have marveled through you landscape journey with you joy of developing and living with your van. But that has to be the best moment of shooting I have seen. That one moment explains more why we do what we do, that moment of peace and tranquility and sheer beauty is just a marvel to see. With all the travelling you have done and the fabulous places you have visited, it happens in woods by a lake on your doorstep in good old blighty. What a moment when nature is just perfect. By the way I have Thomas Calendar and it is well worth buying.
This is some of the most stunning photography (and conditions) I’ve seen on your channel in a while Tom. You are really blessed to have been there for that morning and captured the scene as well as you have. Bravo mate.
05:28 How about a small portable microwave oven, run via an inverter from a 12V power supply? 12:17 The square crop in camera removes the surrounding pixels, which can't be recovered in post I'm afraid.
Great to have you back (and healthy). If a week goes by without you sharing your latest adventure, I miss it. For me, it's like checking in on a friend. Thanks, friend.
You really make a good job of your videos, it's like being there with a good friend (who knows a lot about photography). The places you visit if raining or not doesn't matter and you have me thinking about my next car lol, rainy night in a cozy van then up in the morning to stunning scenery. The extra effort you make filming comming and going meaning you do everything twice, unless you have a secret camera person.
Just amazing.. I just don't get how you do it. You have such an eye for a unique, sublime image. Something just always sets you apart from other landscapers. I can't put my finger on what it is.
Get an electric dual hob for your van. You can plug it into your big battery. Easy to clean and no danger from a naked flame. We use one camping inside our tent.
I have a LWB Delica, only the cam chain tensioner ceased and broke the cam chain, RIP. I found it frustrating that I couldn't wind down the rear windows when shooting wildlife, but it was quite comfy sleeping on the Lay Flat seating. Now use Transit with double mattress when touring France and Spain, as you say, nothing like waking up to a good sunrise with crashing surf 50 yards away.
I love the way you compose your photos. So much thought and the final compositions are amazing. Your videos are so easy and enjoyable to watch. Thankyou.
I’m in love with your lifestyle and van. I’m due to retire within the next two years and I’m desperate to do something similar although my photos won’t be anything like yours. Keep them coming Thomas, I look forward to them every week.
I share your love of the simple practicality of car camping. Aka, boondocking. Given that I shoot a lot at night, it just seems wasteful to pay for hotels and be trapped by reservations. I've done up to 20 days on one 6k mile trip in my metal moving tent, affectionately known as the PhotoSub (2005 Chevy Suburban). I need to get out for more 2 or 3 day trips.
I love videos where you show a lot of your van experiences. You seem like the happiest person in the world doing what you do! And sharing that entire experience is what I enjoy most about your content. I've received my signed copy of your calendar! Thanks for the personal touch. I'm a huge fan of your work!
Incredible how beautiful these images are; It's always a joy for me to watch your videos; they are like... meditation. To allow the beauty of nature, to mediate you! I lOVE it.
Hi Thomas another great video. It really is nice to see how much your confidence has come along these last few years, regarding your presentation to us the audience. You seem more confident and relaxed, which in turn makes a great video. You draw us in on your trip, It makes me really enjoy watching you and by the end of the video be part of your trip...your photos are as usual fab. But you really as I say have become more confident and relaxed with yourself. I am so pleased for you. Carry on your fab videos. Cheers Steve
I do the majority of my camping in the Eastern Sierra. If I was to cook my meals in the van I fear the bears would have a field day ripping the vehicle apart while I was out taking photos.
Great you're feeling better again! The video was worth the wait. Quintessential Heaton: storytelling, adventure, bit of humor and great photography beautifully constructed into 15 minutes of excellent watching. Thanks!
We've been worried all week that something had happened to you last week. We knew it had to be something unusual because you never miss a post. Glad to hear that you have recovered and are feeling better now. Loved this week's water shots. Over the years I've made a few of them with this type of subject matter and always look forward to finding an opportunity. Yours were really inspiring and the mood was captured perfectly.
Good to see you back Tom, hope you're feeling better , I was getting withdrawal symptoms there for a while. Some very nice images, great content, thank you.
Stunning photographs, Thomas! As always, the video was very well done. I enjoyed the cinematography along with the content. Keep up the good work, and can't wait until the next one.
This video is well overdue. I skipped last week due to a severe bout of somethain' nasty. Anyway, I'm all better now and I hope you enjoy this video 👍 Oh, and I'm currently in international waters and might struggle to read comments until tomorrow.
Glad to hear you’re out on adventure since you didn’t get medical clearance for the trip with Brendan. Hope it doesn’t effect you in any other way.
On a ship I hope. Curious as to what model your van is? Oh saw it at the end. Sharp little camper.
I'm taking my lil nissan NV200 out Saturday night... astrophotography is my passion, but weather be damned, I'm having a night away and see what Dawn brings
7:45 storm still continues but he goes shooting anyway, what a hero !
Must be far away still, no lighthing, just thunder.
ahhh. Nothing like the calming sounds of the morning in the middle of nowhere ( 7:44 )
it must have been a duck :P
Ripper!!
so i'm not the only one that heard the "duck" then 😉😄
This kind of small pleasure, sounds of nature !
Lol had to double take. Better out than in
Thank you. All the best. 👍📷😎
Nice to have the Versatility of the Camper Van! Home away from Home.
That last photo with the birch tree is amazing. So soft but the tree pops from the composition.
7:44 sounds like a sneaky morning trump to me. Im laughing anyway. Keep up the good work mate.
Love those pics with the reeds. Many thanks.
Always good to get a Thomas Heaton video notification👌😎
I just want to say my friend, your story telling is just as exceptional as your photography. An example of a TH-cam video being art!
8:51, absolutely no words. Stunning.
the quality of these pictures is amazing…

Glad you made it to D&G Tom. Great video as usual. Good to hear you’ve recovered too.
Awesome veido thanks for posting about your incredible photography
10:30 is a simply beautiful image: simple and beautiful.
You also have an amazing family which supports your decisions . Their contributions are clearly visible in your content . Hattsoff to them for supporting your legacy your dreams . 🙂
glad to see you back, missed you last week ... the bullrushes in the mist are great
Those conditions gives meaning to being a landscape photographer!

wow, what a really nice comment to read. Thank you for taking the time to write it. I hope you continue to enjoy the channel into the future 👍
I agree wholeheartedly. I think you have put into words what many of us are thinking. A Thomas video is always a treat.
My, my mate. You are not just a photographer but a true artist. I aspire to get a shot as good as any in your video today. Bravo!
I really liked the sound of the raindrops falling on the roof in stereo!
Brilliant images, as always.
Last image is gorgeous!! Love the softness of the mist and muted colors.
Stunningly beautiful photos thanks Thomas
Sweden is renowned for one particular film camera but pano....mmmm. Another great vid buddy 👌
Yay! Thomas is back. Great video! I hope you're feeling better.

12:48 I love the way the birch is reaching up to the light, or so it seems. Gorgeous! 👋🇨🇦
I always enjoy watching your videos. Great landscapes and the photos inspire me to step up my game!
Was it a little windy, Thomas, when you set off from the van (7:45) 🤔💨🤣
05:28 How about a small portable microwave oven, run via an inverter from a 12V power supply?

I enjoyed this video Tom, well done.

Stunning Photos!
Classic episode - great - many thanks!
10:33. That photo surprised me. Loved it!
1st and 3rd lake shots are my favs and love the 4 trees in the mist.❤️📷
The images you captured are amazing! Especially, the minimalist reed photo. Wow!
Great video, amazing photos in a stunning location
Raiders' Road
I've been subscribed since your first wild camping video and It blows my mind how good you've become at making these videos and presenting your work.
Thanks a lot, Heath. it's like anything, the more you do something, the better you become 👍
One of your best videos ever along with some spectacular shots. Thanks so much. Glad you’re feeling better. I’m ordering one of your calendars.
The reeds in the second image remind of those early patent pictures of new lenses 😂 Stunning photography though Thomas.
Love that last shot! I’m jealous of your freedom that flows from the use of your van.
The cross section of the forest with three trees is so Heaton! Love it!
That last shot Tom was an absolute stunner mate!
Fog seems to carry a beauty all its own, to places I've seen many times before. Beautiful images and an added mystery of what stove you'll pick.
I love the camping trips, I favored the the first and last photos. Looking forward to the winter weather photos.
Stunning photos mate. Absolute crackers!! ❤
brilliant work. Some artistic thought there
Really enjoyed this one Tom (in fairness I enjoy all of them).
Absolutely love that first minimalist shot. Some might say it's boring or too 'easy', but it's what attracts me the most.
What a difference a day makes, from horrid to superb. Beautiful images in the morning mist 👌 and the van makes it all possible in comfort 👍
Great video! Really missed that. Glad you are back.
This was ethereal... Thomas just giveth and giveth...😄
You really make a good job of your videos, it's like being there with a good friend (who knows a lot about photography). Wow 💥, I can feel the Misty atmosphere through your Photos. Really awosome 👌👌👍👍👍👍
Your sock game is on point!
Just amazing.. I just don't get how you do it. You have such an eye for a unique, sublime image. Something just always sets you apart from other landscapers. I can't put my finger on what it is.
This is the perfect well rounded video.
Super vid with some stunning images Thomas, 👍👍
How come you've not gone down the route of a drone yet? The trees looked like an awesome opportunity for a good image from up high..
Thomas 1 thing I am sat-no no no it's I'm sitting in my van or I sat in my van yesterday, language puts us on the top rung of the evolutionary scale.
Excellent video, warts and all! How did you fix camera on Windscreen?
Get an electric dual hob for your van. You can plug it into your big battery. Easy to clean and no danger from a naked flame. We use one camping inside our tent.
Lovely soft images
Check out portable induction cooktops. Don’t know if it’s possible to connect one inside your van though.
Beautiful shots on the lake, very intimate and soft indeed!
Glad to hear you are doing better

Lovely images, that soft light. Magic!
07:44 what strange sound is that? xD

I like your van setup
I do the majority of my camping in the Eastern Sierra. If I was to cook my meals in the van I fear the bears would have a field day ripping the vehicle apart while I was out taking photos.
I tried the Vango single electric induction hob with my Jackery and it was very good. They’re about fifty quid.
Really hit the jackpot with those conditions. Lovely photos.
Should have gone on 10th Sept...rally cars were blasting their way thru that forest 😁
Fantastic imagery Tom.
These images were absolutely beautiful.
Your videos are outstanding.
Welcome back. Great images there. Do you know whats great after a lasagne? A mint viscount straight from the fridge.
Great you're feeling better again! The video was worth the wait. Quintessential Heaton: storytelling, adventure, bit of humor and great photography beautifully constructed into 15 minutes of excellent watching. Thanks!
