    Real parents are gardeners, not masons. You don't sculpt your children. You help them grow.
    Tell me, Trent, is it of any coincidence that the brightest of your students is the one that spent the most time away from you?

      That's a beautiful analogy. Gardeners, not masons. I'll have to remember that.

    Side note:
    I LOVE Tal's portrayal of Caduceus throughout all this. The eye rolling, dry snickers to himself, wry smiles.... You can really see how he is sitting there thinking 'Wow, this is literally the stupidest thing I think I have ever heard.'

      Cad is very wise but not learned so yeah to him Trent is spouting nonsense, the ravings of a man who has long since forsaken his nature and humanity in exchange for power and control.

      Caleb and the two Mage Disciples (Astrid and Eadwulf) who are practically right next to Trent. Astrid and Eadwulf are like Caleb x2 and Trent is like all three of them x1000 in terms of magic power. Trent Ikithon is practically Darth Sidious in terms of power.

    You know it took all of Beau’s fortitude not to jump the table when Trent started taking credit for Caleb’s accomplishments.
    She knows the game he’s playing, she experienced it as a child. And she also knows that Caleb has achieved what he has IN SPITE of Trent, not because of him.

    • @zane4218
      @zane4218 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s a great point. It’s kind of interesting that Beau and Caleb are so close and relate together well but as far as I can remember they never explicitly acknowledged that it’s because they both had abusive mentors trying to “help” them “achieve their potential”

  • @fatcoyote2

    Yasha & Veth/Nott were ready to literally cut & run, Beau, Jester & Cad were absorbing, and Fjord was calculating escape options, which is why he asked Trent to mess with the tower. He was gauging Trent's wiring, as it were.
    If shit had gone down though, the Nein would've been screwed.

    • @Eadwulf_Skald

      It really depends on how hard Trent would get hit. If it looked as if he was not going to survive it then Astrid and Eadwulf would join Caleb.

      Cerberus Caleb would be a beacon of light and teaching and stability, exerting his influence to promote stability and peace and cooperation with the Dynasty. He would teach young minds the dangers of single-minded pursuits of power, of the various non-violent ways magic can be used to solve problems, and to think laterally and independently.
      Cerberus Bren would be iron-fisted, brutal, with liberal use of Volstruckers and wanton plundering of knowledge and artifacts. With everything the Nein has come across, imagine where he would know to deploy his Volstrucker; Rumblecusp has shards and gateways from other planes on it and could have untold treasures or magical artifacts; He's visited multiple Aeorian Ruins in Eiselcross; He could seize the HFB from Yussah and fully plunder its depths for himself... He would become incredibly powerful, but he would be perhaps even more brutal than Trent, as Trent at least has his eccentricities and idle curiosities, whereas the fully actualized dark side of Caleb that we saw in Ep 127 would have no such idleness or tendencies. He would be a tyrant.
