Your jacket is gorgeous! I was the one who suggested the lined yoke, but hadn’t considered the weight of the heavier canvas. I bought the Love Notions Clef coat pattern and am thinking of making it with the 5oz. canvas. I’m looking forward to seeing your upcoming projects. Happy sewing,Diane.
Thank you Laura!! I will look at the Clef coat pattern from Love Notions! If my memory serves me correctly that pattern is also designed for stable knits! I do love multi-use patterns!
Hey Diane! I wore my Dusty Topaz canvas overalls again today (5 oz canvas) and got yet another compliment. I get compliments every time I wear them out. The canvas is so comfy and the prints are so pretty!. I have been curious about making them up in the heavier canvas because it's winter and my heavy denim garden pair is really great for colder days. Thanks for the example of how this sews up and all of the tips.
No, the seam allowances are already included in the pattern pieces. If I remember correctly the seam allowance is 5/8", unless otherwise mentioned in the pattern steps or on the pattern pieces themselves.
Wonderful question. I use a Juki (non-industrial) sewing machine for sewing seams, etc... I have a Baby Lock Triumph serger for seam finishes and garment construction.
@@sewbatikfabric Thank you! I’m so close to buying a Juki TL 2010 🤞 and so excited about it. After that my next purchase will be a serger 😊👍. I love your videos!
I do own the TL-18QVP (which is a dream), but I sewed the jacket with my older Juki. The TL 2010 will be a wonderful purchase, as will a serger! Every sewing machine purchase regardless of make/model is wonderful. Thank you for your kind words!!
Great question - The jacket is unlined. However, I would love this jacket pattern made with our lighter (5.0 oz) Batik Canvas "with" a quilted cotton lining. It has enough room for the lining and it would be perfect for cool fall/winter days.

You are so very welcome! Happy Sewing!!
Great video as always. Thank you for sharing your information. I am ordering my kit now.
Thank you so much! You will love the Simplicity jacket and the Batik Canvas is the perfect weight for cooler fall evenings!
Do you have to add seam allowance for this project?
No, the seam allowances are already included in the pattern pieces. If I remember correctly the seam allowance is 5/8", unless otherwise mentioned in the pattern steps or on the pattern pieces themselves.
What kind of sewing machine are you using to accommodate the heavier canvas material?

Did you line the jacket by chance?
