Thanks for a great walk with historical information. Always great learn more. Haha, complain on the music? Don’t think it's anything wrong with it lol just that person don't have taste. Weather here is chilly, rainy and dark/grey most of time... and if the temperature drop just a little (this morning 4°Celsius in early morning) we soon will get snow instead of rain. Have a great week John and cheers 🦇🖤🖤🖤🖤🦇
Thanks my friend, actually made me laugh when somebody complained of the music 😂. Its a bit colder here but not too bad yet, I have my warm goth cloths ready as I am sure you have yours ready too. Take care lovely 🖤🖤🦇🦇
I love walking on some of the old Roman roads in the lakes and it always blows my mind thinking I am walking in the steps of the Roman Legionaries. The weather looked great, a bit muddy but for the time of the year, still amazing and those colours in the trees were a pure joy. Cheers Alan
Thanks Alan , yes its great having a connection to our past whilst out walking ,weather has been nice this week but big coat weather next week I've heard. I've really enjoyed the colours of the trees this Autumn . Take care pal 🦇🦇🖤🖤
Hey, gooood to see you again John. Its always interesting to see something from your homeland. P.S. Next village at my homeland is a so called Römerbrücke... over the river Hunte. Its old, but it isnt a roman bridge... Near this village was a big roman legions desaster against the local germans. Not a good place for romans at this time.
Hi, was this the Roman disaster in Kalkriese? If so , I have read a book about Varus and his lost legions and the archaeology, fascinating history, take care dude 🦇🦇 🖤🖤
Nice video, I'm also interested in local history wherever I am, much better than the old school history lessons. I was born in Ashton, though no longer live there and have a good collection of history books and maps of the area, my two favourites being 5,000 Acres Of Old Ashton and England in Ashton under Lyne by Winifred Bowman, in one she has an article of the Roman Road going through Failsworth where she spoke to a local old man who remembered it being exposed where a large gas main was being laid, the wood was dug out and locals collected it. I also spend a lot of time down in Abersoch where I do the same, finding fascinating, interesting walks. Off topic a bit, but have you ever researched Slate Lane in Audenshaw and Slade lane in Manchester, both of which are on the line of one of the many salt road, pack horse routes spreading out from the many ancient salt mines in the Winsford / Northwich areas which were also trading routes and also came through Tameside and the surrounding areas on the way to such as Sheffield and the Pennines. Keep up the interesting videos.
Thank you , much appreciated , thanks for telling me about the book , I will look out for it. Abersoch sounds nice , Wales has a lot of beautiful historic walks and places .I will look into Slate lane and Slade lane , I know where Slade lane is but the history sounds interesting . Best wishes , take care 🙂🙂
I'm studying Archaeology and Anthropology at UCLAN university. This is a great video, and I grew up in Stalybridge. I always thought the road above Cheetham's Park was the Roman road. I will be visiting my mum over Christmas, so I will go looking for this
