We are cruising there next spring. So far we plan on using this port as our excursion. How are the lazy river and pool as destinations instead of booking an excursion?
This is one of my ports for a cruise later in the year. When in comes to safety with kids, should I choose taxi or uber? How long is the drive to the beach? Do I need to just say “take me to the beach” or is there a certain area of the beach to go to.
so.. depends how old your kids are. Just an FYI if they are young, taxi\uber do not have car seats avail. Also, only taxi would be available here. There are not Uber\Lyft drivers in Puerto Plata. You can ask to go to Cosita Rica Beach. It is about 2 ish miles away
I generally don’t recommend those tours as they are unpredictable. I would recommend enjoying the port or using an official cruise line excursion or something like viator
Not planning on booking an excursion, but am interested in enjoying the sunshine and the lazy river. I think I spotted the entrance to the lazy river in your video. Do you recall if there are chairs nearby that river entrance? Thanks for the little overview!
If you leave from a U.S. port and return to US port you need birth cert and drivers license If you leave or return outside the U.S. you would need a passport.
Hi. It depends. If you are a U.S. citizen and the cruise leaves from a U.S. port and returns to a U.S. port you can use you drivers license and actual raised seal birth certificate but it is easier if you have a passport
I will be doing a excursion in a open truck to the countryside to a cigar manufacturer and visit to a local home selling crafts and providing some lunch. Is this safe ?

Cruising there in November. Can you book an adventurous excursion at the bay if your cruise line’s excursions are sold out?
You could but they sell out as well. Viator is a really good option
Arriving in March ..what is the best beach to visit or perhaps day pass at a resort
Is Playa El Chaparral (near Playa del Publito) a good beach?
Hi there. I am not sure. I apologize. I have not been there nor have I heard anything good or bad about it.
We will be there in May on the Seascape. Any suggestions for coffee?
El rincon de cafe was the best coffee I had there!
There are taxis offering city tours online. Is it worth taking them or is it possible to do those things walking from port?
I generally don’t recommend those tours as they are unpredictable. I would recommend enjoying the port or using an official cruise line excursion or something like viator
Is it safe to drink alcohol in the DR Again? A few years back people were dying from tainted and bootleg liquor
It’s fine in the port but I wouldn’t drink on the actual island

Thanks for watching. There sure are chairs there

Yes. They do not have any issues there. Mexico def not but here it’s fine.
@@ByteSizeCruises thank you 😊
What does it cost for a couple to taxi to the beach?
round trip should be about $30 with a tip
So no beach available to use?
Morning the actual port. You can cab to the beach
I just booked a cruise for 2025 on MSC but the port on my itinerary says Amber Cove. I’m confused. Lol.
Hi. Amber Cove is a different port in puerto plata area of DR. It is about 15 min from Taino Bay Puerto Plata
Do you need a passport if I’m going in a cruise

I’m going in couple months can I pick up my lady friend and bring her here while I’m there then take her back on a Uber
The port is a secure area so technically you must have a sea pass card to get in/out.
I am sailing on the Royal Caribbean voyager of the seas ? Which of the two ports does it dock ?
it docks at Taino Bay
@@ByteSizeCruises thank you very much , great video very helpful.
