    Look how far he's grown as a player. From having a game like this, to winning 7 series' in a row with QLD. Hodges is a legend.

    Now the awful memory of that night has been replaced by the good memorys of some of his greatest moments in origin, shows that 1 bad game doesnt mean he can't play origin at all

    I was there that night n I just cldnt believe he passed the first one but to do it twice! Unbelievable.. but wat a player he has become! One of the safest pair of hands in the business now. The broncos wld b in bog trouble without him. Great player, Love hodgos..

    Man Hodgo has been around for years! look at all those old faces. He has come a long way since then being almost a certainty in all rep sides when hes not been injured. He gets the meters every time, you know hes going to scoot from dummy half yet know one can stop him. Haters will hate but hes been a consistant player.

    What a story Hodges made. The worse debute for an origin you will ever see. But he bounced back years later to prove he was one of their great centers. Hodges became such a great player.

    I will favourite this video and come back to watch it many a time. Cant knock the block too much though, I mean, I could count on one hand the number of Origin games I have played in.
    Oh, and did you REALLY have to include that last 20 or so seconds??

  • @MultiAmbivalent
    @MultiAmbivalent 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Is it possible a lot of this can be attributed to him playing on the wing? It's possible he wasn't accustomed to things like running back from his own deadball, trying to pick up grubber kicks in the corners etc. I forgot he was on the wing for this game, so I wouldn't be surprised if he was just lost and subsequently overawed.

    That's the thing mate. I'm a QLDER but that's what's wrong with NSW. They change the squad every single year instead of sticking to the same squad and improving. Just look at QLD's squad, even those who played terrible games stay in game after game, year after year. QLD have faith in their players to perform and improve, whereas NSW (for 7 years) has been looking for the quickest way to beat QLD...it's almost like a gamble.

  • @danielkautu3409

  • @dcc1980
    @dcc1980 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    From memory Hodges was playing for the Roosters at the time of this game. He always did play his best football with the Broncos and fortunately he came back. Hodges played another ordinary game for Queensland years later which almost put him in state of orgin exile ala (Rhys Wesser, Matty Bowen,Terry Campese and Robbie Farah). Farah has redeemed himself last year.
    Anyway Hodges redeemed himself in the 2006 series proving he is State of Orgin worthy. Rather then just a good club player.
