No she didn't win, but Susan was (and still is) the true star of BGT 2009. Most acts from these shows rarely last longer than 5 years and runner ups often disappear completely, but not Susan.

First time I saw her, I too made a huge mistake. The old adage, never ever judge a book by its cover, is true. Susan won my heart as I've personally never heard a voice so perfect, so complete that even today after all this time gone by, she brings me to my knees in tears of absolute joy and peace. God has indeed blessed this women with a very special gift. She truly is an angel on this earth......🌺
The fact that she is standing still on the stage, does not have to expose her in any way. It is enough with the very awesome voice she has. A good thing, not every great artists can perform without dancing, or things behind her. She is complete without adding anything !!!! ♥️

Susan sounds so natural. She never shouts or screams like most singers these days. She's music to the ear.
When you say "shout" you're probably pertaining to broadway performance of this song particularly. Performing it in Les Miserables live in broadwayrequires si gers to exert more emotions, and therefore ki da like shouting. Broadway performance is way different than normal singing.

You're absolutely right. Her vocals are flawless here, beautifully refined and controlled. So called pop stars nowadays have never been taught to sing properly. They couldn't carry a tune to save themselves.
actually a lot of singing reality TV shows pitch correct the vocals you hear, its just not "autotune" like you expect. they probably are not that intensely out of tune, but they for sure clean it up from what we hear at home!
