Few years back working shutdowns out of town ,half my crew wasn't supposed to leave the state. The company decided if they wanted to get any of the projects finished, some questions were best left unanswered.
I was working with a crew that would go outta state and we had one guy that we would have to randomly hurry back because his PO said she was doing a home visit the next morning. Edit to add: there was also one guy that was a convicted murderer out on parole that ended up stabbing and killing another person about two weeks after he joined the crew. It was self defense but he was still a convicted felon carrying a concealed weapon (his knife).

My brothers small custom fabrication company ran into this problem when they started work on SFO. Turns out my brother and the bosses son were the only ones able to pass a security test because of a combo of not being inthe country legally and felonies. That bumped my brothers importance in the company by a lot.
Clearly the people wanting the work done are new to the industry and don't understand how things work yet. If they did, they never would have asked for those background checks in the first place.
