What was cheap and what was expensive? I was SHOCKED. Some things were really affordable and some things were more money in pounds than dollars! Want me to do a video with british art supplies? If you think that's cheap go to The Works while you're here. Makes me feel flush. You get about 50 items for twenty quid then they give you a pile of 20% off vouchers/coupons and you can do it all again next time 😂

I thought Artist Loft was a Michael's thing too 🤯

Well, some products of Artist Loft you only find at Michael's, but yeah I thought it was all at Michael's too lol
Michaels, and a lot of retail stores really, are distributors rather than manufacturers. Michaels has a lot of 'house brands' that are only sold by them. But what that really means is that in the US and Canada, Michaels is the exclusive retailer and distributor of those brands. Apparently in the UK Hobbycraft is a distributor of Artist Loft. I wonder if they also carry Recollections, Craftsmart, Bead Landing, etc.
Thoughts so too was literally just told that at Michaels yesterday.

The brushes which you called "horrible" & "hay on sticks" is very useful to us artists who do fabric manipulation such as Batik! The rough bristles work really well in retaining the dye so that it can be brushed on to the fabric without completely leaking everywhere before even making it onto the fabric 😂😂
I go to Hobbycraft every weekend! It's the only decent art shop we have and I love it SO MUCH, just like your channel! ❤️

Yep. I'm literally doing some art with those products. My massive set of paints was £21 so about 29$ for 20 acrylic paints.

As a british artist, I live off hobby craft😂🙃 but honestly, the prices can be pretty big- but the 'knock off' brands (if you can call it that) aren't so pricey, usually under £10
I've been living in England since birth and have never been to HobbyCraft before hehe

It’s hard to stop a child from screaming. I feel bad for the parent
But it's easy to leave the store. I get that having a child is hard but allowing them to continue like that just teaches them its ok
I was just about to say the same! Sometimes kids just have a bad day. They scream for absolutely nothing. Yes, you can leave the store but that will teach them they can get their way with screaming. People that complain about the child clearly don't have kids themself!
@@amymbartell you can't stop them from screaming. And if u leave you let them win. So therefore, you just let them be, finish as fast as possible and leave.
Most of the time kids scream because they can’t form the words to express how they feel. If they’re frustrated, sad or really anything, and can’t find the words or gestures for it they’ll scream. I truly wish more people were understanding. Like don’t get me wrong, it can be annoying af but I get it.
It didn’t bother me at all, I only noticed it a couple times while I was actually in there and moreso whilst editing, so I made light of it because it happened so frequently while I was talking and I would have comments pointing out they couldn’t hear me, etc. :) I know how hard children can be to control sometimes.

The fact that Jamie makes amazing art with cheap supplies just shows that you don’t need expensive things to make beautiful things, like Chole said.
Everyone in school asks me how I make such aesthetic cute notes with supplies from Tesco (from the UK btw) , and I just say you don’t need expensive things to make beautiful stuff.

I like the works . Fantasic prices, especially when they occasionally reduce things. Some of the art stuff isn't too brilliant but a lot of it is really good given the price.

Alisha Wright the works doesn’t sell decent quality stuff though and no real range of stuff. It’s ok for stuff for children and the odd bits and pieces, I got good tracing paper from there, but I’ve never seen quality stuff in there!

i buy canvases from the works (Crawford and blacks) and home bargains for reallyyy cheap. the works also do really good paints and brushes and pencils etc
i bought a set of 12 oil colours for £3 and they're really really good quality
I don't understand why people praise posca pens so much. I prefer Molotow
9:20 i actually have seen those "makeup" sponges at michael's before! they actually are art sponges, they're part of an art supply collection thats design and inspired by makeup tools. like paintbrushs that look like makeup brushes and paints or pastels that look like eyeshadow. its actually really cool. its called Jane Davenport "Making Faces".
