As a lesbian, I can confirm that never in a million years would I wear a dress that looks like that. I’m not a butch lesbian either and genuinely love the colors on our flag, but whenever it’s just plastered onto a dress like that, it just looks tacky and lazy to me.
@@ladynoluck I was thinking of wearing it with some pink sandals and leggings underneath and then I'll put a dupatta on top of the dress, mix some stuff up
I always buy my gay gear from Etsy or Shopify. Or direct from the people who make it (in the case of Trash Queen, Fluide, et cetera) since not only are you supporting small businesses, you're also supporting LGBT+ artists, makers, and shop owners. And that's cool.
Girl- my aunt went to Target the other day, and when she got back she handed me a wrapped stuffie and told me to open it. When I tell you I was shocked to find a freaking bat stuffie with the trans pride flag as it's colors, I mean SHOCKED. Jason the ftm bat is now hung on my door and will stay there until I die
FTM here. I *distinctly* remember being 12 years old and sitting in the car when a radio commercial for a marketing fair came on. The person in the advertisement was urging companies to market to LGBTQ people, saying "they often have disposable income, no children, and have been proven to demonstrate great brand loyalty". This was back in the early 00's. They literally had to BEG companies to market to us, to see us as a demographic, because back then, supporting us meant financial certain death. Companies exist literally to sell stuff. That is all they do. If they want to treat us like everyone else, finally, then that's progress. It's normalizing. Everyone is all "representation matters" and then when we get recognized, then you're mad about it? Do you want them to just ignore Pride month? I'm not trying to be mean, but why don't you find a 60 year old gay man who grew up having to hide who he was, who grew up in an era when mocking gay people was acceptable, and ask him how he would have felt if, when he was 20 years old, he was suddenly transported into a Target in the year 2022 and saw that a major store was openly selling Pride stuff. Maybe this tacky Pride shit isn't for us. Maybe it's for the older LGBT people. It's not always about our age group.
@@HarpsiFizz i mean unless you’re projecting and you’re actually the 60yo gay man you don’t need to be white knighting for them lol they can speak for themselves if they care enough to argue about colorful clothes on the internet Also OP’s comment specifically talked about corporations begging for trans wallets while not actually donating any notable profits to the organizations that will actually make a difference, not whether or not the products should exist in the first place 😚
Honestly shocked they even included the lesbian flag at all. Usually we don’t exist when it comes to pride inclusion. A win for lesbians, capitalism has our backs too 😍
Aww 😭 I make pride hearts for my friends during pride and even if our group is just three trans gay boys (including me 💀) I always add in the lesbian flag because it’s so pretty and I usually leave it at a random spot in a store for someone to find ❤️
great that target is selling binders. Unfortunately, they partnered up with a transphobic company to do it. For anyone unaware, Tomboyx misgendered one of their models and when said model tried to call them out they blocked and cut contact. GC2B or any other company (just do research on them) works great! 🏳🌈
i actually got my binder from gc2b and it’s really great :D there’s also several different styles and colors they have a crap ton of sizes too (and a guide on how to find your size) as well as a q&a section with commonly asked questions and stuff. the binders are kind of expensive though, i got mine for $40 and had to have a friend order it for me ;
It honestly makes me mad that Target uses the community lesbian pride flag (the orange and pink one) and keeps all the profits while Emily Gwen, the person who made the design, is living in poverty and has to ask for Ko-fi donations regularly to meet their rent. Not saying Target and other corporations shouldn't use this design, but they should redistribute some of that profit to Emily.
That isn't the only shitty thing to happen regarding pride flags. Just look at the horrible ace flag that WASN'T even designed by ace people. It actively stereotypes us as bland and boring and I will never understand how so many ace people aren't mad about it.
@@zebraloverbridget huh? im ace myself and idk what you're on about. if you don't like it then it's fine, but if i recall correctly the flag was chosen by the community on the aven forums, where many designs were being proposed by different people, and the current one won. i dont know anything about the person themselves, but it was chosen by the community and is a huge part of it, and our fight for visibility. changing it now that it's starting to be recognized would be stupid. besides, idk why you say it stereotypes us. yes, its not very colorful, but it makes sense with the meanings. the black, grey and white is the whole sexuality spectrum, which is usually depicted with a white to black gradient on an inverse triangle (that we made, i think) and purple for community. its short, simple, and recognizable. besides, many flags on the aspec have been made based off of/inspired by it, sooo... too late? i dont think its lack of color is a huge issue compared to the great impact it has on our community and activism.
"Trans rights are human rights--that'll tell 'em!" I choked and spat my water out everywhere at this. I say the same thing all the time with that super sarcastic tone and it's so fucking funny every time. We laugh so we don't cry :)
say what you will, but honestly, this year's target pride collection is *so* much better than last year's lmfao. but as a lesbian, the lesbian flag dress cracked me tf up
Yes they're improving, which you would think is a good thing but with how many corporations are trying to be sneaky about "supporting" LGBT+, but actually not it is kind of a bad thing. But as they say "there's no ethical consumption under capitalism"
That's really sweet! It can be very difficult for older generations to accept inclusivity, they grew up and learned how to survive and get through life in a world with a different narrative than ours. I'm glad your mother is showing some support. My sympathies that communication isn't the easiest between you two, she might not know yet how to talk to you but it seems like she's ready and open to learn. If you enjoy animation I'd recommend checking out King of The Hill, if you haven't seen it it's an adult animated cartoon that revolves largely around Hank (a very conservative and traditional man) and his relationship with his son Bobby who doesn't fit in to Hank's strict ideals. It's heartwarming to watch them come to an understanding with one another in a realistic way.
Just a heads up to anyone who liked the "Busy thinking about girls" shirt, the artist is named Jenifer Prince, and she has a ton of designs that are like that for sale if you wanted to buy from her instead of from Target!
yeah i thought i recognised it - i hope target are actually paying her. companies so often find art online and just shove it on a shirt without permission.
tomboy x is actually a super transphobic brand fun fact 😭 a friend of mine, (trans ftm) worked for them as a model for a bit. not only did they cast him to model their "women celebration" print but according to him, they reduced his identity to his genitals, constantly misgendered him, and overall made him feel super uncomfortable the whole time. oh and btw, they don't sell binders they sell compression bras which to their credit, work pretty well, but its still false advertising. i cant blame anyone who buys one if they don't have any other options, but if u can pls try not to support this company
@@baharalimohammadi6579 well, people can identify as tomboys... the existence of tomboys itself does not invalidate the existence of trans men. same with femboys and trans women. it only becomes an issue when people view themselves as trans men/women and get reduced to being tomboys/femboys by other people.
@@helyphion tomboys arent an identity..? Definition: a girl who enjoys rough, noisy activities traditionally associated with boys. it is not an identity. Plus, its just the companys name.
@@buffchicken8201 Being a tomboy can be a part of someone's identity. I think what you mean is that it's not a label for a gender identity, which I agree with (unless someone wants to label their gender as that, I guess). Usually someone who identifies as a tomboy still defines their gender identity as female, it's just their gender presentation that's different. And yes, it's the company's name. But I don't see how having "tomboy" in their name automatically indicates that they're transphobic.
honestly that is a neat text based neo pronoun concept, I've seen some really neat ones in discord groups XD Generally there are lot of people/pronouns that I'd say could be considered as "in-betweens" since the spectrum isn't linear or 2d - neo pronoun users and gnc individuals come to mind first; those that like it/its or those that like no pronouns at all; agender, neutrois, or off spectrum genders, etc etc. Nonbinary people that aren't like what people stereotypically think of are out there or might not have the words to describe themselves yet or ever maybe. I use they/them but consider myself more of an "in-between" nonbinary person just cause of how.... like.. fluid or absent my gender can be moment to moment. They/them is alright as a acceptable umbrella pronoun option to get by in this limiting language issue, as there aren't words that accurate describe me or my pronouns, but since English or Japanese doesn't have the words I just settled for they/them. The whole thing is wild to think about personally, but yeh, sorry for rambling XD
Also when he was looking at that ugly see through bag and was like... "PUT IT IN A BAG AND DROP IT BEFORE THE METAL DETECTOR!"...Now that's like Part one Anti-gay video!... What a classic! 🤣
I still think about that time I saw the target pride section and this employee literally came up to me saying "It's not worth it" then showed me several Queer creator websites that were selling pride clothes. She will forever be remembered❤
I feel like big companies should stop focusing on “YASSS DLAY HUNTY MAMA YOU ATE THIS UP YASSS SLAYED RAINBOWS GAYYY SLAY GIRL QUEEN” and more on “the numbers of de@d lgbtqia+ people are rising each day 🤭”
the FEAR i get during pride month now is overwhelming. last year i got harassed in a library by an old man waving a bible and a pamphlet in my face, which is just the tip of the iceberg. i live in a small town in the south so almost everyone here is chronically homophobic. i get laughed at in the hallways at school and constantly called slurs. i have no way of showing pride in my town without feeling extremely unsafe. my partner and i couldn’t hold hands at school or in public at all for months. my highschool had a day of silence with GLSEN a while back and we all got harassed the entire day. i couldn’t keep track of the amount of times i got called the f-slur and even the t-slur. things are definitely getting better but we still have such a long way to go. i hate that companies can capitalize on our suffering by throwing rainbows on stuff and making us feel a small amount of safe.
I'm so sorry to hear that friend. I know I can't put up a pride flag or I might get my windows smashed (small town too) but that.....goddamn. I hope someday you manage to get outta that town. I promise, it does get better after you get out of school, and I hope so so much that that terror doesn't stay with you for years to come. Stay strong friend, even if I don't know you personally I'm cheering you on ❤️
@@HarpsiFizz two things can be true at the same time. A lot of the lesbians I know who enjoy dresses lean more towards cottagecore. They should've just done a normal, frilly dress with the lesbian flag color palette! That would've been a million times cuter.
@@fourthpanda it's because it's so lazy. They literally just cut and pasted the lesbian flag on a dress. And the dark pink is barely there if at all! Also not to generalize, but it doesn't really fit in with the more commonplace sapphic fashion tastes either. And a handful of people here follow the creator of the lesbian flag on twitter, so thinking of how much profit target is going to make while Emily Gwen is struggling to pay the bills & making zero dollars off a corporation just straight up slapping her flag on a dress makes it sting a little more. But I mean, if you think you can make that gaudy dress look gorgeous on you or even just camp, then absolutely go for it bestie!
“QUEENNNNNNNNN” *drinks alcohol aggressively* Oh and yeah, binders are VERY hard to get. I’m female to non-binary so seeing a binder available like that makes me so excited!
I found out that tomboyX makes binders and have a couple, their good. Although I think the price has gone up but cheaper than others I've found (just looked and their about $40 not including tax)
I got one for my sibling at ForThem, it's pretty pricey (usually $48 sometimes plus shipping) but you actually measure yourself so they fit all nice and the company is actually founded and run by Trans and Non binary people
I prefer gc2b! I got one in middle school for like 35 dollars? It is VERY pricey but I prefer to use them. I haven’t gotten myself a new one but I should.
I feel like instead of clothes they should sell pride flags, books, binders, and other important, educational stuff for LGBTQ+ people to have and give all the profits to charities Edit: i know they already have binders. I saw that, but still wanted to include it in what i think they should have. Didn't know about the pride flags, though
Can we just talk about the fact that target ONLY sells binders during pride month and never any other time of the year...😑 As a genderfluid person who can't always order shit online for fear of my parents finding out about it, it makes me kinda mad
Idk, I was personally pleasantly surprised that a corporation like TARGET was selling binders at all. Sure it would be better if they’d sell them throughout the year, but they’re cheap and from what I’ve heard, effective and so much more accessible than most of the other specialty sites you have to go to
I know! I would kinda like to buy one (without my parents’ knowing) but our Target is closed due to a fire we had a while ago and is opening sometime this summer. I’m worried I’m gonna miss the collection bc my store probably won’t open until at least mid summer
Binder advice! Here’s some ideas for any closeted ftm/ftx as to how to get a binder without your parents figuring out. I’m trans and have a bunch of trans friend for whom I am the “binder fairy” so I’d know lol. 1. Find someone you know is supportive and have them get a binder delivered to their house. You can either pay them upfront w/ cash or they can gift it to you, depending on the person’s generosity. 2. Get a visa gift card, they’re available at Walgreens, Walmart, Target, and most grocery stores. That way you can purchase online w/ out arousing suspicion. That still leaves the question of the delivery address, but if you feel confident in your ability to snag it without parents finding out, could be worth a try. 3. Some organizations like Trevor Project have binder giftings that they do (usually seasonal though). You can create a burner email and enter yourself for the drawings. Same address problem as 2. GC2B usually has sales going on for pride but as others have mentioned it’s still pretty pricy. I’ve been binding for three years now and they’ve always been my go-to. Last about 6 months at max binding capacity but still are effective after that, just not quite as tight. If you end up getting a binder that you have to hide from your parents, school is a great place to sneak it. If you have a locker you can keep it in, desk, cubby, something that’s easy to access but secure. You can change into it in a restroom in the morning and out at the end of the day, wash it in a sink. Hope any of this helps somebody!
maybe this is just me, but whenever I see stuff like the ‘queen’ overalls, they always feel more mocking than celebratory to me and I can’t even explain why
what really grinds my gears is that's practically all it had. a tiny little rainbow(s?) and the word queen is not "pride wear". how in the world.. that's not giving any real message, not something you wouldnt see on 'woke' overalls they sell any other month and it's mocking/disappointing imao
it's because it feels like they're stereotyping gay people down to some slangs and mannerisms. Like, do we say queen? Yes, a lot of us do. But the way they just plastered it on there comes off like some homophobes going "okay, we need to finish this stupid pride collection so we can move on with our lives. These overalls aren't gay enough. What's something that gay people say that we can throw on there to make it gay enough?"
It feels very stereotyped. Also, it makes me cringe to my core because it makes me think of those shirts that say “I’m his queen” or “Mommy’s princess”.
the overall lack of effort and the stereotyping definitely contribute to it, for sure, I don’t know why I couldn’t put my finger on it earlier to be honest
My mom threw away my binder and I could’ve gave someone who needed it instead of wasting it. I’m trans and I get from a nice organization who gives free binders for people in need. I want to cry now.
The binders are the best part imo and I like how they're selling them as "compression bras" too so if you're still in the closet you may be able to get a binder without having to explain that it is something other than a bra.
They're compression bras because they don't actually bind anything. I still support them being sold obviously, but I wish they weren't spread around as being binders. I wear one personally, but it's more of an alternative for days I can't wear my actual binder.
Here's the thing: corporations that "donate" then use that donation as a tax write off. So Target will make any money donated back in the form of tax deductions. Same thing goes for those "would you like to round up to donate to x charity" that you see at check out. If you like the item, get it, there is no ethical consumption under capitalism anyway. BUT if you want to support the charities the item is "supporting," you have a MUCH better impact just donating to the organization yourself. And as a bonus, you now get the tax write off!
I found a gay flag colored penguin in Target once, and then I started laughing so hard that I fell to the ground, nearly seizing. An employee asked if I was okay, and me, being the gayest fucking man on Earth, grabbed his hand tight and when he pulled me up, I said, "I am now." We are now engaged because of that one moment I started seizing over a green, white and blue penguin.
Disney is apparently doing a Pride collection this year too. They really think some rainbow capitalism is gonna make the gays forget about that Florida mess lmaooo They really said "don't say gay but please say pay! 🤑"
Its so funny. They'll cancel shows with gay in it but then got behind people with going against the don't say gay bill, but only after people bombarded them asking what they thought
The one good thing about being non binary and it not being as widely accepted yet is that around pride time, corporations don't commercialize the shit out of our existence yet lmao
I’m actually proud of Target Pride for having a swimsuit that made me feel comfortable in my body and also having it in my size. As a big trans dude I don’t see that a lot. But I still agree not to spend loads of money on corporations just because they find consumer value out of us now
The binders make me so happy, cause it allows trans people in closeted/dangerous situations to actually get binders! Instead of leaving a paper trail of using a credit card to buy one online just for it to come in the mail and have to stress about the packaging being discrete or their parents opening it and finding out, they can instead buy that shit at target in cash and hide it away More of that! *more of that!*
Those aren't actually binders though, they're compression sports bras which are already a thing you can get in person. And target actually has other sports bras that work much better for flattening your chest than the TOMBOYX ones. Also TOMBOYX is a highly transphobic company making clothing for the "uwu girl power tomboy who hates being fem" crowd falsely parading themselves as trans inclusive. They constantly misgendered and harassed ftm trans models, reduced them down to their agab, tried to make one model a "women celebration" print and used terfy imagery in their women celebration collection ads.
I came out to my mom recently (sort of. She literally just said that it was extremely obvious) and she is supportive in the funniest way ever. Like she will randomly ask if she can buy me pride flag things (shoes, etc) and it's really sweet
@@arny625 I don't even know what gave it away for me. We were driving somewhere and she said that it was very obvious that I liked girls and that I may as well confirm it 💀
I literally just walked into the kitchen one day and said “I joined my schools gay club because women are hot.” And my mother just looked at me and went: “Eh. You’re too young, this’ll blow over.” Three years later I’m not even a girl anymore.💀
Yeah, it was hard for me to find anything other than gay merch, which is cool, but I can't find much ace things in places like Target. However, I managed to find a small pin and maybe some other things at Spencer's. I feel like some of the other sexualities merch may be found at stores like that or online, while Target may only include the L, G, B, and T flags. I could be wrong though.
Torrid already has their Pride collection out, and honestly it's kinda cute. I prefer Torrid and Hot Topic's allyship over Target because while yes, they are both still corporations, Torrid and HT's support isn't limited to just one month, it's year-round. They don't have their Pride collection available for "a limited time" and then take it down when it's "over", they have it available all year and still have it set up that a portion of the money they get from the items goes to LGBT+ organizations. Plus Torrid and Hot Topic do more for support by actually hiring LGBT+ folx, and offering them benefits if they become full-time employees... unlike Target that don't do that, or even go out of their way to protect the rights of the one or two LGBT+ employees they may have hired by accident because they operate on the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" model, because the store's management is completely indifferent to their employees needs (unless it's a member of management or one of management's "favorites" that is dealing with the _"injustice"_ ) . At least that's how the Target my youngest brother works at operates, and I can't imagine the others being any different.
@@Holy_Roomba just in general torrid had gone very disappointingly bland. Like if I wanted to shop Woman Within I would, I don't need Woman Within version Millenial.

yeah I secretly bought one last week and while it's probably not the best option out there it's so much safer and more comfortable than my homemade one so I'll take what I can get lmao
As long as the issues aren’t safety related, that’s so big. When I came out every single binding tutorial begged people to not use ace bandages, and the only binders you could find were stiff uncomfortable things from underworks that cost a fortune and took weeks to ship. I haven’t heard of anyone using ace bandages in years and to be able to go to a regular store like target and buy a chest compressor, I can’t even describe how hopeful that makes me feel for the trans youth of today. We’ve really come so far!
@@AwsomenessRain yup, even when I came out only round 4 years ago? Most binding tips were just please don't use ace bandages and please make sure any homemade binder you make is safe. it makes me so happy to see them selling binders now. makes me hopeful that more trans people won’t have to experience shopping for a sports bra 2 sizes too tight that could end up causing rib damage later down the line.
And, hopefully they have a sizing chart online and in store so first time buyers aren't getting the wrong size. Because that can also do some serious harm, especially if you don't know how a binder should fit.
Now if only companies would stop claiming to be inclusive while actively leaving out smaller sizes. At this point I'll end up able to get a reduction done way before they make binders that fit me. (Non binary so I don't want a complete removal of breast tissue. just want 80-90% gone)

I really, REALLY hope they have a binder sizing chart online and in store, because an improper fitting binder sucks. Too tight and you can have rib, lung, and chest damage. Too loose and you won't get any compression.
They can probably get away with it better because it's a 'compression top" which is slightly different, and less likely to cause issues, but its still stupid and a classic example of rainbow capitalism
@@ieaterasers5986 They should have sizing charts to help you. And if they don't, don't buy from them. And always buy with the bust in mind. Dollars wise, I still don't love spending money with Nike making their sneakers in Vietnam in a borderline sweatshop But the custom pride platform sneakers I designed and ordered last year are relatively worth the price
The only thing I like about Target pride stuff is that they’ve branched out to other flags than just the gay and trans ones, which not every company has. I NEVER get asexual pride stuff unless I pay a million dollars on Etsy, and sometimes I want a cheap pair of ace socks or sunglasses, y’all. I try to buy independent pride merch as much as I can, but my wallet appreciates $5 pride stuff lol
i genuinely hate when large corporations try to profit off communities like LGBTQIA+ for pride month but, im glad they sold binders (specially since they're cheap), because not everyone has access to safe alternatives very often & bc not everyone can choose where they can buy that stuff due to their parents
Targets collection is funny as hell sometimes, but I must appreciate the fact that they're selling fucking binders and packing underwear like that will literally save trans kids. Also Target is one 9f the few corporations that does donate to LGBT organizations throughout the year and not just pride month, and thus one of the few places I spend my money
Theyre also planning on eventually selling specific pride items like those year round. A lot of the comments under this video are very..uneducated tbh. Like im not a corporation fanatic, but most of targets pride collection this year was specifically made BY queer people and small businesses, the tags have photos of the artists behind them and info on them and the website has info on them. I feel bad for them cuz everyone’s assuming target alone made this stuff and are bashing it when its mostly items real queer people made and are proud of 💀 targets one of the few corporations that doesnt pander, they’ve already told customers to stop supporting them for complaining about them selling pride items and its only june 10th lol. They got in heat because a woman accused their trixie and katya merch of being mysogynistic (because its men in drag type bullshit) and target responded telling the person that they dont care how they feel and wont stop selling the item
Those aren't binders though, they're compression sports bras which already a thing you can get in person. And target has other sports bras that work better for flattening your chest than the TOMBOYX ones. And TOMBOYX is a very transphobic company that has harassed their trans models and reduced them down to their genitals.
I got an ad halfway through the video and in the game it advertised if you chose to go the heterosexual route you can start an empire and if you chose the homosexual route you can become close with your friend…
Target is selling packing underwear too! That’s the only thing I’m getting from this collection. I do wish they included a collection/brand that makes items for trans women/trans fem people though. Seems kinda weird that they’re not included

Honestly I just love that every year Target’s pride collection comes out and people make tons of videos critiquing it and then the next year the collection becomes a little bit better. As much as we like to harp on the big corporations, it’s nice to see one that is at least trying to pay attention to the legitimate criticism and make some changes.

@@HarpsiFizz i mean unless you’re projecting and you’re actually the 60yo gay man you don’t need to be white knighting for them lol they can speak for themselves if they care enough to argue about colorful clothes on the internet

great that target is selling binders. Unfortunately, they partnered up with a transphobic company to do it. For anyone unaware, Tomboyx misgendered one of their models and when said model tried to call them out they blocked and cut contact. GC2B or any other company (just do research on them) works great! 🏳🌈
i actually got my binder from gc2b and it’s really great :D
there’s also several different styles and colors
they have a crap ton of sizes too (and a guide on how to find your size) as well as a q&a section with commonly asked questions and stuff. the binders are kind of expensive though, i got mine for $40 and had to have a friend order it for me ;
Thanks, I'll make sure to check GC2B for my transition!
EXACTLY!! They literally cut off the last fucking color too on the pride flag
@@zebraloverbridget wait which one?
@@zebraloverbridget Ace here-i personally really like our flag, but i would like to know your source on the "not made by ace people"?
@@zebraloverbridget huh? im ace myself and idk what you're on about. if you don't like it then it's fine, but if i recall correctly the flag was chosen by the community on the aven forums, where many designs were being proposed by different people, and the current one won. i dont know anything about the person themselves, but it was chosen by the community and is a huge part of it, and our fight for visibility. changing it now that it's starting to be recognized would be stupid. besides, idk why you say it stereotypes us. yes, its not very colorful, but it makes sense with the meanings. the black, grey and white is the whole sexuality spectrum, which is usually depicted with a white to black gradient on an inverse triangle (that we made, i think) and purple for community. its short, simple, and recognizable. besides, many flags on the aspec have been made based off of/inspired by it, sooo... too late? i dont think its lack of color is a huge issue compared to the great impact it has on our community and activism.

tomboy x is actually a super transphobic brand fun fact 😭 a friend of mine, (trans ftm) worked for them as a model for a bit. not only did they cast him to model their "women celebration" print but according to him, they reduced his identity to his genitals, constantly misgendered him, and overall made him feel super uncomfortable the whole time. oh and btw, they don't sell binders they sell compression bras which to their credit, work pretty well, but its still false advertising. i cant blame anyone who buys one if they don't have any other options, but if u can pls try not to support this company

what is a / ???
honestly that is a neat text based neo pronoun concept, I've seen some really neat ones in discord groups XD
Generally there are lot of people/pronouns that I'd say could be considered as "in-betweens" since the spectrum isn't linear or 2d - neo pronoun users and gnc individuals come to mind first; those that like it/its or those that like no pronouns at all; agender, neutrois, or off spectrum genders, etc etc. Nonbinary people that aren't like what people stereotypically think of are out there or might not have the words to describe themselves yet or ever maybe.
I use they/them but consider myself more of an "in-between" nonbinary person just cause of how.... like.. fluid or absent my gender can be moment to moment. They/them is alright as a acceptable umbrella pronoun option to get by in this limiting language issue, as there aren't words that accurate describe me or my pronouns, but since English or Japanese doesn't have the words I just settled for they/them. the FEAR i get during pride month now is overwhelming. last year i got harassed in a library by an old man waving a bible and a pamphlet in my face, which is just the tip of the iceberg. i live in a small town in the south so almost everyone here is chronically homophobic. i get laughed at in the hallways at school and constantly called slurs. i have no way of showing pride in my town without feeling extremely unsafe. my partner and i couldn’t hold hands at school or in public at all for months. my highschool had a day of silence with GLSEN a while back and we all got harassed the entire day. i couldn’t keep track of the amount of times i got called the f-slur and even the t-slur. things are definitely getting better but we still have such a long way to go. i hate that companies can capitalize on our suffering by throwing rainbows on stuff and making us feel a small amount of safe.

Idk, I was personally pleasantly surprised that a corporation like TARGET was selling binders at all. Sure it would be better if they’d sell them throughout the year, but they’re cheap and from what I’ve heard, effective and so much more accessible than most of the other specialty sites you have to go to
This is the reason I don’t have and bi stuff
I don't know if it's just in my city but I can't even find the binders on their website anymore...
13:28 “What in the substitute art teacher, girl-“ I died laughing 😂😂😂
maybe this is just me, but whenever I see stuff like the ‘queen’ overalls, they always feel more mocking than celebratory to me and I can’t even explain why
what really grinds my gears is that's practically all it had. a tiny little rainbow(s?) and the word queen is not "pride wear". how in the world.. that's not giving any real message, not something you wouldnt see on 'woke' overalls they sell any other month and it's mocking/disappointing imao
it's because it feels like they're stereotyping gay people down to some slangs and mannerisms.
Usually when I see Queen on clothes it's wine mom type stuff, so this made me feel gross

The binders are the best part imo and I like how they're selling them as "compression bras" too so if you're still in the closet you may be able to get a binder without having to explain that it is something other than a bra.
The brand markets them as compression bras, its not a target thing. The brand is also problematic, but I suppose at least there's an option now
Agreed
They're compression bras because they don't actually bind anything. I still support them being sold obviously, but I wish they weren't spread around as being binders. I wear one personally, but it's more of an alternative for days I can't wear my actual binder.
They don't bind, they're just a sports bra. And the brand is also incredibly transphobic.
It just makes me feel weird that it has tomboys on it instead of trans people, but I understand that it can expose people's identities
And that's not getting into the charities which are more like money laundering schemes than actual businesses.

The Disney TV account made a post about Lumity too 💀
Its so funny. They'll cancel shows with gay in it but then got behind people with going against the don't say gay bill, but only after people bombarded them asking what they thought
l m f a ooo
I cracked up when I saw a article saying that Disney was having pride merch
The part where he poured another glass and then drank out of the bottle instead... I felt that.
The one good thing about being non binary and it not being as widely accepted yet is that around pride time, corporations don't commercialize the shit out of our existence yet lmao
Ah give it time, we'll all be consumed by corporations before the decade is out
Same here for pansexuality and basically all the "+" in lgbtq+. Ig being forgotten came with an advantage :)
Except for that confusing “thems and the theys” tshirt LMAO
I found Non-Binary socks and sunglasses at Target and wanted to buy them so bad 😔
don't let them know... they'll be coming for us soon
Instead of leaving a paper trail of using a credit card to buy one online just for it to come in the mail and have to stress about the packaging being discrete or their parents opening it and finding out, they can instead buy that shit at target in cash and hide it away
More of that!
My mother said “you sure” girl I walked out
I've come out to my mother 3 times and she forgets and acts shocked each time. I dont even know what to do anymore about it lol
@@arny625 I don't even know what gave it away for me. We were driving somewhere and she said that it was very obvious that I liked girls and that I may as well confirm it 💀
@@caroowns That's kinda sweet 😭
I literally just walked into the kitchen one day and said “I joined my schools gay club because women are hot.” And my mother just looked at me and went: “Eh. You’re too young, this’ll blow over.” Three years later I’m not even a girl anymore.💀
As a lesbian, I love Mac so much, you make me feel so real. Also, your right, we do indeed not want that ugly ankle dress
Me: cringing at how Target is obviously trying to profit of the LGBT community
Also me: wishing they sold bi and ace merch
FR
At my local target I saw a bi finger guns t shirt! Unfortunately I can't find any ace stuff
@@un.ava.ilable the eracesure U__U
They do! I guilty bought a zip wristlet with the ace flag on it from my local Target. (I also saw pan and enby ones at a glance.)
Why is the statement "ugly for a good cause" so accurate to any sort of charity/nonprofit partnership or pride collection?
9:17 I DIED WHEN I REALIZED 💀
He didn’t even mention the candles! There’s a spiced lavender called “butch please”
Okay, I maaaaaaaay need to buy this...
Uhm- yeah I need.
NO, THEY DID NOT
don’t forget the theydies and gentlethem. made me almost cry /neg
the name is hilarious though
Torrid's collection is fine but still much in vein with the generic so I still side eye em
@@Holy_Roomba just in general torrid had gone very disappointingly bland. Like if I wanted to shop Woman Within I would, I don't need Woman Within version Millenial.
@@frostfang1 hey, I will not stand for this Woman Within slander.
They may make clothing that screams "middle aged white mom," but at least their pants actually have good pockets and fit plus sized women lmao.
@@LilChuunosuke true. Still shop there. Just super disappointed with the selection compared to what it was or what it could be.
@@frostfang1 ngl I only buy their pants and nothing else LMAO.
Their shirts look like something my mom would wear to a family dinner, but their pants fit my big fat asscheeks more comfortably than any other brand I've tried lol.
omg i love the gay bags "drop it before the metal detector" reference from one of the reacting to anti-gay commercial videos! (pls tell me i'm not the only one who got that reference >_
as an average binder enjoyer I'd also like to point out that it's nice the binder doesn't have any rainbow colors and it's just you know, a subtle normal color that we transmascs usually wear (altho I would say to skip the target binder if you got other alternatives, the quality or the compression doesn't seem great just based on the picture)
TomboyX sells it as a "compression top" - I think it's supposed to be gentle binding not heavy duty.
@@TheDorkEvilOne Yep, explicitly binding for all the time use. You can even sleep in it.
@@fourthpanda ehhhhhh better to play it safe. I’ve heard too many horror stories of binding gone wrong, any garment that binds the chest should be worn with caution.
@@thedestroyasystem Idk about y'all, I'm transfem so obv won't ever need it, but personally I would just trust what they say on their site. They have done lots of testing. As long as y'all get the right size I would trust it not to be a problem.
@@thedestroyasystem Nah I wear one. It is basically a glorified sports bra tbh. Personally I wouldn't wear anything to bed but it would probably be safe.
I’m really glad you touched on the point about HOW they’re donating to these organizations. I’d be much more implored to buy from “supportive” corporations if they were more up front about how they’re donating!!
allegedly XD
I need the energy this guy has when I’m at school
Same
Im glad we got more accessible binders, even if the brand apparently has had some issues
Yea supposedly they hurt like a motherfucker.
yeah I secretly bought one last week and while it's probably not the best option out there it's so much safer and more comfortable than my homemade one so I'll take what I can get lmao
It's really nice to see how things have changed, even if in Canada we don't have targets and binders are still kinda hard to get around here, I'm glad others have binders accessible
What are the issues?
it makes me so happy to see them selling binders now. makes me hopeful that more trans people won’t have to experience shopping for a sports bra 2 sizes too tight that could end up causing rib damage later down the line.
It’s the only way I can get a binder so I’m excited about it
yeah my homemade one messed up my breathing for over a month so I'm really glad I dont have to use it anymore
i really hope the binders are actually safe and manufactured to not hurt you. unlike every single amazon binder ever (i know from experience)
I have the rainbow sandals from Target and they're so slippery and have tried killing me so many times I'm considering it a hate crime.
it’s so kind and thoughtful of these corporations to create bags that are clearly marked for us to put our gay in before any metal detectors… brings a tear to my eye 🥺
I wish target would’ve made a “disabled and queer” line, bc there are a lot of us out there actually (I’m Bi and disabled btw!) ✌🏻
I don't want target pandering to me TWO months in a row though, I'd DIE /hyp

The Phluid Project is genuinely good. God, I miss when they used to have a physical store. I used to travel there all the time. They always held queer oriented events, and you were genuinely safe as a queer person.
The binders are actually an amazing inclusion! As an afab non binary person who has top discomfort I want this so bad! I’ve resorted to tight bras because I’m not out yet and it makes me so happy to see it so accessible for the people who can get one and need one for dysphoria.

As a bi whether we're included in corporate June depends and seeing that we weren't included this year I don't know if I should feel relieved or offended.
Yup. And asexuals and intersex people
They actually had a bit of bi, ace, genderqueer, NB, and intersex stuff in the dollar section, but, like, as big wall flags, mini flags, pencil bags, and socks...not clothes
As apart of the bisexuals and genderfluids,we hardly get involved :(
Vincian flag never gets included in anything. And pretty much all of my other flags never get included other than trans, maybe nonbinary.

I really, REALLY hope they have a binder sizing chart online and in store, because an improper fitting binder sucks.
Too tight and you can have rib, lung, and chest damage. Too loose and you won't get any compression.
That's why I've been nervous about getting one. I'm not sure where I should get one, and if I do I don't know what a good size would be.
If your bust size matches a size but your shoulder width doesn't, don't size down to match your shoulder.
If you can buy online, I do recommend GC2B, and have heard good things about Underworks, but they are a little pricy with 30$ up per binder.
And, when you do get a binder, you should still be able to move and breathe. It should feel like you put on a shirt, not a boa constrictor.
It's not even pride month yet, and they're ALREADY like "HAPPY GAY TIME! Anyways...here's really bad designs that only suburban Moms will wear!"
2:02 *Mac does the happiest little gay dance*
It’s good that compression tops are being made more available to those who can’t easily order stuff online (no debit card, parents monitor purchases), but TomboyX has a history of mistreating their trans models, one of them they misgendered throughout the entirety of his photoshoot 🥴
That is so wildly ironic, like how do they have a brand widely used by trans ppl but are transphobic. They shouldnt be regardless of who they sell to but like.......come onnnnn
Big yikers of Target for teaming up with a company that did that
Spencer's has a whole pride thing going on already, too. I saw it on Saturday and that was the first time my mom has ever actually listened to me explaining all the different flags and meanings and everything. She kept coming up to me and asking if different ones were mine or if they had mine.
I literally only saw one of mine (omni) and it was on a skirt that wasn't in my size, but it was still nice. :)
The Spencer's where I live has pride merch all year round.
I did the same thing with my mom in a Spencer's!
@@tacobell1299 really? Wow. I don't visit very often, but every time i do they don't have anything pride related. My mom said everything was new. Idk though.
@@checkurs675 awe that's awesome :D I'm glad you got to experience that as well, it's a really great feeling
There is ONE quote I can think of that can sum up Target’s pride collection. “Putting up a rainbow logo once a year isn’t allyship, IT’S MARKETING.”
A brand that has had a really good pride collection is converse. The designs are honestly so nice and customizable and they babe new ones coming out for 2022. I highly recommend if you want some rainbow sneakers
Dollars wise, I still don't love spending money with Nike making their sneakers in Vietnam in a borderline sweatshop
But the custom pride platform sneakers I designed and ordered last year are relatively worth the price
Exactly! Everyone forgets about asexuals :(
have you happened across a spencer’s in your area?
Mfw I’m Demisexual which is an even smaller label that comes from Asexuality :(
8:02 they also said we cheap
i genuinely hate when large corporations try to profit off communities like LGBTQIA+ for pride month but, im glad they sold binders (specially since they're cheap), because not everyone has access to safe alternatives very often & bc not everyone can choose where they can buy that stuff due to their parents
small update i tried the target binder & it's pretty good ngl
Same. Only including binders and packers is kinda sus
baby steps
What kind of items for trans women are there? /gen ive heard of binders, but everything else is new to me :0
For one, tucking underwear.
As a trans man, we transmasc have a twisted version of privilege. We are generally forgotten in arguments, so we can fly by the radar easier. /g
Transfemme on the other hand, not so much. /sarc
Its less politcal to support us trans men and masc, than transfemme and women. (And dont even get started on nonbinary folk) you either support all of us, or none of us. You can't play favorites, darling. /g
There's some real subtle flag representation in this collection and we get an obnoxious dress that's just *BOOM! LESBIAN!*

I bought the shirt at 11:06. Honestly I really like it. They had a button down version of it if I remember correctly but in a different color.
the binder was by in large the best piece from any pride collection I've ever seen.

As much as we like to harp on the big corporations, it’s nice to see one that is at least trying to pay attention to the legitimate criticism and make some changes.
