Great advice. I have to secure beach huts for a living. Metal security bars across doors and large steel garage-bolts internally seem to be the best deterrent. Cameras, lights and signs help, too. But anyone with a disk cutter can get into anywhere. (edit. so all of you preppers out there buy a disk cutter!)
My first alarm system (I have 2 of these) roam around my house at night. They also will lick my face but they are very good notifying me someone or something is nearby.
Another great video! One word of warning about door camera systems though; Most, in the UK at least, are cloud based systems, (send your clips to the cloud then send them to the nominated phone/computer) so if the internet goes down so does your camera.
We have a set of those French doors that open out into back garden. Only one door handle for the two doors so locking them together isn’t an option. I’ve found myself surrounded by civil disturbance a few times. A riot, and some violent drunken uni students that liked to throw shovels and rocks at the window of the flat I lived in. I’m hoping that our neighborhood is enough out of the way that it wouldn’t be affected, but if it happens we intend to bugout if at all possible. Things can be replaced, people can’t.
Great video as usual... You could also have heavier duty locks, throw bolts into the floor and top of frame and hinges and bolts for the door frames into the wall and window openings. Strobe light's and smoke machine in my concealed porch, thinking of maybe water jets from a jet washer at face level for good measure along with alarm airhorn to a 12v battery... Good reference material - any of the home alone series😂 Most doors open into the house so in the event of emergency services needing to break in they can kick the door in... could always reverse that... If you watch how police etc use their big red key to gain entry the use angle grinders to cut the hinges off too and pneumatic jacks to bend the frame out of shape... so maybe a reinforced box section metal frame stuffed with rebar and resin?!

NICE THOUGHTS ONLY THE DOOR WITH THE 2X4 TO SECURE THE DOOR I HAVE ANGLE BRAKETS SIMULAR TO THE OLD OLD DAYS THAT YOU SLIDE IN PLACE. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO SCREW NOTHING. Then to the osb board a hatchet will chop right through that easy. 1" plywood is a lot stronger with a carriage BOLT TO SLIDE THROUGH THE OPEN WINDOW THAT GOES THROUGH A PRE DRILLED OUT 2X4 EXTENDING FROM ONE SIDE OF WINDOW FRAME TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WINDOE FRAME. ONE THE OUTSIDE HAVE A 1" WASHER WITH A LONG ROUND HEAD BOLT GOING THROUGH IT. iNSIDE SAME WAY 1" WASHER AND NUT SCREWED ON THE BOLT WITH A 2 ND NUT TO MAKE IT IMPOSSABLE TO UNSCREW FROM OUTSIDE. You will also need a year or more of food to survive. Stores to pharmacys will be looted and burnt. Food factories can be destroyed with many workers lives lost in a civil war. Who then will know how to run the machinery. YOUR IDEAS SOUND GOOD ON THE SURFACE BUT NOT LOGICAL WHEN UT TO THE TEST.
The video I think is for what simple and easy things anyone can do if they don’t half a yard full of building supplies on hand. Yes stronger thicker ply would be better and bolts and brackets galore would be great also having a home full supermarket supplies and enough medical supplies to full a small hospital would be great, not many people have access to such things. You could also hire a team of ex special forces to patrol your house 24 7 and lay land mines up the drive but again it could be classed by some as over the top.
I've got a barbed wire fence around my property, 4 rows high. The second and third row is hooked up to and extension cord, just plug it in and you stop them in their tracks 😮😮
Didn't know you were in the building trade... I wanted to be a builder when I grew up, and build house everywhere. Millions of the @***s. A bricky or a chippy...
Halligan bar and an axe, I'd soon be in. I once locked myself out when the Fire Brigade were in attendance, they offered to break back in with a Halligan but I said I knew a simpler way, and proceeded to cut a neat little hole in the door with my leatherman tool. There are essentially two kinds of burglars, those who haven't a clue and will smash their way in no matter what you do, and the clever kind who can pick locks and know the easy ways in.
