I, a random TH-camr female, am also having the same problem. And I'm not talking about that time I assumed my own gender based on a user avatar.

Female sounds more hardcore while male is more laid back. The female sounds (and looks) evil.
And I freaking love me some evil biatch. :D
Well, she is voiced by the same woman who voices Tavion Axmis, the main antagonist of Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy
The male version sounds so much better, can be angry along with being sarcastic really well. He really fits the role.

@@mishiara5499 I disagree there, while I prefer playing a female, the male smuggler fits the role better. I actually like the female voice better for the trooper, the imperial, jedi consular, and the Sith Inquisitor. the male voices are a better fit for the jedi knight, the bounty hunter, and the smuggler. The Sith Warrior I'd say both voices are pretty even there. that being said the female smuggler isn't bad or anything, but I do think the male fits it better.
@Lionard Kirsch ah I kinda like both honestly, but the reason I mentioned the agent is because the voice acting is pretty strong with both. but some of the other classes like the jedi consular for example, the female definitely has the stronger voice. the downside is I don't care for the female romance options compared to Nadia, and being that she doesn't go both ways, you have to be a male consular to romance her.

I honestly can’t decide which is better.
I think they are both equally good, but each has his/her own style or flavor. Some lines seem better coming from the female, some from the male. The girl does a better job being facetious, I think, her voice is a little more animated, while the guy seems to do better with the more serious and dark lines.

Female, hands down. Kath makes the smuggler sound like a real walking disaster person.
I played smuggler storyline around 7 times, and I never tire of it.

xLetalis I prefer the male voice actor, since he’s got more of a sarcasm n funny ring with it IE the perfect smuggler tone. while the female one could be any class.

I freaking loved my DS Female Scoundrel. I don't remember any of the story, I didn't particularly like the companions, and I still have no idea how to play the Scoundrel, but hats of to the bona fide badass she always appeared to be. Love her.
Thank you for taking the time to do this. Immensely enjoyable. I went female Cathar smuggler with 50s hairdo and now I know for sure it was the right choice for me by far. Loved that hint of Southern in Kathy's accent. They definitely told Maury "like Han Solo but not Han Solo, m'kay?" LOL
I do love how spunky the female smuggler sounds over the male one, and there are some scenes where she even sounds more sarcastic, like where they find the Imperial Commander with Skavak.
I like both equally but I'd go male for better romance options.
I actually love the Corso romance that the female smuggler has.
It's funny both have good and bad performances.

Female has more sass, more 'tude here. Love it.
The female smuggler sounds more intense with most of her deliveries but I love the range of smugness and sarcasm that the male smuggler brings to the table here. He's a bit quieter and that works marvelously when he's frustrated, where he enunciates his words with more emphasis, or when he's feeling confident, so relaxed or even playful depending on who he's talking to. I'd say the female smuggler comes across as more intimidating, again that intensity really drives certain interactions, but in the same situations the male might not be scaring anyone but when he says something bad's gonna happen to you it doesn't come across as a simple threat, it's stated like an undeniable fact.

Personally I love both of them, they both fit the persona very well. My first toon was a female smuggler, loved her, and just recently made a male one for the heck of it and absolutely fell in love with the story again. They both rock.
(In general, of the male VA's, the smuggler is the best sounding to me.)

I prefer the female smuggler, the voice lines are delivered more sharply and with appropriate feeling, sometimes the male smuggler lines fall flat. I'm somewhat biased though, Kath Soucie has voiced so many characters in video games and cartoons that I adore.

I like female, but everytime the male Smuggler talks, i hear Star-Lord from Guardians of the Galaxy and I can't unhear it.
Well I did play this before watching Guardians, and tbh - I don't think that's a bad thing ;]

It´s the best female voice out of all classes. Wish i could pick this voice for any of my classes

In any case, smuggler is probably the only class where smuggler's sex produces different and funny lines of dialogue time to time.
Male is literally Han Solo / Lando rip off. And playing it that way is fun. He also has more funny interactions with Risha when using flirt options on other npcs.
Female is, imo, funnier in general. You won't get much love affairs cause the options are usually atrocious or non existent. But hur voice is just loveable.

I like female voice better. The female is much more animated, the male voice doesn't. Both voices are good though. Also female voice has so many funny and entertaining lines that I love hearing and the sass is great. I mean the first thing you can say when you first reunite with Corso and Risha is, "You have no idea how happy I am to see you idiots." I loved it, it was amazing.
Well I can say only this: despite I like fem better, male is just authentic. Male just sounds like canon smuggler. Fem actress did. greater job at voice acting, but sorry. Even if Male voice actor didn’t didn’t use as much energy and spirit at voice acting as fem (she is much more alive in voice) male smuggler is just epic win by his voice already. He really fits this role naturally.
Liking the female for neutral/ sarcastic. Male does dark and menacing better sometimes.

The female voice actor makes the lines sound way too serious imo. I like the male va because it never sounds like he’s taking the situation seriously and reminds it me of star lord
You have to think of the role of a smuggler in most star wars lore.....The male voice actor just seems to be very laid back and carefree something you tend to see when dealing with a smuggler in star wars lore. I do notice the female smuggler puts a bit more emotion to her words.
Female has some better inflection in her voice I feel. Male is good though, this is a close one.
This is one of the few times that I really *don't* like one of the choices. I just don't feel like the female Smuggler's voice is... adventurous enough to be the bombastic smuggler that we're supposed to have a ride with. If it was not obvious from the statement, I much prefer the male Smuggler.
I like female purely because it's the same VA for Sally Acorn. SO many lines fit her!

for Smuggler I don't really prefer any, but I play male mostly for the romance options.
what do think of this idea? after a few more expansions,there is like a 10/20 years later or something and you can customize your character but as old. and lana,theron, everyone will be too.Then there will be a an expansion of your original class and it will reflect of your pass . also love your vids and your gameplay is extraordinary!

If you select the female character you can teleport. So smuggling gets a lot easier.
Male hands down, but female is funny cuz you can do scavik at the end and wound his pride by saying you had better XD
Maury Sterling is a TV actor best known as Max Piotrowski in Homeland....Kath Soucie is a voice actress known for rugrats, futurama and tons of other cartoons
The female voice is Kath Soucie, so I like her by default no matter what character she voices. But overall the male voice is perfect for the smuggler.
I think at the beginning, the female smuggler. But later on, during the new exp, the male smuggler won my heart with how the lives were delivered. I got 3 of them and played around with different choices during through the story (romance and personal choices), and I def like the male one better :)
Honestly, I love both of them. Also, do you have plans to do one for the republic trooper voices?
For me personally, I play maleSmug for the story while femSmug for just herself. I like her voice just a smidge more but that might just be because I chose her to be a snarky Twi'lek and that tends to be a hilarious combo, especially with her animated delivery. MaleSmug's laid back voice is a great reactionary voice to all the bs he has to deal with
It's tough to choose on this one. Although the way the male says the butcher is great

I'm very biased because I never played male characters that much, but I love the female raspy voice and some of her lines sound funny as hell. the male voice sonds more laid back and some lines were delivered better. I agree that she may sound more evil/reckless than male smuggler, and I noticed I tend to play as chaotic neutral as a female smuggler because it fits the voice
Both are great but having played through on both I prefer the female smuggler
I would have said male smuggler until his voice for whatever reason got drastically deeper somewhere around KOTET/KOTFE to the point he no longer sounded like himself. Since then even though it's still Maury Sterling voicing him and occasionally he sounds like he used pre KOTET to the rest of the time it sounds like an entirely different character and mentally that's always been something that I find hard to get over, female smuggler sounds exactly the same although it is sometimes hard to not hear Phil/Lil from the Rugrats :P .
Male VA for sure, his reads feel a lot more natural.
I only played the Male, and I love his wit, Nolan North as the Jedi Consular is by far my favourite character

If Phil and Lil DeVille found themselves stuck in a galaxy far far away the female smuggler is exactly who they would be, Kath Soucie is perfect for smuggler
Both have their own strengths, but I give it to the male, but I'm partially biased because my smuggler is male. His voice also reminds me of Chris Pratt.

Def prefer the dudes vo. The ladies I feel changes tone too much. Like sometimes it'll sound soft and smooth, then other times like she's been smoking for years.

what's the armor you have on your female Smuggler? it looks like one of those coats you get from a flash point late on but this is at the start of the game so can't be that. As for the actors, I like both, the female sounds a little more smooth.

Male sounds like a Ladies man and a Han Solo kind of guy. Female sounds like she is territorial and more impatient then male counter part and is fem version of a Ladies man a guys laidy idk what its called
