I did your save game ad it wasn't really that bad. The templates aren't the worst and I did it about a month faster than bittersteel with a more allied favored peace deal. The main problem was really just the mismanagement of your conscription and trade as explained in the video. That and the overabundance of troops compared to your equipment in storage. simply defending and doing small counterattacks to get back some vital industry combined with buying guns on the international market fixed the equipment deficit when I tried your save. Within two months I had your templates in a full 126 division army with no deficit. Your template isn't bad because the low combat width makes it so that your divisions can stack together in multuple terrains with few combat width overstacking debuffs. All that mounts to say is you had the germans on the ropes and only nneded to be patient and wait out the storm. And the germans shots themselves in the foot the instant they declare war on the soviets which diverts so many forces that you could easily defeat the germans while they are distracted. All in all, you did good, you just got a bit impatient and perhaps a bit nervous when you had to fall back
Imagine being the Germans. You’ve nearly conquered France and are now fighting for Paris but then suddenly the enemy becomes bloody Napoleon and managed to win
Not really unexpected, Germany's early war conquests is only thanks to the simulation of Allied high command's incompetence, so with a lengthened Battle of France combined with Bitt3rsteel taking over and the AI shooting itself in the foot with an Operation Barbarossa it's not ready for, they would quickly lose their steam and become open to large-scale counterattacks.
It's more actually - it reduces the -50% night penalty to -25%. This means instead of doing 50% damage at night, you do 75%. This is a 50% night attack buff, not 25%, and 16.7% overall, not 12.5%. Those are some insane numbers, that's why this doctrine is so good.
Île de France (Paris region) alone is basically like ~18% of France population wise, if you add all those northern cities, it's probably half of France.
The jump to Scraping the barrel is something OGs do, back from when mobilisation laws were all at 150 pp and the mobilisation was instant lol. Why waste the pp?
Reminds me of the old "Half a France" Disaster save from when the original player was holding down at the South. I don't think the situation is any better, but at least this player always had the Metropole to support them! (Is the Metropole actually any good industry wise?)
Honestly I’ve survived holding literally just the colonies, Brest, Bordeaux, and the Maginot line (minus Metz, they somehow took Metz). It was quite a painful game.
I have played hundreds of hours and I dont know how some of the mechanics work :D I had no idea for example that you need to do those concription in steps.
GBP is actually pretty nuts with France due to stacking with "protected by the Maginot" You do gotta spam "staff office plan" due to planning taking AGES but the bonuses are big and thicc.
About grand battle plan, it gives better stat whe you have the planning bonus at max than any other doctrine under any circumpstances, howevere the main draw back is that you need to have the planning at max to beat them all, so spamming reinforced hq on you breakthrough army is a must, as for GBP left or right the main argument is right remove half of the night penalty while left can get your planing bonus even further beyond, mathematically right have a better stat on average on the entire day due to less penalty at night, but left having more planing bonus make that bonus last longer so the breakthrough will go deeper in the enemmy line. In the end you cant really say that there is a mathematically best path for GBP, it depend on if you think you can break you enemy line before nightfall or if you think you want to break less of the line but be sure to break it even at night
For GBP, it depends. Going left unlocks overwhelming fire, which is a good counter, and I think overall better for div variety. Going right is great if you're poor and can only afford infantry, but have a good handle on planning, logistics, AA.
Just imagine when WW3 kicks in and france gets in this situation, but suddenly a strange man pulls up, freezes time, completely reorganizes the country and wins WW3
It's really incredible, I think I already know everything about the game and when I watch your video I realize that I still have a lot to learn, thank you very much for the tips, they really help a lot.
left is broken, i use to be a superior firepower supremacist but after i got 3k soft attack and 2k breakthrough on a 24 width mountaineer division, i have seen the light
Last night my game went something like this, I went the commintern path and fort up to hold up to 1941, but the axis decided to invade Swistzerland and punched through my front before I notice. I capitulated and holding Toulon with Soviet troops
About GBP definietly right side it gives so much entranchment bonus and planning so if you are hevaily focus inf and art units i think best doctrine in the game
I'm well out of date on this, but would it make sense to use dedicated divisions with support maintenance companies to crush pockets that you cut off from the main lines? If memory serves, maintenance companies provide equipment capture ratio and those cut-off and low supply divisions strike me as ripe candidates to easily steal some equipment from. Or am I misunderstanding what happens when a division is destroyed? Do you get their equipment anyways?
This game is not easy to learn, sometimes it's too much stuff to manage and you end up taking bad options, you don't know the important aspects of each part of the armed forces. But it's a learning process and at least he had some industry, he created a defensive line, he had a good number of guns, not so many casualties. I think he could have done this themselves just consolidating (making the units bigger and with a full bar of strength) and fixing his industry by demobilizing.
I will defend GBP as that boost to Naval Invasions is a game changer. But usually I got left in the tree for it. GBP I find works well for UK, Italy, and Japan as they need to invade so much.
This is actually somewhat historically accurate. General Charles de Gaulle considered to keep fighting for France either outside in London, or remain in France and move the remaining forces to Brittany. Here, France has even bigger bridgehead including the north.
I love how France is desperately making a last stand in the mainland while their allies are just fucking around in the UK and in the colonies. Truly historical.
This was my game!! Thanks for the tips and roasting me lmao, was well deserved

Another happy encirclement.
right in grand battle plan because of that +25% night attack bonus, basically a +12.5% flat attack modifier
yeah people tend to ignore the biggest benefit of GBP
Also as far as I remember the right path gives a bonus to the basic recon company so that it boosts the soft attack of infantry battalions as well.
left has insane battleplan bonuses that give u crazy stats, try it out if you havent (no idea if right has this lol i was just sayin)

Going as historical as possible. Has Laval and didn't capitulate.
