      @Jawan T I don't know about that. Every runner has their own "running weight" and it seems that Chris found his here. This was the race of his life, and it's hard to say that it could have been better.

      I was living right across the border in Germany and doing a study abroad when Webb broke that record. I had plans to go to that meet but opted to go to the bar with a buddy. I'll forever regret not going to witness that race. 😢

    The fact that he did around 12.5 for his last 100m is most respectable. As well being 6'1" and 161 lbs for a Sub-27 10K 0_0 Honestly, This is better than Galen Rupp's 26:44 10K and Mo Farah's 26:46 10K given that Solinsky has a 30 lb disadvantage over both of them. Long live the American King🇺🇸👑🤴

      That’s the same bmi as a 5’9 man weighing about 140, which seems very common for mid distance elites. Am I missing something ?

    • @kigen6400
      @kigen6400 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@macree01 Yeah. at 5'9" Mo Farah weighs 125-130 lbs (Which is common for elites of similar height).
      Galen weighs 134 lbs being 5'11". Meaning if Solinsky were 5'9" he'd still have over 10 lbs on Rupp.
      Plus, over 150 lb Distance runners even at 6'0" are rare. And if they do exist, they're not usually as exceptional as Chris Solinsky.

      @@kigen6400 Steve Prefontaine was 5’9 145 lbs. Alan Webb was 5’9 145 lbs. the first man to break sub 2:10 for the marathon was Derek Clayton who was 6 ft 1, 165 lbs. For every ectomorphic runner you list, I can list an equally impressive mesomorphic runner who was just as successful. Let’s also not forget Herb Lindsay, who was handing Bill Rodgers and Frank Shorters ass back to them on pretty much any race between 10-13 miles during the late 70s. 5’9 155 lbs. For a long time was also the only one to run under 47 mins in the Crim 10 miler.

    • @kigen6400

      @@macree01 Steve Pre was less than 140 lbs (according to Google). Derek Clayton was also less than 160 lbs (according to Google). Alan Webb was a Miler, so...that contributes to something since he runs less. Heck even Josh Kerr is 170 lbs and 3:48 Miler. Milers have to be excluded since running less than 4 minutes isn't as aerobic as 5K/10K runners and above. While Pre was good, he certainly would not break 27 like Solinsky did.

    Interesting how most of the comments love the commentary. I'm assuming it's a US cultural thing. I found it obnoxious, as constantly shouting over one another is a no-no, and if I want to experience that type of cacophony, I watch with my mates or go to a sports bar.
