Controversial Thoughts: Coffee doesn't love you back either and it might worsen your fibromyalgia!

  • The most controversial opinion of them all: Coffee doesn't love you back!
Check out this week's installment of Controversial Thoughts in which I offer my ideas about whether you should include coffee in your animal-based diet.
Ok, let's admit that's a fantasy. Most of you are just going to respond in the comments that you'll never give up coffee and that I must hate babies or your puppy to suggest such a ludicrous thing, but you won't watch the video. Suit yourself. You asked for a video on why you might not want to drink that cup of coffee and I did it.
Don't worry, I still love you all even if you keep drinking your coffee! I do think you'll be better off without it, however. At least get some organs into your diet, and eliminate the most toxic plants, and for the love of god cut out those seed oils!
It's not too late to join us for the #AnimalBased30 day reset to get your January and 2021 on track! www.AnimalBased30.com. Looks like the year might just be another wild ride. Buckle up and eat your organs!
Check us out at heartandsoil.co to get more nose to tail nutrition in your life!

I gave up a lot of addictions. I kept caffeine around the longest. But it wasn't because it's the hardest habit to kick. I can quit it without any side effects. It's more a psychological addiction maybe. That is different with sugar which, to my mind, is one of the most addictive drugs around.

Thanks Paul , this info is priceless. I quit coffee like 2 years ago because of anxiety. I felt amazing. I lost my stubborn belly . I have no idea why I started drinking it again . Would always feel like crap . I quit again and feel better just after two days . I told my doctor I quit coffee and told me I was crazy . Our health system is a scam . They are hindering our true potential from birth . Every system we have in place is designed to keep us fat , stupid and lazy . Why the fuck is this the way we operate. Just sad . Makes me sad .

I ha e scoured the web trying to find an excuse to still drink it and adhere to the Carnivore lifestyle. Alas, the community is too strong and honest so I guess I will have to abstain. It's like losing a friend for me.

Your right about everything! While I was caring for my Wife in the end of her Ovarian Cancer I had to be up to care for her and started drinking coffee. I originally went on Keto/ carnivore to try to save her- the Warburg effect and all.Her Oncologist never heard of the Warburg effect and told my Wife to drink shakes and I called him Megeli,
Then my Wife died and I switched to green tea and within one week had B1 deficiency syndrome!! Figured that out 1 hour before my Doctor and tests confirmed it. Took some brewers yeast and B complex and headache went away overnight. The pain in my entire body went away a few days after that.
I also have had Degenerative Disc Disease for 35 years and need more oxycodone during the caffeinated period! Never touch the stuff anymore.Being in ketosis is like a cocaine feeling without the side effects!

I gave up coffee as an experiment at the beginning of January, for World Carnivore Month. Though the initial week was rough, I don't miss it. I also don't miss the digestive stress nor the anxiety nor jittery feeling when I wanted some and couldn't get any. It really felt like kicking a drug addiction. One pleasant side effect I've noticed (and I'm not sure whether it comes purely from kicking coffee, or from going carnivore) is that I have zero body odor. I've stopped using antiperspirant. I think that up until the eighties people were drinking coffee in reasonable amounts. Then coffee underwent the same thing that happened to all foods and drinks in America, and got super-sized. This is exactly the thing I needed. I’ve decided to give up coffee which feels weird because I only started drinking it a few years ago. Stupid bulletproof coffee. I’m 48 and have always hated coffee. Stupid Dave Asprey. I didn’t even like cappuccino because it just tasted like coffee to me. I just ordered decaf with the intent of weening myself off of this crap. I wake up in the morning and coffee is the first thing I think about. I hate that feeling of something controlling me. So no more coffee for me. I’m going to replace it with a blended bone broth drink in the morning.

Regarding the estrogenic effects, this article is an interesting balanced view:
      naturalife.org/natural-remedies/rooibos-tea-benefitsu
"Despite the rumors that are floating around, there’s very little evidence that it has an estrogenic effect.
There’s only one study from 2006 that found some compounds in rooibos tea to have estrogenic activity. But this was tested in a test tube using an estrogen ELISA assay. So there’s no way of telling whether it has an estrogenic effect in the body".

Somehow I got back on it after traveling and exploring new coffee shops. Now my chronic pain has come back and it’s been difficult to manage it again and you’re making me realize it’s probably because of the coffee! I’m definitely going to get off coffee after watching this video and hopefully I can talk my mother (who also has a chronic pain condition) into doing it with me. Side note you could probably write an entire book on the subject which would be quite controversial but I think necessary for the health of so many people. And the dose is another question: a toxic level to human need to be established. Animal model experiments usually use impractical doses when it is converted to human doses, not to mention that animal models sometimes show contradictory results to human experiments. Just like many "plant toxins" used by plants as pesticides may be toxic or lethal to bugs, but may be negligible in terms of dose to (at least part of) humans.

Weak thesis... I drink decaf... no addiction there. No crutch.

When I stopped drinking coffee, my muscle cramps from magnesium deficiency went away. Coffee depletes magnesium in the body which is the main reason I stopped drinking it. I also have oxalate toxicity and magnesium helps with oxalate dumping symptoms. The other reasons to not be a coffee drinker are good too.

Just made coffee and remembered this talk. Got the courage to listen it.

I had to quit coffee to understand how crappy it actually made me feel, I still drink it sometimes on weekends. But it just makes me feel awful nowadays. I have been drinking a lot of coffee daily for +10 years, and it was tough thing to get rid of, but definitely worth it. 2 weeks of headache wasn't that much fun tho :D
