Seth is right. A lot of people seem to have kids as like a crazy science experiment -- like something they can do to preoccupy their time with. They are also always complaining about them. They literally complain about the things they have to do because they chose to be parents. Make it make sense.

So true. I feel like that's a pattern of behavior. There's people that openly complain about their spouses. Then why get married? I'm happily married and expecting my 1st kid. We planned pur pregnancy and though life is far from perfect, excited to bring a little one into the world that's a mix of hopefully both of us.

I was on the child-free path for a very long time before deciding to have one child. It's something I took very seriously and I knew it wasn't what people pretend it is on social media. It still ended up being something we wanted and the cliche was true for us. It has been our most challenging and fulfilling endeavor but I'm forever protective of my child-free friends. Some by choice and some sadly not.
And what Seth says is right. It's not that fun. It's not supposed to be and anyone acting like it's bliss is lying. It's high highs and low lows all day long. What do I care if someone I don't even know has kids or not?

I actually think it's great that we're coming to a point where kids feel more optional in many cultures. There are a lot of people out there who shouldn't be parents, and a lot of kids who aren't given the love they need because their parents are indifferent or even hostile towards them. To me it's far less selfish for someone who knows parenthood isn't for them to opt out than it is to have kids they resent.

I literally got called a sociopath the other day because I comment on a fb post that was shaming kidfree people and said "I will never have kids cos I could never feel love for a child". It doesn't make me a sociopath. It makes me responsible, because I'm not putting a child through that. I'm not trying ro demeen or insult both you and your character because free will should be cherished. It's honorable you are considerate to not make the child feel devoid and trust me the research I did on homo sapiens well your result would not end well on that hypothetical descendant of yours hands.so indeed you made the right call for you and the kid that will never be born for wise reasona.

Totally agree with you, I am also not a sociopath, but I do hate children, I don't see the point to them, or our species. I believe 'infants' are adorable or 'sound' cute due to our genetics...but there is nothing really special about them, or human either...they definitely don't wake any compassion from me in any form or fashion as well. I felt a peculiar 'pull' (which might have been due to mere 'instinct') for the 'creation' of a male counter-part at the precise age-range between 34-37, which I believe may just have simply been my own 'the-clock-is-ticking', or what is referred to as 'baby-fever' of the mid-to-late 30s (some men have been known to get this from time to time-specially if they are to become fathers for the first time). Now that I am 41, and about to be 42 in about a few more months...I am VERY selfish with my 'me-time'...and the 'baby-fever' of the mid-to-late 30s is nowhere to be felt again, interesting how nature believes we are all that 'common'!

The societal template of being a married adult and therefore having kids for a fulfilling life is one of the greatest falsehoods.
Many find joy of course but
Seth is right - so many parents miss their freedoms, autonomy and life on their terms. Middle age is the key time when their mortality and the ‘you get one life’ dawns on them.

So yup bitterness is right, I would say the big perk is you have a heir so your possessions, property, assets an legacy won't be reaped back by the state where they would put bac into the system

Thank you Seth!! I am childless by choice and I love it!! I have a niece and I also did daycare for over 20 years. My brother thought having a kid would make life better but he is still miserable. His fomo or feeling like he needed a purpose just caused more stress. Now there’s a child in the mix. I love my niece. I watch her and play with her. My mother and I go out of our way to give her tons of attention and love. I feel bad for her because she doesn’t get the attention she should at 2 from her parents. She was not even a month old and her mom wanted weekends away from her. But I have no regrets on no kids. I don’t feel fomo. I am happier without them. And when I’m old I’ll still be good!!! 😊. I have my me time whenever and I don’t have to worry about kids. It’s so freeing especially as a woman. It’s selfish to have kids and then use them as accessories like my horrible brother and his wife.

I just want a straight answer, I have plenty of them. There are economic and time constrains that make me don't want to have them... then they ask me what if you regret not having kids? Well, there are a lot of homeless kids out there brought to this world by parents that never asked them selves... can I have them??? before asking, or not even "Do I want them?"

@@albertosotelo9969 so true most human adults don't have the quadrilogy at helm especially when they bort kids out of wedlock- in most cases it (the baby) was unwanted- I was an unwanted kid yet stepdad adopted me and reunited me with my long lost father (she stole me away after divorce as baby- with proof) also when they birth via no wedlock and agreence on the child's behalf it causes this and Seth can sense it. These parents seem to b jealous at seth and his wife's freedom and childfree life I feel and think sad that he doesn't have an heir yet he does not from him but he and his wife are cool uncle and aunt and will pass down their legacy to them too. Hey that's why I like seth rogen funny and both brutally yet respectfully honest on his life and decisions. These parents and hostess has contempt due to them going against society's "norm" and not being one of them despite they have the money for kids. In short each of these parents on this show seemed to lack one or many or hell all 4 of the quadrilogy for not only a mother and father but for their own children more tha likely. You and your wife seem to have nearly all 4 or 3 already plus these adults should respect and support people's free will! My Chef Master who is Michelin trained is childfree due to her career and wha she's thriving and is one cool and awesome aunt to her nephew, who's a prodigy chef kid. I can see not just only through Seth's and his wife, you and yours and my master but personally at the moment I can see how beneficial constructively why being childfree right now is effective and pragmatic and considerate not just for me but many. I bet you both are a awesome uncle and aunt couple

I dislike growing up and one of the reasons is that everyone starts having children. And everyone starts thinking about it constantly, and especially TALKING about it constantly. I could not care less about how many times your kid takes a shit or eats, about the fact thay you do not sleep at all, and many more things. I can listen to you for a while, and give you support, but after a certain age (and mind you, im "only" almost 27 yo) they always think and talk about that and I find it super annoying.
I cannot even remotely fathom the idea of coming back from work (which is already so much time taken away from all the things I would love to learn and study in life) at 6 PM and having to take care of a human.
I already work, study on the side, take care of myself and my shared flat, take care and cherish my friends and my family (even if I live abroad so family is far), plan many more things for my future. I have lived in 5 countries and 3 continents, I speak 4 languages, I met people from all around the world and I plan to keep moving around, living in different places as that is FOR ME the only reason I live, and the only source of happiness. I am curious, I wanna learn other people's language, I wanna learn about how they communicate, I wanna learn about their culture, I wanna keep making new friends and meeting all sorts of people.
People who really think you can do this with children are delusional. You absolutely cannot, if you did you'd be a shitty parent.
The same way those parents (not all of them, thank god) judge us for not wanting children, the same way they insinuate we will "regret" it later, I could tell them thay they will regret living the same life every day, all over again, same routine, same place, same people, same habits. But i wont tell them, cause that's probably what makes them happy (hopefully for them hahah). And what makes them happy is not more important or valid than what makes ME happy.

I think it’s great to get that kind of public validation from somebody who has kids, so good job Kelly Clarkson! It is OK not to have kids! Even though I do want kids, there was a good time I was, considering not having them, and that would have been OK if I had stayed in that lane. It’s a stressful life being a parent, if you would rather use that energy doing other things than that is OK. This is not the beginning of planet earth where the Bible said you need to spread your seed and multiply or whatever, we have like 1 billion people in the world, nobody should pressure anybody. because when you make that decision, and you regret it, there’s no going back and waving him magic wand to get rid of your kids. You need to be sure that that life is some thing that you love in spite of its hard shifts, just like the career you choose. Not here come the people who are going to throw a fit then I compared You need to be sure that that life is some thing that you love in spite of it’s hard shifts, just like the career you choose. Now here comes the people who are going to throw a fit that I compared to having kids to having a career…, but you know what, it’s a similar situation, because when you choose you have to stick with it, and you have to do it every day for decades of your life.
