  • Reseda Centennial 1912 - 2012
Reseda, one of the original valley suburbs, will be celebrating its 100th year throughout 2012, planning and participating in events and revelries culminating in a gala outdoor music festival in September. Reseda, the hub of the valley, was an original Red Car stop on the Pacific Electric line, and is host to the Los Angeles River, ground-zero of the Northridge Earthquake, and the home of the Karate Kid.
Reseda was once the heart of a diverse and vibrant music scene, with acts such as U2, Tom Petty, James Brown, No Doubt, Zoogz Rift, Los Lobos, Lucinda Williams, and Jane's Addiction performing at such locations as The Country Club and BeBop Records. The Reseda Centennial Music Festival seeks to recreate the heyday of the Reseda music scene as well as celebrate the diversity of its community with a wide variety of cultural performers.

Moved to Reseda in 82 at eleven years old from Pasadena. Still live there today.
Lots of changes...Miss Sherman Square, the skate park on Vanowen & Reseda and the Country Club.
Saw the artwork that's out front but Las Fuentes should have gotten more love.
    Best food in Reseda.
Unfortunately, Athenian Grill & the Army/Navy Surplus store went unrecognized. Too bad.
Both are institutions in my book.
    REOPEN the RESEDA THEATRE!!

I wish the photos lasted longer. I lived right next door in Encino snd the neighborhoods overlap as far as places we went. Moved there from Minnesota in 1952… the valley was a great place to grow up back then; very safe. We didn’t even lock our doors. Movie stars lived all around and we would ride our bikes to their houses and up the long driveway of Roy Rogers ranch. Western stars often brought their horses to our schools snd would put on shows with them. Good times.

I grew up in Reseda. Moved there in 1955. I was the drummer for The Electric Prunes. Sometimes, we rehearsed at my house in Reseda on Leadwell St. Graduated from Reseda High School in '67. Was in the marching band too.

Had no idea you guys were so close. I loved the song “I had too much to dream”. Years later I met and worked with Annette Tucker who wrote that song. I went to Cleveland High, class of 70.

I moved with my parents as a toddler to Reseda in 1949 or 1950. Went to Shirley Avenue Elementary School, Sequoia Junior High school and went to Reseda High from January 64 until February 67. Loved the rural Reseda of the 50s where there was Dairies and cows, dirt roads to Canoga Park, plenty of open spaces and even an old tile factory down the street and dozens of open land all around to play in with lots of other kids! I remember before Reseda High was built and the older kids went to Birmingham High. Before that Birmingham was an Army hospital where my Grandfather passed away. I remember playing in the “Wash “ where I use to play and catch polywogs 😂. Not the same anymore!

Reseda HS Class of W'61. Does anyone remember these Reseda businesses from the '50s and 60's: The Donut Hut, Reseda House of Music, Santana's Mexican Food, Millman's Department Store, Tang Hall?

I remember going to Tang Hall with my mom and dad in the 50s and 60s . They 😊 Had great Chinese food! I remember Millmans’ Department store where I got my clothes with my Mom! I remember going to the Reseda Drive in as well before the Reseda walk in theater and seeing the “The Great Escape “!

I have been watching this, and Truxillo’s other videos for years. I lived there in 1984, and I mostly know Sherman Way. I didn’t seek much of the side streets. What is that rock song with the lyrics “we are all going to Reseda”? Is it Frank Zappa?
