That blue striped tee shirt is lovely! Such pretty shades of blue. Love it! It's so interesting seeing all the different crafts you do. You are a gal of many talents. Happy sewing!🥰
Thank you Theresa, I read your comment then looked down at myself and realised I was wearing the Blue T shirt 🤣. I love having a go at different crafts especially if it involves a needle but I wouldn't say I am good at them! Thanks for your kindness 😊🧵
Gorgeous fabric, Carole! Those colors look fab on you! Great job with the Sashiko! So fun! The T-Shirt is very nice, also! Have a wonderful vacation! Can’t wait to hear all about it, and, am looking forward to the collab with Agata and Tiffany! 😘💗
Thanks Andra, I can't believe I actually didn't buy much blue fabric this time! The Sashiko was great fun to do and a real calming project if you know what I mean. Thanks for watching and enjoy your snow if you still have some! xx💞xx
Thanks Trish!! I am indeed very crafty...in more ways that one 😄. I will pass on the photo comment to Chris, he will be very pleased. He really needs a holiday after his week believe me! I'm just going along for the ride ha ha. Hope all is well with you my lovely friend 💖🥰😘
Thanks Robyn, I think it is more like I get distracted by something new every day! 😆 I will do more patches when I get home I think otherwise I will have to take the jeans with me. Hope you have a great weekend and thanks for watching 😊🧵
Beautiful new fabrics! The sashiko patch is so fun. I agree - a patch on the other leg would make it super interesting. Love your new Concord!! Wow - the Easter card is gorgeous! Have a good trip next week! Xx 💞
Thanks Izzy, I was so excited to get some actually NEW fabric for a change. Those jeans certainly need more patches and I will enjoy doing that with different designs. The Concord won for me again, thank you for that! Hope you have a fun Birthday weekend with Marianne 💞😊🧵
Hi Carole. What a wonderful video from you. The fabrics are gorgeous. I really love the Sashiko! My grandmother used to mend jeans with a visible mending technique. I’m certain she never heard of Sashiko but, it looked very similar. What a beautiful place your husband visited. And the canvas of your sweet dog is wonderful. Have a wonderful vacation… looking forward to the pictures. ❤ Diann
Hi Diann 🍓Thanks so much for all your lovely words and kindness. That is so interesting about your Grandmother and her way of mending. Clearly that is something I need to research as it can't only be the Japanese! They do have the idea though that repaired clothes become treasured and more special the more they are repaired. Chris did enjoy his time in India but glad to have him home! Thanks so much for watching and hope your weather warms up soon for you all. xx🍓💞
Love your fabrics and the Cashmerette Concord tee. The Sashiko visible mending looks interesting. I just might have to try it. The cards?--so so pretty. I absolutely love the canvas of Mickey. He is such a pretty "old" man. Look forward to seeing the collab with Tiffany and Agata. THank you so much for sharing. Enjoy your holiday.
Thanks so much for all your lovely words, especially about Mickey! I was so excited to be asked to collab with Agata and Tiffany so can't wait to show what we chose. Have a good weekend 😄🧵
So nice to see your new crafts. I love Sashiko. Your new fabrics are beautiful! I can't wait to see what you make with them. I have been stuck in my house for a week. We had a crazy snow storm (totally not normal for East Tennessee) and all I want to sew is sweaters and other winter garments to keep me warm. After this I may have to go somewhere warm. 🙂 Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful vacation.
I did hear about your snow from Andra actually! How crazy and I hear also that you are going back to mild temps? We have had a similar thing over here, so so cold everyday here with endless icy conditions then on Sunday and next week it is going to be warm, wind and rain! That goodness we are escaping that for a week 😆. I know what you mean about sewing sweaters and it was really strange making that T shirt in January! Thanks for watching and enjoy your weekend 😄🧵
Love the patch and will be so cute with your circles. When the time comes ND mending is no longer an option, consider deconstruction and make a pattern from them. I love the canvas you had done, ❤. Thank you for sharing the India pictures- wow the hotel is beautiful. Have a wonderful trip next week.
Thanks so much for your comment. You are right about taking a pattern from those jeans as I have done that sort of thing before. As we all know though, jeans soften and wear in and that will take years to get them back to that state! I am excited to do more patches to even up the jeans and have been looking at loads of pictures. Have a good weekend and thanks again 😄🧵
Love, love, love your fabrics! Especially that last cherry one! And the Sashiko . . . never heard of this before, but it's lovely! Now . . . back to finishing up my t-shirt so I can make my Friday Sews video . . . 🧵jacque🧵
Thanks Jacque, so I found another craft this week that I could get addicted to 😆. You see, this is why I don't have plans and goals! I am looking forward to sewing up my new fabric when I get home. Hope you have by now finished the T shirt!! Have a good weekend 😊🧵
Hi Carole, Wow I never heard that Cherry Red was the color of the year. I heard it was Peach! So happy you were able to save your favorite jeans. I have a pair that I love too. I've never done Sashiko. I know that BabyLock has a Sashiko machine! Imagine that. Your t-shirt looks perfect to me.🥰 I love your canvas of your pup!🐕 Beautiful! Have a wonderful sewing weekend! 🪡🪡♥♥
Thanks so much for stopping by Grace. I need to look up that Babylock now, everything gets automated now doesn't it 😂. It was a Paris fashion show I read about where polka dot and cherry red was the colour, could be different in Europe 😉❤️. No sewing for me this weekend as we are off on holiday tomorrow but I have given my room a good tidy! Have a great week ahead 😘🧵❤️
You sound very busy and very creative! The Sashiko mending is fascinating. I do remember the nail art, and your cards are lovely! I'm very much looking forward to your collaborations and hope you have a great holiday!
Thanks Lara, I always seem to keep busy plus I keep being distracted with new things! I've just sat on a 4 hour plane journey sewing cards all the way and I loved it! Have a great week and thanks for watching 🧵😊
I bought a book on Sashiko mending on my Thanksgiving holiday. I have to get some thread and give it a go. I set aside 2 pairs of jeans to try it and my neighbour donated some beyond repair jeans to cut up for patches. One more new skill to learn this year. Yours looks fantastic especially for a first go. Simple designs can have the biggest impact. ❤
Oh wow that is wonderful Nancy, I bet there are so many wonderful designs in that book. I need more patches for certain and am going to raid my husbands jean collection for scraps as they need to be various colours really. Good luck with yours! Have a good weekend 😄🧵
Have a nice trip this week. Your fabric haul was lovely and I really like the one with the cream background that you wish was white. The sashiko mending is interesting; cool idea. The embroidered cards are pretty; I might try that one.
Thanks Pamela, I am hoping the weather will be warmer than it has been this week 😄. I do like the fabric with cream background, I only hesitate as cream generally doesn't look good on me being a 'Winter' Thanks so much for your lovely comments 😄🧵
Love your new fabric especially the first one you showed from Germany. Just wanted to let you know that the group I started with your idea of picking fabrics and patterns was successful. Some did theirs a little different on how they picked and it was fun seeing how everyone was doing it. THanks for such a fun idea.
Hi Diane, I am so pleased to hear you had success with the fabric/pattern picking at your group. I know I thoroughly enjoy the challenge as we all tend just to pick the safe options don't we! Let me know if you try it with them again. Thanks for watching as ever, I really value your loyalty. 😄🧵
Thanks to your guest photographer for sharing his trip. I’m a bit resistant to the concept of visible mending, because my mom’s mending on my kid clothes was always visible and I thought it was embarrassing. 😂🤣😅 I really like your patch, though, and I’m all for saving favorite jeans. Enjoy your trip! 😊 -Deborah
Hi Deborah, I will pass on your thanks to Chris for his photos. I really didn't go outside much at all this week for photos 😄. I completely understand why patches that scream out 'repaired' may not be your thing or many others to be honest. For me though, it isn't as if I will wear them anywhere other than the School run or Supermarket! They do need more though to balance it out so hopefully I can make some up on my trip. Have a great weekend and week ahead. 😄🧵
Your new fabrics are so pretty! Loved your sashiko - I took a fun class at the sewing expo but haven't picked it back up again. You've inspired me to work on it again. Have a great weekend Carole!
Hi Michelle, I remember that class you took, is that the one you made the 'dress form' sort of collage? That was so awesome, hope you do get to finish it. Thanks for stopping by xxx😘
@@socarole66hope you have a great holiday. It’s getting all wet and windy here now 😢. Thanks for all the content you put out. It’s much appreciated. ☺️
Hi, Carole, your fabric is beautiful, you will have many beautiful garments when you’re done. I love the visible mending, I do that sometimes on my own clothes, but my husband refuses to let me mend his clothes that way, lol, wonder why? How about that Viv? She’s so funny, I just love her. She’s so skinny now. Your T-shirt is lovely, I love that fabric. Your cards are beautiful, that Easter egg will be a great keepsake for your mom, if you choose her. It’s lovely, but so labor intensive. Love the pictures of India, I’m amazed at the diverse culture there. Beautiful palace on the inside. Take care, have a great weekend, 😊
Thank you Sue, I will have a lot of lovely fabric to work with the next couple of months won't I. That is so funny your hubby won't let you mend his clothes like that but I doubt Chris would either, his face when he saw my patch 😆. Chris is so lucky to have experienced a little of India, it is somewhere I am not brave enough to travel too so I love seeing his photos. I need to get that Easter Card finished so I can move on, sooo many teeny tiny beads! Thanks as ever for watching and enjoy your weekend too 😊🧵
Good Morning Carole. I did embroidered cards many years ago. Such enjoyable stitching. Although a beaded card is very labour intensive, I really liked the addition of a bead here and there. For instance in the center of the flower. At Christmas we often put beads on the points of a star or in the center of a design on an ornament. Happy stitching! Enjoy your holiday! Cheryl 🇨🇦
Hi Cheryl, how wonderful you did some cards before and yes, I have learnt that a fully beaded card is way too much! I think I enjoyed seeing the threads better to be honest when creating the cards so will stick to that. The odd bead sounds great as you described. Thanks so much for your comments on that and for watching as always 😄🧵
I think the Easter card should be for your mum as she introduced you to the new craft. I bought the bunny to make a card for my daughter-in-law’s birthday.
You could be right Andrea! I think I will pass it onto my parents as they will really appreciate it. I am so pleased to hear you have one, let me know how you get on. Enjoy your weekend 😄🧵
Love the sashiko! I’m all for visable handwork, I have something I will send you to use for that, I also have some sashiko Balmain needles I will send you a couple too, they have a specific eye shape for ease of use xx
Thanks Adam, it is another thing you could do when you are away from your machines at Exhibitions 😆. Looking forward to seeing what those proper needles look like, thanks so much 😄🧵xx
Lovely vlog Carole, what a privilege to receive one of your beautiful stitch cards. Hope you have a relaxing and enjoyable holiday. Looking fwd to collaboration with Agata. ❤😊
Hello, Carole! So many amazing things happening in your sewing room this week, so much fun to hear about them all. I’m so intrigued by the Sashiko, it looks so beautiful! Hope you all have a wonderful Holiday, I’m so looking forward to our Collab, thank you for the shoutout and kind words🥰 Happy Sewing ❤~Tiffany
Hi Tiffany, thanks so much for popping by. That sashiko was so wonderful to do and there are so many designs to try...when I have time 😄. I can't wait for our collab either now I have finished the 'items'! Hope you have a better sewing week this week, sending hugs xx😘
So glad to hear that you found your button-hole foot. Isn't that something how hidden away it was? Enjoy your week away! Hope you have good weather there.
Oh Deb, what a fool I felt...yet again!!! I swear they hide things to trick us. At least I didn't embarrass myself by asking Adam again. Your weather has been chilly hasn't it, I was looking at your temperatures today but hopefully back to normal again for you next week. I must admit I am looking forward to some slightly warmer weather, it won't be hot just in the early 20s (c) so that will be just perfect. Hope all is well with you xxx
I am one who is guilty of not reading the owner's manual FIRST before trying to work whatever it is. I try to work it first on my own and then if (really - when) I run in to a problem, I consult the manual. Anyway, You found your part and all is well. The weather this week-end has turned SO COLD!! We had a sunny day today but by early afternoon the temperature started to drop. We will have near freezing temps overnight and another cold day tomorrow. We will definitely be hibernating tomorrow!
Oh how precious that mickey photo is, and it looks good on the canvas💓🐾The fabrics are so pretty and that tee shirt will go great with those patched jeans! The sashiko came out awesome, you have peaked my interest in yet another craft....🤣I can't wait to see the collab!! Have a fun trip! 🥰-Mary
Hi Mary, oh I am glad you think the Mickey photo came out ok on the canvas. He just has the wistful look doesn't he! You are right re the tee shirt and the jeans, I hadn't thought of that. I know what you mean about yet another craft as I had literally only just got my head around the cards, what am I doing to myself😄. Have a great weekend 😄🧵x
I have a new sewing machine and was going to use that one set up for embroidery only, then another machine for regular sewing. When I spoke to my dealer about what I was doing, he told me that it was important to use both capabilities of the machine and not just one. Different parts are used apparently. So he said this was very important to the sewing machines.
Hi there. Thank you so much for your comment and that is a really good point about the machine. I will definitely bear that in mind. I have in the past set it up with a topstitching thread when I am making something like jeans when it needs a different colour every now and again to save altering the thread on my machine. Also my daughter uses it when she sews at my house so fingers crossed this will be enough to keep everything working well. 🧵😊
I love Sashiko too. I’ve not used it for mending yet but doing coasters and bags. I’ve brought a kit to do on the plane, but a bit worried they might take the needle away as it’s quite long. So I’ll take the stitching cards too. I’m currently finishing off a birthday card and matching book marker as a gift.
Thanks so much for your comment Susan and what an interesting thought about using it for other things rather than mending, I think I have seen it on jackets and bags now you mention it. I have never had an issue with taking needles on planes but I just use an embroidery needle whatever I do and I take baby scissors. I am busy punching out cards today ready to take with me! The Sashiko I think I will wait to do when I get back. Have a safe trip 😊🧵
@@socarole66 I’ve purchased 10 card patterns and I expect more will follow. I’ve lost one needle in the sofa already 😂 it was even attached to a needle minder. I tried unpicking a garment in the car yesterday and felt sick, I was hoping I could do something in the car but it’s not for me.
@@susanjenningsjones oh no Susan! I hope you come across that lost needle before anyone else does! Glad to hear you are having fun with it. I did it for the whole flight of 4 hours yesterday and loved it. Far easier on a steady plane rather than a car journey though. I did a nice bookmark for my Grandson and a lovely geometric design. Thanks so much for telling me of your card adventures 🥰
Thanks so much! I did joke to Chris about maybe popping to a fabric shop whilst he was there but no luck, he brought me home nuts instead 😄😄. Have a good weekend 😄🧵
Please can you tell me where you got the beautiful fabric you used for your Cashmerette tee shirt. I absolutely love it. The tee looks really lovely. Thanks xxx
Hi there, I think I bought the fabric from 1st for Fabrics and I have just checked their website. They do have some left but not the same colourway. It was also in a Beyond The Pink door subscription box in the Summer I think. Hope that helps and thanks for your comment 😄🧵
That patch was actually stitched onto the jeans to secure the weak fabric by hand, it is all hand sewn with that craft. I have noticed that some patches are decorated and sewn on after which would be good if it was just for decoration. It has made a really secure mend! 😄🧵
I love that beaded card. Like you say, for someone very special.
Happy travels Carole. Enjoy wearing that lovely tee shirt.

Lovely vlog Carole, what a privilege to receive one of your beautiful stitch cards. Hope you have a relaxing and enjoyable holiday. Looking fwd to collaboration with Agata. ❤😊
Thank you Marian, I do hope to do a few more cards on my trip. Have a good week and thanks for stopping by 😄🧵
Hello, Carole!
Hi Carol, watch Sarah Homphray, she is excellent with slow stitch otherwise sashimi ❤
Thank you so much for that recommendation Anne, I will note down her channel. Thanks for watching 😄🧵
Carole! The top you are wearing is stunning and suits you really well 🥰 Is your husband bringing you fabric from India ? Bernadette
Thanks so much, I will definitely be ordering some. Xxx
Is your denim patch hand stitched onto your jeans with the sashiko stitches around the edge, or machine stitched?
That patch was actually stitched onto the jeans to secure the weak fabric by hand, it is all hand sewn with that craft. I have noticed that some patches are decorated and sewn on after which would be good if it was just for decoration. It has made a really secure mend! 😄🧵
Ooo loving shashiko visible mending. 🤩
