      I just replaced my outside handle with your part. Do you sell the 10mm bolts for the interior handles ?

    The dealer tried to quote my father 975$ for just the parts. I ordered the kit off 1A auto, which literally came with everything and installed it today. My dad was thinking of trading his truck in before he talked to me, this video and parts kit saved my dad well over a grand, thanks very much guys!

    Dealer wanted to charge me $400. I bought the kit for $60 and it took me a couple hours to change it. I’m no good with cars either. You guys are a blessing .

    I have to do this. My handle fell off in my hand 2 years ago. I’ve been rolling down my window to open my door since. It’s such habit, that no matter what car or truck I’m driving, I immediately roll the window down as I’m coming to a stop. My family and friends have looked at me like, “what are you doing?”😂

    Just did this on my 2013 Silverado 1500. A few tips for whatever it's worth:
    -Disconnecting the harnesses beneath the switch panel is a bear. Took me about 15 minutes just to get this part, might be easier with two people and some small flatheads.
    -When drilling out the plastic rivets, be careful not to overdrill as you can damage the plastic female end and thread.
    -Popping the new handle into place took a lot of force and I never heard an audible pop.
    -In the video when he puts the door panel back on he lines up the two bottom hooks first. I'd recommend lining up the top of the panel with the window sill very first since there's a groove it needs to sit in.
    Otherwise, very helpful video!

    Ok my mechanic quoted me 90 bucks for the part and I didn’t even ask how much for labor, I just knew I had to go home and watch 1A Auto first, checked it out and it’s just over 50 bucks, I’m buying this tomorrow, you guys have always been the only people I watch for repairs keep up all the videos

    Great detailed explanation. I loved that it was in no way dumbed down, drawn out like some guys do in their videos, and you didn't skip over anything. You just proved that with the right tools and know-how it's just a 10 minute job! I have my kit, it's 5 degrees out, but when it gets back to 30, I'm on it! Thanks!

    Thank you very much, your video was very helpful and price for parts very affordable. Prior to going online I took my 2011 GMC Sierra to the dealer, they stated that the only way to replace the broken handle was to replace the entire inside door panel it self at a cost of $700.00. The $42.00 and approx 1 hour of labor was well spent, Thanks again 1A Auto.

    Just did this tonight! Took about an hour because there was a slight defect in the male end of the handle. I needed to sand it down a little bit so the handle could slide on til it clicked. I tried and tried and couldn’t get it on, then I noticed a metal lip that I sanded down and it went on nicely after that. Also the plastic door panel needs to go on the rubber strip under the window as close as you can get it. That was a bit of a pain. But this video is great and made the job easy! Saved lots of money doing it myself rather than spending a few hundred at the dealership.

    Great video. I just changed the driver’s side handle on my 2011 Silverado LT Z71. There were a few of issues that I encountered not mentioned in the video. 1). There was an extra connection when I took off the instrument panel. It took me a minute to get that taken off door. 2). I had a hard time getting the new handle to snap back on the new component. It didn’t snap back on easily. 3). The door handle cable was a little tricky. It can get a little twisted when you tilt the door. I had to work it a little.
    But I never would have tried this without the video and the part from 1AAuto. Great job guys.

    Great video and the part came quickly. I found a bit of a shortcut for removing the cable, which was a little hard to do, even with the good instructions for tipping the door around to get at it. I found that it was hard to squeeze the tabs on the clip at that angle and realized, since I was removing the part, that I could just snap off the plastic corner of the handle body up to the clip/cable and it came right out.

    To anyone having issues getting the replacement handle onto the replacement housing: try opening the handle a bit and jamming something between so it can’t close all the way - this gives more room for the handle to connect against the rod it slides into

    Installed this today. Not something that someone with no knowledge of cars could do based on video alone. I had a lot of trouble getting the handle cable released, broke several of the door clips, and could not get a good solid screw attachment after boring out old plastic rivets. Also...there was an additional attached plug to the window control panel that I had to figure out. All in all....not an awful experience, but I wish the clips that did get broken had not broken. Time will tell how good of a fix this really was??

  • @sardgt4
    @sardgt4 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I just did this on my old truck. Unfortunately I ran into a surprise. My cable was cut as well. Barely sticking out 3/8”. I used a double barrel Nico sleeve and spliced a single barrel Nico sleeve and crimped it to roughly the same length. Used a grinder to shave it down to the cylinder shape to slide in to the handle lever thing. Didn’t think it would work but it did. Didn’t feel like ordering a new cable, also didn’t have the time for it

  • @thomasnielsen6563
    @thomasnielsen6563 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    As indicated by some folks ... had to use the old handle. New one would not "clip" in place. Don't know why more folks don't have this problem with the inside handle. I took the suggestion of a customer that used the old handle and worked just fine. In addition the new handle assembly would not lay flat into place. Hoping the screws and super glue will hold and the repair will last.

    Does anyone know if these cables are the same for both front and rear doors?

  • @cyclecircuit
    @cyclecircuit ปีที่แล้ว

    The door handle can be released with a small straight blade screwdriver prying under the head of the pin without removing the clip under the pin or the eclip at the handle crank. My door handle failed for multiple reasons, the eclip left to parts unknown, 4 of the plastic rivets failed taking part of the plastic with it and the pocket that the cable ball end goes in broke half away. I need the kit for the handle crank with a good pocket, the plastic bracket and will likely end up drilling through to the interior side and installing screws all the way through due to the original rivets breaking away and not leaving enough material to attach using self-tapping screws. I will probably apply some plastic cement between the plastic bracket and the inside of the panel. And now, a word on GM products; this will be my fourth trip in this door, twice for the latch which needs to be replaced again, once for the speaker of which all four have failed and now this handle repair that I'm going to say is woefully inadequate. Add in the failed brake switch, the EVAP solenoid, brakes twice, seems to burnout the drivers head light bulb frequently, terrible transmission shift map, 2008 Sierra 76,000 miles, not a good track record. oh, and the LH front switch pod has a defective switch for the RH rear door. I have a 1996 Tacoma with power windows and door locks that still work, I stopped driving it when the weather is hot last year because the AC quit. I'm really beginning to hate this GMC. The good side of this truck; on the open road supper comfortable, quiet, bright headlights (when they work), the stabilatrac saved my axx when a dear jumped in front of me.

    Do you have a video for a 2012 GMC Sierra replacing the front inside door arm rest? I might be saying the part wrong. But it's for the long piece of the door handle, which is next to the window buttons. The long plastic handle piece broke. Please advise?

    @4.16 you remove a clip and washer but don’t show putting back on. Do I need to do this?

    Good video!!! My question is, If just my door handle broke off I don’t need the whole kit do I?

    I have been doing the same thing rolling down the window and reaching out and opening the door from the out side but getting ready to buy a kit so I don't have to any more

    I had to replace mirror right after I changed inside door cable, noticed someone else had changed this part and stripped out the little screws. This will the third time taking the door panel off.

    First thing the installation video is great, its a great help for me to fix this issue, just one question arose while watching this, what exactly happens to the clip you pry out in 4:16? Do you reuse it when installing the new part or discard it?

      Thanks for watching. You would reuse the clip once its all back together.

    Question, does the super glue that comes with it work or should I purchase a better brand like gorilla glue

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  ปีที่แล้ว

      +@jssweet64 The glue included with this set will work as intended, you do not need to purchase different glue.
