You've definitely missed the lore academics.
Some specialize on splatbands, some on the idols, others on the story mode or the salmonids. But they all have at least heard something of everything.
Being a lore academic is extremely fun. Octo Expansion was the best lore dump.

A type I am that I think you missed: The Freelancer.
999 on every Salmon Run stage and a lot of skill to show, but overfishing just isn't your thing and you merely play to win. You rock the benefit of starting at Eggsecutive 400 all the time, probably have three gold stage/boss badges on your banner, and hop in on freelance every rotation. Being paired up with other people who have gotten 999 on stages, you see lots of coordination from players you don't even know. Teammates know strategies and help you crush high hazard levels.
Meanwhile I'm dying inside saying in my mind PLEASE USE YOUR SPECIALS PLEASE, but once you hit 700 its a bit smooth sailing

As a Salmon Runner who obtained every 999 gold EVP badge, here are some of my tips to Freelancers..... lure as much as possible like maws, take out backliners like flyfish or stingers, paint the walls, be evasive, always SIGNAL OVER HERE and LISTEN if there is a Big Shot also make sure someone stays by the basket so golden eggs don't get snatched up, and PLEASE use your SPECIAL, no your not stockpiling for King Boss Salmonids you only get 1 nor are you getting rewards for doing so, USE your SPECIALS
Yup, this ^^ Also, once you get above like evp ~600ish it's just not worth to fully kill the flyfish, just destroy one basket and leave it be
Freelancers need to listen to this way more often it’s so annoying,il be over swarmed and SPAMMING it and my teammates are over just egg running when we’ve already hit the quota LIKE SEND HELP

The grinder. But it's specifically for all the Toni Kensa branded stuff. That being said in the last few seasons there was no new Kensa stuff in the catalog, so I could take my time then. This current catalog is only a shirt. I still wish I had the title and banner tho...
And I suppose I'm a partial overfisher, but with the freelance rng. I love Salmon Run though
I remember watching your Horrorboros guide when I got the game and even if I don't consider myself an Overfisher, I have made A LOT of progress since then. Only missing two 999 badges, near the gold badges of boss Salmonids, got the silver of each King and defeated the Triumvirate on HLM. So yeah, this is in huge part thanks to you lol
You missed "The Creative Challenger". If you've noticed what me, Glaceon, BlondNinja, and Galaxy get up to sometimes (as in our Side Order Lockout Challenge), then you'd know how creative the Splatoon community can get as well. There's also the "Dedicated Challenger" in the form of Kacero, with his No Damage Challenges, his 24-hour challenges ("Every Splatoon Game 100%" and "X Rank in 24 Hours"), the Splatoon 3 Experience Speedrun, and even some of his albeit more rare non-Splatoon content (such as beating Pokemon White 2 with ONLY a Snivy for instance). And lastly there's the "For Fun" players. This only really applies (in regards to the evidence I'm about to give) for Splatoon 1 and 2, but CallieMacN did a series called "Fun Time with Woomys" for those two games, having decided not to do it again for Splatoon 3, but MY GOD were the things she did on that series with her friends were fun to watch (some examples being Randomizer, Hide & Seek, Juggernaut, Birthday Specials, some challenges of her own, and more). And these are just the types of Splatoon players I see in the community, there might be a Slosher-load (ba dum tss) of types!
Probably couldve mention Party and Docile;
Party: Squid Parties... Or Octo Parties if we're not going to be be Racist to the Octolings (Me at S1/S2)
Docile: similar to The partiers, but not as energetic and refusing to flop around (this is definitely me when playing S3)
Okita honestly forgets about tableturf even though a friend group uses it to chill out after stressful matches - actually squealed when Elie appeared for that part! Had always seen her as the card game type XD
you missed the speedrunner and the completionist.
speedrunner: absolutely loves destroying mr grizz as fast as possible and rarely ever plays online
completionist(me): can barely do anything until you see you have done every single thing that can be done in hero mode/side order

I hate the players that follow me, even when I don't have the rainmaker, not on the tower, or in the zone. It's like they deliberately want to splat me.
I'm the rare tableturfer, but also a low-key overfisher. But more often than not I just like to see how far I can go without losing, and farm scales sometimes.
..and try to do challenges if I don't forget.

Crypt of the Necrodancer is my favorite roguelite, but Side Order has been a good "Pallet Cleanse"

I'm Challenger/Casual with a tiny bit of Overfisher and Side Orderer mixed in.
Absolutely, the Grinder. I do enjoy grinding away in Splatoon. Either for badges, weapons, gear, Salmon. You name it. You will find me grinding. I'm NOT a Weapon Master, but there's classes like Rollers or Stringers that I WILL master, to 4 star all of them at bare MINIMUM while 5 staring my favorites, like both Stringer kits or maybe Carbon Roller. All in all, I love Splatoon. And I enjoy the grind.

I’m basically a conglomerate Weapon Master: competitive but casual.
I’m a Jack-of-All and have gotten 26 weapons over 4-star Freshness (4 of the 26 are 5-stars), having done EVERY Reefslider and Wave Breaker weapon in the game (possibly ever now), just to get the respective Gold Special badges.
I am also a bit of a Complainer, but as someone who plays Ninjala on occasion, let me just say: Splatoon 3 could’ve gone way worse. Trust me.
Oh, forgot to add: I, at the very least, 1-star every weapon that had been released, just for the Sheldon Licenses.

I am a Casual! No doubt about it! But I’m slowly trying to break my way into Cataloguer and Overfisher. 😅 It’s… really tough. But I managed to reach level 60 Catalogue last season, my highest by far! And I’m nestled in Executive VP’s 100’s. Progress is being made

I consider myself as a Casual as well the Complainer.
I enjoy Salmon Run but… Getting few scales when I win is raging and playing with rando is a huge gamble but entertaining.
To me it Splatoon 2.8 with a few cool feature it

Decorating is fun but when I am done it like. Welp it is a thing.
Rather play master duel than table turf.
Ever since I started streaming my tune had changed. It fun to play with chat but eventually thing get Sammie.
Doesn’t help that alot of the friends I used to play with aren’t always interested. It usually more me dragging other to an event or being a hype man.

I think it's more legit than ppl give it credit for. It buffs ur defense, denies the enemy retreat, and wards off entire angles almost entirely.
Sure, ultra sweats will see thru it, but the last 98% of the game definitely plays around it
The casual as I would say but more of a planner of what type of gear to wear on a certain weapon. That works best but I’m getting the pure gear abilities player 🙂 oh I might add 5 ⭐️ weapon too. But I would try new weapons that I’m not really comfortable on.

I main the ultra stamp one. I used to run whail but it oddly felt more defensive.
I need to learn that it's better on tower tho.
@@KNGDDDE Yeah, it's certainly interesting, I played the vbrush kit as well, and I'd say it probably feels a bit better, especially with the bomb, but it definitely feels a bit more defensive, which is weird with a weapon like brush that sort of thrives by running around and distracting.
@ti-henry if while activated faster it'd be different but the lock on time makes it hard to push with.
I say it's defensive because ranged targets are less of an issue, which is the main benefit to whail for me.
It's wierd that they're this close when vanilla has splat bomb, but that speaks more to the weakness of the main weapon.
I h8 wen ppl bring up brush rolling mobility, because honestly the trade off isn't worth it. You don't roll anywhere near fast enough to beat this games shxtty net code, tick rate, hurt boxes.
This weapon is begging to be a detent fire (swipe on press and release of fire button) but they won't do it. Smacking someone with the brush removes the ink from hitting the ground, meaning if they gain momentum they can literally roll away from a death.
Stamper just doesn't cover your front, and it's hitboxes have a lot of confused identity to say the least. So the vanilla kinda wins out by default because atleast u don't have stamper bs, and mines will never beat splat bombs.
I could go on but hey, let's see if we'll ever get kit 3. Fizzy/wavebreaker, toxicM/missiles, I'd die for beacon/splasdown 💀😭😂.
I love how u made the complainer, bcs yes, thats probably like the 3rd biggest group on this list of people, theres a lot of people who complain about splatoon or call it a bad game.
also id like to add what i call myself and what i know some people to be. The splatoon obsessed, they (I) likes splatoon so much and has so much fun playing it that we have lots of skill and hours and has a wide variety of interest points, salmon run? side order? ranked? theyre the best at all,. they love to play all sorts of weapons, they don't care too much about whats "meta" or what kits r "bad" because they enjoy to play fun weapons instead of trying to win the match. they dont care if they win or lose because theyre just happy to play the game. they also love to clip satisfying moments in game

No problem that is being brought is new, there WILL ALWAYS be intolerance in society, go look up the tolerance-intolerance paradox if you don’t believe me. As long as humans exist, intolerance will also exist nothing can be done to get rid of it all. Just focus on the good people have done and not the bad. You forgot two categories:
1. The thrower. The one who finds joy in not contributing to the game as to waste people's time and make other people suffer. A common example is a squid partier. These people do not have friends, thus they force others into sharing their misery.
2. The bot. People who demonstrate a lack of critical thinking skills that hinder a game and thus inconvenience the team. The bot has a high death count while not running QR because somehow they think dying is more useful than actively contributing meaningfully.
