In 2022, 557,000 people quit the UK. There were mostly wealthy and professional people. (These are the people who can get visas for Europe and elsewhere). More than 1.2 million came to Britain - almost all from Africa and Asia - almost all by plane with work or student visas. 46,000 came on boats. Hence, net migration of over 700,000 in 2022. The brain drain is serious as reveals in the shortage of doctors dentists, engineers, coders, computer engineers etc. Things are going to get considerably worse in 2024 when the government makes it's 6th attempt to impose import controls.
@@lovelybitofbugle219 The huge difference is that any German citizen is free to move to any of the other of 25 other EU states. In the UK, it is only the wealthy and professionals that can freely relocate to anywhere in the EU aside from Ireland and Gibraltar. Gibraltar is a tax haven so only the very wealthy can afford the rents there. Because Ireland is a high productivity, high wage economy, rents are high there too. Still, a lot of Brits have moved to Ireland in the last 5 years. In the last census in Ireland (3 April 2022), 6% of the population was British born. In the last census in the UK (21 March 2021), 1% of the population was Irish born.
The day after referendum i had 5 british citizen in my office. They would become german citizen. And many many more the time after
