I grow potatoes as a fun hobby now that I am retired. A one row Spedo potato planter and a one row Spedo potato digger and a one row bedder and a compact tractor and 1/4 acre of land. I hated growing potatoes when I was a kid and had to plant, hoe, and dig them by hand. It's fun when you can hobby farm them from a tractor seat.

Lots of guys here in Idaho do both sugar beets and potatoes but the beet coop kind of works with the growers to let them do both.
