Crafting an Artisan Leather Maple Leaf Corset

  • Another relaxing video of Nora leather crafting, this time making a custom corset made of maple leaves. Each leaf was cut out and tooled individually, and then they were sewn together to form a corset/belt/waist cincher.
    Foxes and Ravens, Nora's boutique, specializes in fantasy and medieval themed leather costume pieces, especially accessories like pouches, corsets/belts, and bracers. Nora is particularly skilled in leather tooling, and loves creating original designs, especially in celtic styles. She also loves incorporating elements from nature, and more organic shapes and designs.
    Here's where you can order one, perhaps as a gift for a special someone:

    This belt was a custom commission for a client who wanted a twist on this belt:

    Do you make anything with the little scraps?

    Where did you get that wood-handled curved knife? It's beautiful. I have a metal-handled one, but I would rather have one that is more enjoyable to use.

    Beautiful work! Definitely my favorite of your artisan series. My hands couldn’t tool so much leather. Your mallet is quite unusual as well. Is there a name for that style?

    • @FoxesandRavens
      @FoxesandRavens  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much! My mallet is just a regular old rawhide mallet, but I made a leather cover for how side for when I'm hammering leather itself (the rawhide or metal would scratch the leather quite a bit, which you don't usually want!)

      I use Eco-Flo dyes, the first one is Saddle Tan, the one on the edges is watered down Dark/Medium Brown

    Amazing! What thickness is that leather?

    • @FoxesandRavens
      @FoxesandRavens  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's 8-9oz, which is a bit thicker than I would maybe normally do, but 5-6oz or 6-7oz is rarely on sale ;)

    Could you do a raven wing/feather corset?

    • @FoxesandRavens
      @FoxesandRavens  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You know, it's funny you mention that! I'm in the process of developing a collection of items with feathers, using die cutters to make the feather shapes. It should be released in December
