Speed Painting Hawthorn and Yarrow Flower Corset
มุมมอง 6724 ปีที่แล้ว
Painting a custom corset with Hawthorn and Yarrow flowers (and bees!). I tried to go for an Art Nouveau style, as much as I could on leather. I use 7-8oz veg tan leather, Eco Flo water-based dyes and stains (and for this, their antiquing gel as well), and acrylic paints (not special for leather, just regular acrylics), with Eco Flo satin shene finish, and my own home-made beeswax leather balm t...
The Making of an Artisan Forged Hammer at Forge Ilmarinen
มุมมอง 19K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Forging a hammer head takes patience and precision. Romain of Forge Ilmarinen spent years learning blacksmithing with the Compagnons of France, and has brought his craft to Quebec, creating traditional items with modern tools. Blacksmithing, like any traditional, artisan craft, is not just a thing of the past, to be performed in museums and for historical reenactment: it's a living craft done b...

Where to purchase a kit?
Sooo amazingly beautiful!!! A joy to see your work. ❤
Sherbrooke ?!? I never guessed you were this close !! I’m in the Laurentiens and just started making leather crafts 😮 Just been obsessed with your work since i started looking into leather crafts 🥰🥰 your work is stunning and inspiring 😍
As a beginner who just bought the pattern, I wish you had included some step by step instructions
I very much appreciate the video! Since the soles are the hardest part, please consider selling just those.
I wish I could! However, making these consistently hurts my elbows too much. I've tried looking into other production methods, but we've switched to doing fantasy gear, so we don't really have time to develop the product anymore :/ Maybe one day
Just a tip, you labelled this and other videos as ASMR, but ASMR videos dont have music in them so that you can hear the sounds of whatever is being done, and if they do have music its soft and quiet in the background. Like I said just a tip, because an actual ASMR video of leatherwork would be super awesome and relaxing!
Where can I get this kit?
Nice work :) I love seeing makers doing it ther way. excellent job. Respect for using a proper clicking knife ! those things blow IMO LOL & a hard cutting mat OMG thay blunt your knife really fast.
do you have a free pdf pattern on this on.. sorry for asking..
We sell this and other patterns on our website: foxesandravens.com/collections/digital-patterns
What is the width of the head of those rivets? They look about 10mm wide?
I believe they're 8mm, standard double cap rivets
@@FoxesandRavens Thank you!
any particular place you can buy the leather for the uper shoe ?!cause it is very hard to find it in UK 😕can’t find anywhere to be soft
is the pale fabric your using leather and if it is do you have any cheaper recommendations to substitute it?
Yes it is leather! I would recommend foam for cosplay as a cheaper alternative 😊
I’m in the process of making these…great video.
What is the brown hide your using? Oz, as well, thank you.
Excellent work. Clear and concise. Thanks for sharing your video.
Beautiful work!!!
Excellent video!!!
These are wonderful! I love your process for crafting these shoes. Skal

Do u sell these? I’m just asking
Yeah of course! We call it the Adventurer's Two-Tiered Warrior Belt (the "adventurer" part just means you can get custom designs on it)
Keep being a teacher please, it transemds time and people
Love the ingenuity, here in the states it's all Brutes no brains..... One or two maybe. You guys make it look easy 🤙🏽 thanks for the video
As a BIG httyd fan this is fabulous

I love this, would love to see it as a complete outfit. Do you have any advice, for creatives who wish to add leather work to their skill set, on what tools to start with? Thank you
Have a look at @p4perback's TikTok or IG account for a longer look at the final result! We have intro videos on our channel for leatherworkers starting out ;)
This is amazing!
I'm just in New Brunswick and I do art too. ❤
This is what I needed! Its so hard to find an outlet in leatherwork where everything isn't belts/wallets and handbags or the western style. No offence intended for those fine crafters but it just isnt my style! I have this driving passion to create leather outside the normalized expectations. I just haven't honed it yet or found people who want to purchase it. Im still just making the wallets and purses until I can get up the courage to continue into the fantasy style/ nature element I've always wanted to do. I have made my own skyrim drink holders and a couple other personal items but there is no market where im at for this creativity.
Excelentes trabajos ! Tengo los patrones de tus botas vikingas y son HERMOSAS .....mucho éxito ❤❤❤
Id like to order a pattern but im concerned it wont ship in time for the ren faire. Could you please tell me how long it would take to ship to Tucson AZ?
Hey there, so we only offer digital patterns, which you download and print at home (or at your local library/copy center). No longer offer kits. This is quite an advanced project, and can easily take 18 hours to complete two shoes, so I wouldn't recommend trying it on a tight schedule. However, if you're excited to try, you can get access immediately!
Can't wait to see some of your videos good luck with it 😊
Thanks Tim! Trying to get back into it
We are leather workers and you as well as other leather worker's are always good for inspiration 😊
😮
Holding the curved knife, with a hammer grip, and putting you hand underneath the leather with the blade tip only exposed to the line being cut is much easier, because you have a firmer grip. Also nailing the leather to the bench makes for holding the leather easier. Doing both will make for the knife not breaking, and cutting yourself unlikely. 😂❤😂
I've updated the kinds of knives I use several times since making this video, but more than anything I would say that you need to sharpen your knives very regularly. It shouldn't be hard to cut leather, even very thick leather, if your knife is appropriately sharp. So having a knife that's easy to sharpen is key! And curved blades aren't great for that, so I no longer use them.
@@FoxesandRavens yes , I buy hook blades for my Stanley knife, they are mass produced and wickedly sharp and cheap. Also a bit of stropping definitely will make them glide along.
Artists with Chainsaws - fantastic work gentlemen!
It is a hilarious juxtaposition!
Hi, how long does it take you finish the shoes after the raw pieces are cut und punched ?
Usually maybe 3-6 hours for the sewing? It usually took me 6-8 hours to make a pair of shoes start to finish, but other less experienced people said it takes longer for them.
would love to do this but everything shoe related is too small for me. Having a size EU 50-51 foot sucks.
Hey Matt, the sizing on the pattern goes up to 48 but I can provide larger sizes. Don't give up hope yet!
Where did you get that little hook blade knife for cutting leather, looks to be perfect for cutting out the corners.
Yeah it's fun, although to be honest, I think a regular #11 x-acto or hobby knife or whatever you know it as does the job just as well and is less expensive to replace the blade. Here's a similar one that Tandy offer: tandyleather.ca/products/tandypro-tools-precision-knife But these days I use a knife more like this one: tandyleather.ca/products/tandypro-r-japanese-style-flat-knife
And what does the inscription say??
That is beautiful leatherwork, nice job. 👍🏼💯
Beautiful craftmanship. 👍🏼💯
This is exactly what I was looking for!!! I'm hoping to create a leather corset to match my new gauntlets!! Thank you so much for the great tutorial! I have never worked with real leather and this seems like a great place to start for me!
Wonderful! This is definitely a great beginning project for leather. It's a very satisfying material, I hope you enjoy working with it!
Wow really amazing what a skill u have!!!!!
I just got the pattern in a fit of daredevilry and have some veg tan on the way! It seemed rather daunting but now I feel it’s doable! ❤ Are there any tips for a beginner? For example in your video on the Oseberg boot you skived / bevelled the sole edges, didn’t you? Is this strictly necessary?
Awesome is the best way to describe this
Are you still around and making things? X
I Love this! Can I get the pattern?
