I am completely enamored of TH-cam, it has allowed so many of us Moodies to become the fans that The Moody's deserve! Thank you ALL for sharing!! God Bless you all, peace, & love
From one of the greatest albums of all time: To Our Children's Children's Children by the Moody Blues. A true MASTERPIECE, and I do not say that lightly. TOCCC will change your life.
After 6 decades _TOCCC_ has moved up in my ranking of the Classic 7 albums. _Seventh Sojourn_ is still on top; _TOCCC_ is in 2nd, a VERY close 3rd being _Days of Future Passed_ -- the one that started it all.
Makes me want to cry, his voice is so beautiful! I remember hearing this live in 94.m, thank you! Ray...you are missed! (Why would anyone give this a thumbs down?)
No idea Diana.. Ray was as much an influence as Justin or John in the feel and direction of the band.. and for those who are truly Moody fans.. they will know where the groups’s soul comes from.
I have. Many times. Got to see the Moodies right after he walked on. You could tell that they were grieving and hurting from the loss. Still, brilliant concert as usual.
@@davidlawler4414Ray was a founding member of the Moody Blues before Justin joined the group. Of course I’m glad that Justin joined the group because he really added a lot to it.
Never will be the same ,especially since he died today ... We have his music and vocals and flute... The Moodies still are righteous ... Hall of Fame time a coming.
I saw a performance at Tanglewood in mass. My daughter sat on my lap in the second row. She was singing word for word until she became aware 2 rows of people were mesmerized by her. A very proud dad indeed
I absolutely adore Ray!!! The gift with his flute makes me so happy that l played one. No one realizes what it takes to play that little elf.lf you don't breathe at the right time at the right second with the right air speed that little girl isn't going to sing.l love you Ray
You are allowed to type the word GOD, it's not a sin and a thunderbolt will not strike you dead for it. Here's an old joke for you. A man was playing golf with a priest, he played a shot and it missed, he said Oh fuck it, missed. The priest said, you should not curse like that, God may send a lightning bolt and strike you dead. The man just laughed and carried on, he played another shot, just missed the hole and said, fuck it, missed again. The priest said, that's twice you have cursed, a third time and you willl surely be struck by a bolt of lightning. The man just laughed again and carried on, he played his next shot, the ball rolled towards the hole and veered off, missing by an inch. He shouted out FUCK IT....MISSED! Just then a bolt of lightning shot down, hit the priest and killed him. A voice from up above said..FUCK IT, MISSED!
Ray will always have a special place in my heart and mind.. Twice he handed his tambourine to my daughter.. we saw them as a family in 7:39 Tanglewood, Mass. All eyes on Jacqueline as she was singing Eternity Road at 3!
I saw this Twitter message from Ray Thomas today: " "Hark, Listen, Here he comes". What my nana and 2 neighbours said every time in air raid shelter. It stuck with me until it went into a song"
they are totally timeless the quality and awsomeness of their music will be with me forever, with mike pinder of course one of these pieces that had to be there. it's like my brother died .ray thomas has entered eternity road ,wow.
God bless you and your family Ray. Been with you since the 60's..have all the band's original vinal including your solo albums. Will forever listen to them. Rest in peace dear brother. Sending my love to your family at this time You'll be in my heart and soul forever...Randy.. Mich. 1952
Ray came to last night's performance of the Treorchy Male Voice Choir (at Leatherhead) and got a good round of applause in acknowledgement from the crowd. (Choir was excellent.)
R.I.P.. Ray passed Jan.2018 ..Thanks for the music, I'll be playing this song when the Moody's are inducted into the Rock hall of fame long overdue too late for Ray !
Personally, I wish Ray Thomas would record a Christmas album. That would be a magnificent thing, I'm sure! Can you imagine his rich and beautiful baritone on some of the old classics, like "t|Three Ships", "Gabriel"s Message", "Silent Night", "Oh, Holy Night", "What Child is This?", "Joy to the World", etc, etc? Now that would be a gift!!!
Jeanie, he did sing Silent Night on his Facebook page on Christmas Eve! Not sure if you are a member there but you can join us at Ray Thomas, Legend of a Mind or search You Tube for Ray Thomas, Silent Night
From '68 to '94 his voice matured even more, making the most of that deep baritone delivery and powerful vibrato; one of the few performers who got better with age. It's usually the other way around.
The Moody Blues are unique. No one takes precedence over the other. When Ray sings, Justin and John back him up but step out of the light. The same goes with the others. Graeme voices "The Orb" in DAYS OF FUTURE PASSED. Isn't it wonderful? Ray began with the Moody Blues singing a George and Ira Gershwin song from PORGY AND BESS. Truly they are ALL grand! ~ Janet
Ray was always a minority used in songs...he has such a fabulous resonating voice...wish they used him more...I guess he was happy being a role player...a good one....I saw this one in concert as well along with veteran cosmic rocker...
What a voice! You can just hear the lute (not sure of this spelling), I saw them 5 times! Drove for hours to see them, and it seemed like an Eternity Road! You are still missed, the ocean calls you home🤗
Ray had such a beautiful baritone voice. The depth and richness of it is just....gorgeous. I sometimes think Welshmen (which I think he is descendant of) are just gifted with this sort of voice. AND THANK YOU FOR SHARING THIS VERSION OF THIS LOVELY SONG.
best version of this song I have heard, Ray does a beautiful job, love his voice and his flute playing is out of this world perfect..................love this song and God I love these guys
During their final tour in 2001 they featured Ray. I miss his voice and the original harmony when Mike Pinder was with the group. I have seen them dozens of times starting in 1970 continuing to 2008.
I was there. Many, many grateful smiles now. I had to play first flute for and did.... long time ago......my fingers still value Master Lodge. Merry and the load is never too much when we can share music. Thank You Family. Thankfully......will always search, with kindness. Holidays wishes sending...
They put me in bluey mood. I say that because have have a choice blue or green I can't be both at the same time and I don't choose except for lets listen to moody(blues) and be blue
I saw the Moodies 15 times, but never when they were touring with local symphonies. A great regret. Ray's songs, voice and flute gave the band so much more dimension and power.
Truly amazing performance. Ray, never did get enough songs to perform on stage and yet his songs are just wonderful! A briliant live recording. Thanks a million for posting this moodies classic. moodies fan, Tony.
One of the best Moody Blues' songs, and a tribute to Ray Thomas, the great story-teller of the Moodies --- the album cut from To Our Childrens' Childrens' Children is still in my view tremendous - especially the end riffs which are so ahead of their time. Rock on...
That was awesome. Ray was so talented. In 1970 I was a high school senior and stayed in my room for hours listening to them. We lived in Alaska so didn't get to see them in concert. Thanks for putting this up for us to all enjoy. Love you tube music fans!! Especially MB's ones.
The Moody Blues happens to be one of those rare groups that sound as good, if not better when they are live on stage. One of my all time favorite bands for the last 40 years, and there have been a LOT of quality bands in 40 years to choose from!
Ray Thomas is awesome! Wish he was still with the Moody Blues. I bet he is having fun in his retirement. Great version of this song, Thanks for the post.
I am completely enamored of TH-cam, it has allowed so many of us Moodies to become the fans that The Moody's deserve! Thank you ALL for sharing!!

Yes, I’m thankful that TH-cam has the Moody Blues on it. The Moodies are about all I watch.

Indeed and yes they have.

Agree 100%.
I agree 100%.. My favorite Moodys album... it transports me back to the 70s every time. Ray was the soul of The Moody Blues!
My favourite MB album. This is very good. RIP Ray.
Only a Welshman can sing like that. RIP Ray Thomas.
Rest IN Peace, Ray. Thank you for sharing your beautiful voice and music with us.

The very underrated, Ray Thomas! The group is just not the same without him and Mike Pinder!
+John Thomas Amen!!
still great.
Never will be the same ,especially since he died today ... We have his music and vocals and flute... The Moodies still are righteous ... Hall of Fame time a coming.
Long overdue for the Hall of Shame
Very much Kevin. Needed to be in the hall a lot sooner. That's for sure.
The Moody Blues are the only band I listen to. I will listen to them until I am gone. Ray's voice was so wonderful.
I saw a performance at Tanglewood in mass. My daughter sat on my lap in the second row. She was singing word for word until she became aware 2 rows of people were mesmerized by her. A very proud dad indeed
I can't even begin to explain the influence these guys had on my life. Thank you all, we miss you Ray.

"God doesn't play dice" She's not stupid.
Wtf are you talking about?
Ray could sing with an earless band, in a sandstorm, and still sound great. :-)
I must say, you could pluck each band member out of the group, and you would have
a great talent . The Moody Blues were something special.
they STILL ARE dude. I just PRAY that I can see them again before we are all taken home. Since 1969....26 concerts
Still are!!!
William Rhinehart I’ve only seen them 8x since ‘85!!
@@karendaehn797 I've never seen them. But I still love there music
Yep I thank God for seeing them all together back in the day....Nothing but awesome.

The music of our youth. His voice sounds so rich and strong. Thank you Ray.
Thanks do much for posting. Loved this song for years.
Good interpretation. Miss Justin's guitar. I loved his guitar sound in the earlier songs.

Best voice range in rock in my opinion. I had a major crush back in the day and all their albums too.
Thanks Ray for all those years of encouragement.

Great song, by a great group. They were great in concert too.
