I very recently got a Vindaaris from DSA. I ordered it from the SBG store to get it sharp without the usual fee. While I was expecting 6-8 weeks for shipment, it was ready in 1. My box was stuffed tightly with packing paper enough to prevent any movement at all within. To my surprise, they added the belt system as well even though I didn't actually order it. Sucks your initial shipment experience was like that, but it's good they put the effort in to take care of you in the aftermath of it.
I think you are correct about where the weight is. The extended pommel/grip & the bulky flair's on the ends of the guard likely add about 8-12oz of weight if not more. Similar to the Albion Conan swords that are movie accurate but hefty this sword seems to have gone more to look like the movie instead of redesigning it some to cut weight for a more historic weight as seen in similar swords. But given it's decent functionality & relative movie accuracy I'd say it seems a god buy if one wants a functional LOTR sword.
Great video! I liked that you had cutting AND hilt/pommel construction in addition to your commentary. Sorry about the shipping. That sucks. They kind of have the market cornered on functional replicas of this sword unless you go custom, which is kind of a shame. But, again, great video. I have a practice L.S. by darksword. The guard is either extremely soft, or my gigantic fencing partner was hitting way harder than I thought. But I think you have a nice sword!

Maybe it was a make rate kinda packing instead of quality. Amazon does that too
So who is the “best” sword maker?
Have you ordered thru kult of athena? They pack up well, and tend to send blems back to the maker unless it’s overly common like with Cold Steel
