I was 15/16 when this came out. I have always been a heavy rock girl but the harmonies of LRB still got to me as well. No auto tune, just pure talent, all of them. Named after a small town near Geelong in Victoria Australia from memory but I could be wrong (there certainly is a little place called Little River near Geelong).
One of the most underrated bands of all time. They earned the nickname "Australian Eagles" because of their harmonies and melodies. The rabbit hole for this band is long and extensive, and a fun one to go down. "Lonesome Loser", "Reminiscing", "Cool Change", and "Take It Easy on Me" are a good start. Great reaction!
Brilliant! Such fine music then.... And this is some of that ' fine'..... & one day soon that world they wanted then is coming and the long way to where I'm goin that "new earth" without tears will be here and we will be there! (1Thess.5 :21, the Bible) til then "make sure of all things, hold fast to what is fine"! (1Thess.5 :21)
Oh my!! “Cool Change or Lonesome Loser” next 🔥🎶 One of my favorite bands ever!! I have their greatest hits CD in my car! I have worn it out 🥰 So underrated but we appreciate their music so much ♥️🎶
This is a great soft rock band from Australia. They had a lot of great hits especially in the 70's-80's such as "Happy Anniversary", "Lady", "Reminiscing", "Cool Change", "Lonesome Loser", "Take It Easy On Me" etc.
So many masterpieces, each one,, Must listen to “Reminiscing” with your wife at your side. Such a romantic fun song. This group is one of a kinf and still loved.
Sebs, the guitar player playing all the leads is Ric Formosa. There is an interview with him on TH-cam and he explained that he had the flu and when they recorded this song, it was done on one take. He said if he did it right the first time he could go home because he was sick....... Wow... right?
LRB (outside of Australia) is quite possibly the most underrated band from this era and genre! So many great songs from them! In the early 80s they opened up for the Eagles in America… And the Eagles have stated that they admired them and even listened in on their rehearsals for pointers/advice. This song is no doubt a masterpiece… An epic track to say the absolute least! It truly is one of the greatest songs ever recorded… It’s pretty much perfect… And then some!
One of my favorite bands. Actually this song/album was released in 1976 not 67. I met them then while working at a store when I was in high school. LRB was signing the albums and I was outside in the parking lot ringing up the customers and talking with them in between their signings. So excited then and they were great to talk to. I have a picture of me and the drummer taken by the local newspaper. Good times! Love this band!
I had completely forgotten about this amazing track but i have it, on vinyl, and used to play it constantly on the turntable, back in 1976, when it was released. Just downloaded to my playlist. An unbelievable track. Great reaction.
It was 1976. Little River jumped on the scene and I was 16 at the time. This song is a Masterpiece no doubt. I had the 8 track and wore it out. Their sound was so different and awesome!!❤❤❤❤
This song came on the radio when I was at work in the 70's. I stopped in the middle of what I was doing and just listened. The first song I ever heard by LRB. I was hooked. It just drew me in and took my mind on a trip. I still just close my eyes and listen. Absolutely mesmerizing! It started my love for LRB since!! I'm 71 now and still listening!! LRB songs are works of art. Update--I turned 72 and still listening!!!! It only gets better each time I listen.
Glenn Frey from The Eagles publicly admitted he considered LRB as the best vocal band in the world. he said this at the 1988 Brisbane Expo live concert while he was travelling with LRB. LRBs harmonies during every live concert were as good as they were in the studio. A friend of mine was recording in a studio in London while LRB were in the studio next door. They spent the ENTIRE weekend working on the harmonies for one song. THAT is why they were so good.
Ive known of The Little River Band my whole life and have never heard this song. The songs that i do know are very good as well. Thanks for reacting to less known and underrated bands!!!
It's well known in Australia. It had a shorter version for the radio. Always good to hear this long version. I have it in my driving collection. Great reaction by the way.
Lonesome Loser should be your next one. LOVE IT. This is one of my favorite bands. Not as big of a fan when they had Farnham, but loved the original lead (in this song) Shorrock. He was the best!
It's a Long Way There is an absolute masterpiece. It was released in 1975, not '67. Little River Band was one of the earliest Aussie bands to make it in the US, paving the way for the likes of Men at Work and INXS. Help is on Its Way is another iconic Little River Band track.
AND...... the MOST internationally awarded Oz band. Far more than the likes of INXS or Midnight Oil and yet strangely, rarely ever played on radio by comparison to those 2.
I graduated high school in 1973...aware of the song at the time and The Little River Band. I checked the song date and it was released in 1976... Great review and good to hear it again. EDIT...I googled the release date, there are recordings from 1975 and an album release by the same name in 1978
Yep , I am 51 but remember listening to bands like this going camping , traveling through the countryside with my Dad in the old Ford Transit van , Good old days , good memories and Great Music that lasts the test of time . 😁🇦🇺
For those of us who lived through the 60’s and 70’s do remember those songs. I lived through the first moon landing, LA riots, Monterey Festival, Woodstock, the Vietnam War, Kent State, Chicago Democratic Convention, John Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Demonstrations against the Vietnam War. I could go on and on. There was so much history happening that sometimes I can’t remember a song but when I hear different songs they take me back to that time in my life. I can hear the sounds, smell the air, and taste what it was like.😢❤
My first concert was headlined by LRB at Empire Stadium in Vancouver in 1979, with Sammy Hagar, Rocky Burnett and Firefly opening the outdoor show. It was also my first acid trip. Beautiful sunny afternoon/evening. Amazing memories ❤
This song was actually released in 1976, not '67. That said, that was the song my husband and I danced to at our wedding (in Australia). It's wonderful that Americans are discovering our older Aussie music - all the music I grew up with. You guys over there were so disadvantaged not getting any of our stuff. LRB was a great band. Thanks for allowing me to reminisce.
American here, I bought Little River Band in the late ‘70s . Bought it again on CD about 10 years ago. Played it in my truck for about 2 months straight…. EVERY song is superb!!!
Great reaction! Brought back memories of the music I listened to regularly in my high school days. Before everything became ... less. The 60s and 70s were the best, musically speaking. At least in my opinion. Have a great day and God Bless!
Haha! I love that description: "before everything became...less." Yes! Those of us who came of age during the greatest rock era - the 1970s - fully understand and agree with your comment!
I spent the entire month of September 2019 driving all along the eastern seaboard of Australia and while doing so I was completing my journey to photograph all seven continents. I created an amazing playlist that I never strayed from of only artist from Austrailia with Little River Band being my personal favorite. I can’t properly express how great of a time I had and how amazing the Aussies are. I could easily call that place home.
I checked some of your video's comments and they are pointing out that it dates to about 1975; that sounds right to me as I was a young woman at that time and this is the music of that era. Your comments, "musical geniuses", "not a song, a piece" and the "movements' in it are spot on Seb. Thanks for sharing. It was a journey of a song. We all are on long trip to somewhere in our lives, as individuals, families and as groups and nations.
Saw them at two Texxas Jams in the Cotton Bowl in some major lineups. Very tough gig and they were definitely up to the task. The second show they were followed by Billy Thorpe, Joan Jett and The Blackhearts, Pat Travers, Foghat and RUSH. Great band.
If you are a recording artist, especially in a band you know who they are from the lawsuit over the name and the horrific injustice that occurred. But the band had such a great run of amazing records.
Love LRB and Glenn Shorrock has such a smooth wonderful voice. All of the members can sing and they have great harmonies. They were a big part of my youth.
There was so much good music and musicians around in the day that we took them for granted. Now they are gone, but thankfully we can still enjoy their music, thanks to TH-cam and people like you.
I get goose bumps every time I hear this song, I’m in my 60s now so I know LRB well (btw Born in Ozzie land ‘lucky me”). Now I’m getting goose bumps watching someone else hear the magic. Liked and subbed 👌 keep these treasures coming please 😊
I’m 62. I was 15 years old when I was turned on to this song and album. Still one of my all-time favorite classics. I saw LRB in concert at Red Rocks around 1980 or so. Just a great band with an incredible catalog! Thank you for bringing them back!
It was released in 1975. It was the debut album of "The Little River Band" and it was the opening track. Classic song here in Australia. Glen Shorock is a great vocalist - one of our best. Living in Australia I was lucky enough to see this band live - superb live. The harmonies are as good as anyone (Eagles, Beachboys)
I grew up listening to Little River Band, they were one of my favorites and I'm with you, I can't believe more people have no idea who they are! Thanks for sharing!
Huge in Australia but like a lot of Australian bands they didn’t get much international exposure for commercial reasons or whatever and no internet back then for people to easily share discoveries like this. A lot of gems to explore from the past. Great review man!
1976 in The Netherlands, it was one of my most played albums that year. Now living in Australia. And still play the vinyl version just awesome. 48 years young is my album.
“I’ll be Home on a Monday” is also track worthy reviewing (similar vibe to Hotel California) - I thing Glen Shorrick is still performing as he had been doing gigs with Russell Morris (if you haven’t listened to some of his work like “The Real Thing” or “Wings of an Eagle” they are a treat) and Jim Keays (Masters Apprentices, another early Aussie band - sadly I think Jim has passed away)
After watching this I pulled this album out. I bought it shortly after it came out and haven’t played it in over 20 years. Today changed and now I’m going to listen to it again. They were a really good band.
Unless they bought the album, those Americans who heard and liked the song heard a ridiculously truncated radio version with that epic guitar solo by Ric Formosa taken out. This album version was mostly ignored when anyone spoke about muscular, gymnastic, melodic guitar, seamless use of orchestra, harmonies, melody - you name it. As a product of the 70s, I put it up there with anything that was played on radio: Hotel California, Baker Street, Do it Again, Bridge Over Troubled Water, Masquerade (Benson) - and anything that was lifted off albums to become popular classics, like Stairway or Maybe I'm Amazed. I NEVER get sick of 'It's a Long Way There'. Australian music from about 1965 to around 1992 was replete with amazing bands and songs, and I'm not talking AC/DC. I note from the YT comments that a lot of people from other countries are hearing Australian music from this time and saying "where the hell has this been all this time?" The fact is that America owned popular music and like Australian boxers, Aussie musicians never got a look in, no matter how talented they were. Now people are having their minds blown by Aussies, many of whom retired without a bean or pursued other careers. That's life I guess. Oh, and by the way, any band that can write 'Reminiscing' and ' It's a Long Way There' alone is worthy of legend status. Two of the best songs ever recorded. 'Reminiscing was Lennon's favourite song around the time he died. These are two songs even he and McCartney would wish they'd written.
It's a piece of music you could be proud of your entire life. You'd never look back at and feel embarrassed or cringe. Some of the effects might sound dated, but the composition and execution is timeless.
Not sure where that "1967" date came from. LRB was huge in the mid 1970s. Pretty sure their big breakthorough in North America came with the single "Reminiscing" sometime around 1975.
How lucky was I to be born into this generation. The Little River Band used to play at our Uni annual Ball in Melbourne. One of the great harmony bands of all time. Incredible!
They got their name from a road sign for the exit to a town called Little River. They were on the Princes Hwy between Melbourne and the city of Geelong.
When I first heard this group WAY back in the day I was blown away by their harmonies and the tightness as a group. Very underrated, in my opinion. Thank you for bringing back a cool memory.
I was going to praise the keenness of your analysis and depth of our newly shared fandom for these freaks (I saw lead singer Shorrock twice in 2022), and already had subscribed when you pronounced Melbourne so expertly in clearest Aussie replica, I would walk through fire for you. Power on, legend!
Part II 😁 I was turning 13 when this came out, living on Oahu. A lot going on then. Just pulled out of Vietnam, tons of music and bands and Urethane skateboard wheels was still new!! ☮️
You just listened to one of the greatest tracks of all time and one of the best Australian tracks ever, a true masterpiece. And Ric Formosa on lead guitar, what a legend. Add the harmonies and excellent production and you have a true epic. Long live LRB!
Great reaction mate. I saw LRB live in their real early days at a 'Stoned Again' concert in Melbourne in 1976.....and I was totally off my face (stoned again!😄). They played this song. Rick Formosa is the sublime lead guitarist here. What a concert.....jazz fusion band Crossfire was on the bill as well. Fantastic stuff.
Just now seeing this reaction. This is one of those bands that I would listen to back in high school. You know, when you have all the time in the world to just throw on your headphones and lounge in the dim light just grooving on some jams. TI'd throw that LP on and just play it cover to cover and then play it all over again.
Sometimes the studio version is the best representation of a band, because they can tweak everything to just as they imagined it to be. I'm glad you had your great earbuds for this one! "Orchestral Rock" - I LIKE it, Sebs!
After hearing this song and LRB so many times in my high school and college, days from 1976 and later, it was awesome to see him hear this classic for the first time. His reactions and review were perfect
I haven't heard this in years. I think I took all the music on the radio in the 70's for granted. I really enjoy listening to so many of these songs again and appreciating how great the music was back then. There was just so much variety and so much talent. Thanks
Whilst LRB had an amazing number of great songs, this is by far my favourite! Love Pink Floyd, so this song, as its title suggests, is a great journey and a treat to listen to, like many from PF❤. ... In 1985 I enjoyed a wonderful yachting holday with friends in the Whitsundays, in northern Queensland. I live in the south, in Melbourne. I documented that holiday with my first video camera. Much to the dismay of the friends, it took to 2020, during our covid lockdown, for me to edit it for presentation to the friends. One of the great songs I used in the soundtrack was "It's a Long Way There". I couldn't have found a better song! ... BTW unfortunately Americans (and many others), due to marketing difficulties, were never exposed to numerous gems from many Aussie artists, especially from the 60s to the 80s!
Thanks for playing the Little River Band... takes me back, for a different sound of theirs and "Cool Change" is like a therapeutic sail on the ocean. Speaking of great Australian bands, you may have played them but I've not heard any Midnight Oil... I would recommend starting with Beds are Burning and Truganini, packed with meaning.
Saw them do this live in 1977. I was 15 years old in Bakersfield. Won free tickets on the radio station KKXX Even at that age I knew this was an epic event
I was so lucky to be invited by Little River Band to Sing with them in the early 2000"s at some Casino Shows in mid Wisconsin... It was heaven to preform with them...
That wouldn't have been the real Little River Band, you played with the Little River Band cover band. The Original members were swindled out of the naming rights of the band by band member Glenn Houseden. The real members were Beeb Beebles, Glenn Shorrock and Grahame Gobles. They released an album as BSG in 2002 but nothing since then.
So glad you put this video up and loved it. LRB's in my top ten favorite bands. Please check out their later albums into the late 80's. And you should know that John Farnham was their lead singer for a couple of years and on three albums. He made them even more incredibly good! PLUS, if you haven't listened to Nickel Creek, then you should put them on your fast track of great bands and great music...Rodney Crowell as well. Thanks!
Wow you have discovered an amazing Australian soft rock band. They have intense harmonies and great songs, enjoy the rabbit hole. Australia has so many great bands and singers, you need to dive into the artists from down under. Thank you for the reaction from a proud Aussie💕💕
You got the information spot on.
Yes! I was 17. Can you believe that. I still love this song.
And "Night Owls"
Underrated? They were unstoppable and were on every radio in the world in their day.
Brilliant! Such fine music then.... Reminiscing is a great song ❤😊
Fantastic band. Curiosity Killed The Cat, Help Is On It's Way are another two worthy of a mention also.
Oh my!! “Cool Change or Lonesome Loser” next 🔥🎶 One of my favorite bands ever!! I have their greatest hits CD in my car! I have worn it out 🥰 So underrated but we appreciate their music so much ♥️🎶

@@nancy9891 My personal favorite from this group......we sure had great music back then.
I've said it a hundred times over and again MY GENERATION HAD THE BEST MUSIC WITHOUT A DOUBT WITHOUT QUESTION 💯 % and I am 73 yrs young
Am 78.....and you are right. Arena Rock will never come back at this level. You all who missed it......what a shame!
I'm 75 and this is the first time I've heard this and I'm buying a Hi-res version for my hi-res player!
67 & I agree.
NEVER WAS A DOUBT! 70s MUSIC RULED over all other decades of music...NOT EVEN CLOSE!
I really believe how we rocked it in the 70's, best music , bands ever!
First song you've reacted to I've never heard. The Little River band was one of my favorites in the 70s. Cool song.
Great Aussie band....stellar harmonies
These guys never got the respect or recognition they deserved. They were really good.
They were huge in America at the time (and of course everyone in Australia knew them),
Damn straight Brother
The best track they ever recorded as far as I'm concerned. The guitar work is stellar. And it was NOT released in 1967, it was 1976.
Definitely not '67 try 76
Yeh, I thought the guitar solo was a step up from the 60s….
Yeah, thought I misheard him. Dyslexia perhaps?
Agreed. This song did not get the recognition it deserved. Amazing throughout! 💯
My album says copyright 1975.
The Little River Band is a Rabbit hole you really need to go down!!!
Sebs, the guitar player playing all the leads is Ric Formosa. There is an interview with him on TH-cam and he explained that he had the flu and when they recorded this song, it was done on one take. He said if he did it right the first time he could go home because he was sick....... Wow... right?
Such an amazing guitarist
Sebs, you have found another fabulous rabbit hole to investigate. This band has had a long prolific career.
LRB (outside of Australia) is quite possibly the most underrated band from this era and genre! So many great songs from them! That's what I wanted to mention. The single version was an edited masterpiece. Better intro.

You've described the ambience of the piece perfectly. Growing up in Australia, roadtripping in a vast country in the 80s was the best.

This is my favorite LRB band song. Also, Curiosity Killed The Cat and Happy Anniversary
Great reaction ❤❤
This song came out in 1976 not 1967. But it is one of my favorite jams of all time. It's great to see the song get some well deserved exposure
Agreed
A Crosby, Stills, Nash vibe too, in those harmonies. Outstanding.
Spot on
Little River Band was extremely loved every time they came to St Louis. One of my favorites.
Great reaction! Brought back memories of the music I listened to regularly in my high school days. Before everything became ... less. The 60s and 70s were the best, musically speaking. At least in my opinion. Have a great day and God Bless!

I bought this album in 1970, and have been singing and rocking it since!!
A band that was overlooked until after their time. This brings back many memories.
If you are a recording artist, especially in a band you know who they are from the lawsuit over the name and the horrific injustice that occurred. But the band had such a great run of amazing records.
Dude, that's classic rock and roll. The real deal man. Music had real feeling and meaning back then.
Love LRB and Glenn Shorrock has such a smooth wonderful voice. All of the members can sing and they have great harmonies. They were a big part of my youth.
Masterpiece of a song 🎵 ✨️ 🔥

LRB was a band of masters !
I’m 62. I was 15 years old when I was turned on to this song and album. Still one of my all-time favorite classics. I saw LRB in concert at Red Rocks around 1980 or so. Just a great band with an incredible catalog! Thank you for bringing them back!
Oh, man, at Red Rocks!!! How fabulous.
Was Glen still singing or had John Farnham joined by then. I saw them twice in 83 with Farnham in Vancouver
Had to be Glen. I had left Colorado by the time Farnham joined the band in ‘82. I had to do a little research on that one.
It was released in 1975. It was the debut album of "The Little River Band" and it was the opening track.
Classic song here in Australia. Glen Shorock is a great vocalist - one of our best.

They were big in the US.
August 1976 this was made 70's classic
1976 in The Netherlands, it was one of my most played albums that year. Now living in Australia. And still play the vinyl version just awesome. 48 years young is my album.
My ultimate favorite group!! Your next one has got to be there best one, outta so many!!! ***COOL CHANGE***
I bet you listen more than once. You gave to.
Cool Change is one of my favorites from them. Love their sound.
These are two songs even he and McCartney would wish they'd written.
i have watched a bunch of these for this song, a song i have loved since it came out- and i really love how much everyone loves it!!!!!!!!
Work of Art 👍🏴
I loved their music in 1975 when I was 19. Today I am in love with their extraordinary talent. On a journey to see and hear what I’ve missed.
Thanks Sebs 👏👏
Fantastic sound coming over from you so I really enjoyed that masterpiece from LRB - gorgeous sound 🔥
It's a piece of music you could be proud of your entire life.
You'd never look back at and feel embarrassed or cringe.
Some of the effects might sound dated, but the composition and execution is timeless.
really appreciate your breakdown and comments about the stages of the break and how that relates to the mood of the singer
Makes one proud to be Australian. Thanks for the showcase.
Not sure where that "1967" date came from. LRB was huge in the mid 1970s. Pretty sure their big breakthorough in North America came with the single "Reminiscing" sometime around 1975.
I think he just mentally reversed the "76" from 1976 to "67". I can do that sort of stuff with numbers myself. 🤦♀
It's A Long Way There was LRB's breakthrough hit in the USA (an edited version of the above). Reminiscing came along later.
Brilliant band fantastic era .... Up there with any band from the 70's 80's 90's underated for sure
How lucky was I to be born into this generation. The Little River Band used to play at our Uni annual Ball in Melbourne. One of the great harmony bands of all time. Incredible!
Blindfaith "Can't find my way home." It really has that late 60s vibe. You should give it a listen.
There are so many great LRB tunes. Glad you got started on this band. One of my favorite bands.
I’m 65, LRB was huge back in the day. Listen to more of their creations. Their live vocals were smokin’.
Thank you for reminding me how good this song is.
Thanks for the amazing content and videos keep it up
I'm an Aussie hard rock fanatic but have always had much respect for the Little River Band - outstanding world class musicians & songs.
On the road, I listened to this so much that I still remember all the lyrics.
I don't know how I missed this one - I take pride in knowing my bands and songs but ... I have to go back and check this out.
LRB 'the night owl' too is great. Great music, but the harmonies is what I love
Not only in the studio they nailed every song live too. Phenomenal musicians in every slot .
Saw them live doing this track. Truely amazing.
Won free tickets on the radio station KKXX
Even at that age I knew this was an epic event
I've always loved Little River Band, but I've never heard this song. It reminds me of CSNY.❤
A Masterpiece !!🤗😘✌🤟🎶🎸
I was so lucky to be invited by Little River Band to Sing with them in the early 2000"s at some Casino Shows in mid Wisconsin... It was heaven to preform with them...
That wouldn't have been the real Little River Band, you played with the Little River Band cover band. The Original members were swindled out of the naming rights of the band by band member Glenn Houseden. The real members were Beeb Beebles, Glenn Shorrock and Grahame Gobles. They released an album as BSG in 2002 but nothing since then.
Not the real LRB Im afraid, just using their name
