Very interesting! When I was a kid in the early 70's I was an Army brat living in the Canal Zone. Dad would take us camping in nearby Playa La Angosta. We would play among the cannon and ruins only to find out much later in life the significance of Portebelo. I remember the people being genuinely friendly and kind. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you very much!!! I love the way you explain history and I realized how blessed I am to follow the steps of our ancestors. I am French citizen with Caribbean background. My father's side is from Guadeloupe Island, French West Indies. I just stepped out of Lima, Peru, 2 weeks ago. After 6 months road trip in Peru. I learned so much....Right now at Panama city. I am about to come and visit Portobello. Very insightful video. ❤

Hello and thank you for showing the town where I grew up. I live in Portland OR now but I definitely appreciate when I see new videos of Portobelo. It has changed so much. I wish it would have stayed like it was before, plain and simple. Now, it looks like is has modernized. Anyhow, THANKS A BUNCH!

Great! Well done😊 I appreciate your honesty, and your appreciation of the rich Afropanamanian culture that Portobelo is pretty much the center for. There are some great books that focus on the lesser-known history of Panamá, mostly Black history, which is so important and not usually told in as much detail as other histories.

Thank you! I have so much to learn, but at least we may look at this history from this side of our planet

It was interesting to listen to this after your Madrid tour. I wonder what would have happened if Columbus hadn't made it across the Atlantic, and he wasn't entirely sure where he was anyway.
I was with you in Panama, but I think I missed the day you went to Portobello.
Thanks for all the tours - love them - Susan

So interesting!! Had no idea that about Sir Frances Drake died in Panama. Wow. Did not realise all the connections to other countries and aspects of history. It's been fascinating to see Panama.

Hi! Sorry to respond so late. I’ve been a few times, always driving. About 2.5 hours from the capital
