    As a follow up to my video from last year here is a more detailed/technical explanation of the different print technologies when it comes to photos, prints and photo books. I'm also going to answer some of the most common questions like: "What's the best quality print?", "Which will last the longest?", "Which prints are eco friendly?" and "Is expensive always better?"

    Your video was extremely informative. Thank you. Can you list some photobook publishers that use the high quality ink jet printing? I know Mpix does, but only (I believe) in their lay-flat books, which are limited to 100 pages.

    Thank you. Very well explained. Can you possibly advise as to which type of printing is best for portrait and landscape photographic prints for sale as artwork and for exhibitions? Thank you

      If it's smaller prints, up to 16x12" I would suggest silver halide. But for bigger exhibition prints, inkjet is your best option

    What about dye sublimation thermal transfer printers like those used at malls for Easter and Christmas? Machine from Citizen/DNP, Fuji, etc? Where rolls of paper are used with rolls of colored ribbons. The ribbons often only have CMY which are combined to make a composite black, they may have a gloss or matte finish option as well. I've worked with the DS40 and DS 80 from DNP. Their machines print at 300 dpi with newer models printing at 600x300 dpi or lower. This is how they make their claims for fast prints. But Citizen makes the printers for DNP. Citizen's machines can print at 600x600 dpi. So my question is how can these be used to make photo books? Or would you even consider them for that use?

    Hi, one question, is silver halide with a uv varnish better for longevity or is better not to ask for varnishing....?

    • @PhotoBookGuru
      @PhotoBookGuru  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the UV filter does make a difference, however photo books are less prone to UV damage since you keep them closed on a shelf as opposed a photo in a frame in the window

    • @PhotoBookGuru
      @PhotoBookGuru  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      silver halide and inkjet are great with colour, I would say inkjet is sharper but it depends on printers and settings. canon dreamlabo is usually the best one

    Nice summation. I did scratch my head about the vegan comment though. Why on earth would that be a consideration, really?

    • @PhotoBookGuru
      @PhotoBookGuru  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      more and more people are vegan and they are very particular about what they buy, even photos

  • @cali4tune
