I found it interesting to point out that it is difficult when there is so much waste in everyday foods we buy. I have a family of 5, and buying food at our nearest grocery store is just realistic and more cost efficient. It really needs to be pushed upon the companies to reduce their packaging. I also use reusable produce and grocery bags. I try progress, not perfection in making changes in my life to use more reusable products, and producing less waste. 💜
I have been using the face pads too. I keep the dirty ones in the tiny mesh bag but wash them in a mesh laundry bag that zips closed. That way they don’t get loose in the washer or dryer.
"The brand hannah" period panties!!!!!! They FIT... AND they have a back zone unlike other gimmicky brands! PLUS... They ACTUALLY can get a heavy bleeder through the night!! They might not work as a standalone for post partum, but they surely would work well with the post partum reusable pad!
Here’s a list of eco-friendly products in my household I think worth checking out: BlueLand (hand soap, & household cleaners - you can compost or return the packaging for them to compost), Clean Cult (hand soap & household cleaners - you can return the packaging for them to recycle if you can’t), PlaineProducts (shampoo, lotions, etc), TruEarth (laundry strips & misc products), Dropps dish pods work great for me (hope you try again), Hey Human, Stasher bags, silicone baking mats &muffin cups, Native Co. deodorant, If You Care compostable parchment paper, post-consumer plastic trash bags, Pela compostable phone case, swag bag, ecojarz, Bippy and Cloud Paper TPs, and more. I hope you find this helpful. Good job on trying more sustainable versions of the things you use.
Lovely video! We love our robo vac! We have had it for about 9 months and it has changed my life!!! I also use un-paper towel and love it! I don’t use the roll though, I fold them in half and keep them in a wooden caddy on the bench. Have a great day!
I love that you tried a few eco friendly products! I use a hand held sprayer as a bidet option and accompany it with “toilet unpaper roll” from marleys monsters to dry. They have a ton of eco friendly products as well. Good luck on your journey!
Nice video! I use the laundry strips and they work great for us too. Imagine all the packaging that wouldn’t be needed if all companies did this. I found the best eco friendly mouthwash, Elementa Silver, last year. It is a bit pricey but they sell bulk refills and I absolutely love it. It is also packaged in aluminum reusable bottles.
I use bidet too in all the bathrooms in our house except guest powder room. I am from Indian origin so it wasn’t that difficult to get adjusted to using water to clean your dirty business. But like you mentioned the drying part was tricky but I keep something called as quick dry pee clothes that I already had with me which I use during hiking and camping. I just use a sticky hook to hang them. They are for multiple use. I just wash them every night and hang it back in the hook to dry which is ready to use next morning. I also have couple of spare ones just in case they don’t dry well or I forget to wash.
You can makemy9urmown dishwasher pods. I have donen that with most 9f my cleaners. For swifter, I make my own cleaners. I have chemical sensitivity, I drilled a wholesale the top of the wet jet cleaner. Make my own cleaner and use a bottle topper to close the whole. I also have bamboo paper towel and toilet paper. I had my intestine surgery. Many people in my support groups use bidets. I am looking for a warm water one for my sensitivity.
I started using the wool dryer balls and love them. They aren’t waxy like dryer sheets, they seem to make my towels and sheets dry faster, and I add some essential oils to them for a light fragrance. Static is also gone!
Thanks for your honest opinions on these products. I have made many eco friendly switches in the last year. You may like the company Blueland. I have a subscription for their dishwasher tabs. They are plastic free and work great in my dishwasher (Bosch). They also have very nice refillable glass hand soap bottles with tabs that dissolve and smell wonderful. I'm not a fan of their dishwashing soap because it is a powder and it "poofs" into the air and makes me sneeze, so i am going to look into the Grove product.
A little tip to remove the menstrual cup staining is to soak it in hydrogen peroxide. Mine is purple and it still gets stained, but a soak in some peroxide for a couple hours when the cycle is done and it's all gone.
Using a small brush, like a toothbrush, can really help too with cleaning before boiling. (Obviously, if using a toothbrush to clean it, it should be used exclusively for that.)
You should check out bamboo reusable paper towels. I use them and just wash when they are dirty and turn them into rags after they no longer look clean
I buy floor swifter from Dollar Tree has a velcro attaches to the swift pole sold at dollar tree in the broom section i bought about 10 so i use to wash my floor and apply my spray cleaner on wooden floor and to sweep my floors you detach and wash in your machine i let dry the best i invest
It definitely can take a little trial and error to make more eco-friendly choices. If you have a bulk food store nearby, It's a great way to cut back on grocery waste. I bought a case of large mason jars a few years ago and they work great for pasta, cereals, oatmeal etc. I'm still on the hunt for a no-waste dish soap so for the meantime, I just buy the large jug which tends to last me just about a year.
I'm not convinced that a whole robot vacuum is really less of an impact than just a reusable pad on the Swiffer you already had. Seems like those things don't have a lot of longevity and think of all the resources that went into developing it. Idk.. I'd personally love one, just thoughts I'm having.
Nice video! The brush looks great👍👍. I love my all natural loofah bathing sponge, I have it for years and it still works. Regular bath scrubbers, even the ones made of recycled plastic, are a source of microplastic, so I would not recommend them. Also the feeling of a natural material like loofah or sisal on your skin is different 👌 as for the toilet situation, why not use small towels to dry? This might be an eco friendly solution.
The dishwasher in this video was a Whirlpool. My new one is a Kitchenaid and actually has a third rack to use for silverware and spatulas (which we love as well)
They sell those non paper towels and many sites on Etsy. Lol always makes me smile when I see Americans discovering a bidet when they have used them in Europe for decades!!
Lol. Just use cloth napkins ( like your kitchen towel) to wipe off instead of toilet paper after you have washed with water! Then drop them in a basket near you. They r clean enough to put them in the laundry once basket is full..
@@MiaDanielle 🤣 just say him, there r countries where he will not find any toilet paper in the bathroom! Only a jet spray.. now he has to use some cloth 😖 Toilet paper is a cultural thing!!
I'm sure it depends on the pods you get but it looks like you can get the strips for $13 when you subscribe to have them delivered. That covers 32 loads.
But don’t throw out your current sponges or laundry sheets or whatever reusable swap your making use what you have first then when it’s used replace it with the reusable one also a good rule is to go without bc you’ll be surprised of all the things we buy that we don’t actually need

So true! It does bother me that the packaging is still so difficult to work around

That's a good idea

Thanks for sharing!! I saw Marley's Monsters but they were a bit pricey for my trial run. I might end up trying them at some point though :)

I totally agree! Why don't all of the companies do this 🤷♀️. Thanks for the mouthwash recommendation!

I've heard great things about them. Do they make much noise?
@@MiaDanielle not really…every now and then I’ll hear something, but generally nothing.
This is a super helpful video! Thank you!
Awesome!
Mia, my family uses cloth toilet paper. and we just dry off/wipe with that. I wash them and we reuse. We have real toilet paper for guests.

I really enjoyed this video. Learned a lot. I found Grove about a year ago and have slowly started making more eco-friendly changes.
Wonderful!
I love the dish soap and hand soap from Grove!!!

Excellent video. Thank for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Microfiber washcloth to dry off when using a bidet. We just drop ours in a small waste basket next to toilet. Oh and they are soo soft.
I've got to try this!
I haven't tried it, but this was what I was going to recommend - microfiber cloth
Great video! Very useful. Blueland dishwasher tablets work really well in my dishwasher which is at least 20 years old.

Thanks for the ideas! I've also looked into the dish soap bars which seems like a pretty low waste option as well :)
@@MiaDanielle Oh, I didn't know there was such a thing. I'll have to track one down to try. :)

I jus found your channel and this was my first video. I’m doing the same…using up old items and replacing with eco friendly, zero waste items.
That's awesome!
Have you seen the Vileda spray mop? Like a swiffer but with washable cloths and a refillable cleaner container.
I use that type of mop but mine is a Libman spray mop. Have used for over a decade with my cleaning business.
I haven't seen that particular brand but I have seen some like it that looked pretty cool. That's exactly what I was originally researching :)
Oh, that's awesome! Love advice from a person with a cleaning biz :)
I just use a washable pad on my swiffer and a separate spray bottle, I like to do it this way so that I can get under and around everything well.

That was my thought. It might be a stretch for anyone else in the household but I'm working on it! I use a dry brush that I really enjoy
Marley’s monsters has amazing “un” paper towels
I've heard this recently!
Tips: Wear gloves when washing your part after number #2 using water and antibacterial soap in the toilet 🚽. It is more hygienic.
Hi, love your dishwasher with the cutlery in the door. Wich brand is is, is your new washer the same type? TIA greetings from Germany

I know! We must look so silly over here trying to get comfortable with bidets 😂
Lol. Just use cloth napkins ( like your kitchen towel) to wipe off instead of toilet paper after you have washed with water! Then drop them in a basket near you. They r clean enough to put them in the laundry once basket is full..
That's what I said to Matt and he looked at me like I had lost my mind! 😂

What about the price difference on the True Earth/Tide pods?
I'm sure it depends on the pods you get but it looks like you can get the strips for $13 when you subscribe to have them delivered. That covers 32 loads.
Nice video! Maybe you could try to decrease food waste for 30 days and show the results? Quite a few could use some help with that.
We've talked about that recently and it's definitely something I've been much more mindful of although we haven't tried composting yet :)
How weird about the paper towel situation!
Yeah!
Why zerowaste should start with shopping?
Sometimes in order to use/waste less, you have to replace what you're currently using with something better (more sustainable).
But don’t throw out your current sponges or laundry sheets or whatever reusable swap your making use what you have first then when it’s used replace it with the reusable one also a good rule is to go without bc you’ll be surprised of all the things we buy that we don’t actually need
Just work on replacing things as needed with more sustainable options! The most sustainable choice is using what you have
What is the toilet thing? You speak to fast, i cannot get the name for it.
I think you mean the bidet attachment. The one she got is linked in the description box.
The bidet is made by LUXE :)
