I've used an Earth Ride since 1992 and I've never wanted another ride cymbal. I love it. Sharp and penetrating for high volume situations, big bell sound, lovely wash when you use the flat of the stick. It's the core of my sound now.
Ehhh, here we go, I get in trouble, lol. I started out learning Krupa/Rich jazz & have an 18"med old Intermediate stamp k zildjian ride & same type 15" crash. My 26" A zildjian sounds more like a K as it's lower warm tone. The earth ride sounds like it could be used for both jazz & rock but I don't have one now I'm adding it to my never ending list of cymbals to get. I just got a Z power ride 20" and definitely a rock/metal cymbal. I believe I could mix it in with an A zildjian platinum I have. I guess what I have is an obsessive compulsive disorder with cymbals, so I buy them all. You got me sold on that earth ride now my wife will show me a new Jean's & shirt from Macy's if I get it, lol. She's already hit me for buying two 20" pre serial formula 602 Paiste rides. She doesn't understand what we drummers already know, lol. Great job on the skins mister, sounds good. Oh, what kind of china are you using? Thanks a lot for the comparison and keep swinging Bro.
Thanks! I really understand you) After buying another one cymbal I always have in my head smth like 'OK! Now that's enough! But...wait... What's this? Wow! What a beautiful ride!'😄 This is 18" Zildjian Oriental classic china.
I like the Earth Ride a little better than the Mega Bell, but they are both great cymbals. I personally own an Earth Ride even though I'm mainly a jazz guy, and I wish they still made them :)
The 22" Earth ride is a pig. Make no mistake about it. Loud as the dickins...ugly, unlathed, and a flat edge the thickness of a silver dollar. Heavy like no other. And...don't even think you can cover up an error with 'wash'...everyone will hear it! Also, stick tips, materials, lengths and (brushes) so forth, really show their colors like no other cymbal allows. Discovered the E R in '82 as I was mesmerized by the sound of a drummer in a club band. I have played similar style cymbals, but the E R is tops. I do however have 3 other rides...the E R is specific for a job, and is always on my kit with other rides.

Have that same Z Custom. It’s such a great ride for metal.
