  • AMORETTO RAE SERRANO, IRIS LAMERS, AND WENDY RINCON PERFORMED IN THIS VIDEO. WE WERE MISSING CARMEN PADILLA DUE TO FLIGHT DELAY. During this time, these were the girls chosen to perform with me.
This is the TV show HIT PARADE in Puerto Rico, July 1987. The singer of the record "Clave Rocks" is Jeannette De Jesus, but she could not tour with us. In this video, Iris Lamers and Wendy Rincon performed along side (Mr. Amoretto). We were short by one member (Carmen Padilla) due to technical difficulties beyond our control (airplane delay) so we went on.....
People have always thought that the "Amoretto" name referred to a girl group. That was not the intended concept. I am on the cover of the record sleeve, on all flyers and photo shoots in the center, surrounded by girls that I hired because I wanted to give an overall sexy image to the project "Amoretto" as a whole. The girls on the cover were not the recorded on the record. The record company listed the girls as background vocalist on the record. PKO was a new record company and Clave Rocks was their first record project. So they made plenty of mistakes in the administrative part of the cover and production. Jeanette's name was listed inaccurately as well. Her name was listed as Janet Martinez. "Amoretto" has always been my alter Ego, its the name I chose to use when ever I made this kind of music. I'm an Artist, song writer & record Producer. I have been involved with so many different kinds of music in my life. Hip hop, House, R&B, pop, and latin rock. "Amoretto" means, My little loved one and this project in particular became my favorite project. Jeanette De Jesus is an incredible vocalist. She never wanted to perform with other vocalist. I didn't know that when we were recording her vocals. But what I wanted to do was to produce music where I can have other Artist perform with me like the artist/producer "Yanni" or John Tesh. It is there because I chose all the elements and people that are on this song. I am and will always be Amoretto Rae Serrano aka Mr. Amoretto. That is why there is so much confusion about who "Amoretto" is. The fact is that Amoretto's flavor of music is a special kind of music and a lot of people out there wish to take it away from me, by confusing my original intent. It's a music about the experiences in my life, my background and no one can take credit for that but me. Amoretto Rae Serrano will always be attached to the show and I will always be there whether I am or not on stage performing, just like I did in the beginning. This was the beauty of it....Peace!......Rock!........................Amoretto Rae Serrano
    IT IS MY PROJECT!!

Wow! I loved this song back in the 80's. Funny that you mention Chess King. I was a frequent shopper at the Chess King location on 86th Street in Brooklyn during that period. Remember Cavaricci's? I think that brand took up most of my wardrobe. I haven't given any thought to these things in 20+ years!

I totally hear you! I was a junior/senior in high school in 86-88 and used to shop at Chess King all the time (in Massachusetts). I bought some crazy outfits back then, for sure. Lots of neon!!!

That the way they did in the TV stations in those days. Somewhat like Soul Train....they did the same.
