I have just bought one after deliberating on the price for 6 months. But after 10 mins I was blown away. I have tried loads of distortion,OD pedals and like Simon never quite found "that sound" in my head from the song of my youth, but now I have. It's worth it!
For those who complain about the price. Take a quick look at the kinds of prices classical musicians have to pay for their instruments. Us guitarists are very lucky.
I’ve had mine (the deluxe w/footswitch) for over a year now and I still come back to this series of videos cause I’m always discovering new tones with the most minuet adjustments!
I finished the videos ... wow! What great sounds! I woke up at 4:30 AM US time to make sure I got one, and I'm glad I did! Not only did I learn more about the pedal, I learned a ton about amps! Thanks!!!
I bought one of the original Cali76 big box custom inductor coupled parallel compressors and it's never been off my board since it came out of its box. I think I'll give this new drive a try too.
My inspirations, after Berry and Eddy, were Allman Brothers at the Fillmore, Taste at the IOW, Gary Moore at Montreux 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 I’m looking forward to hearing it sing through my non-master Marshall & Boogie cranked ! Yes I’m never below noon 👂🏻🧠
Following our phone call last week, we held off collecting your pedal until we were ready to mod it, to allow you more time with your pedal. We confirmed that we will mod your pedal and return it the same day. We have since contacted you to arrange an appropriate time to collect it. Your pedal was the first that we shipped and the switcher mod was discovered the next day. Our focus is on customer satisfaction coupled with the best possible design.
Glad you guys went back to BIG format for this one. I know a lot of people wanted compact. But some of us want a spaceship attached to our boards. You could even go bigger next time. kthx.
@@bertagriese8282 it's because TPS were biased, Mick works for Victory Amps. And Victory released tube preamps, just think about it. In my opinion nothing beats the RevivalDRIVE
@@ozeanskye4899 Mick pretended like it just too hard to understand. He can play the guitar, but can't figure out what the switches and knobs do on a pedal. Just too stupid I guess.
Send one to Mike Herman's! He has the improv chops to really play it. Amazing pedal even though there has never even been studio grade rack unit at any cost that can do all this. Revolutionary product design, Simon, experienced professional players are going to love this. I am having anxiety issues waiting on mine.
Hi guys, I have the revivaldrive hotrod custom with additional footswitch. I'm building a small pedalboard and I need your suggestion. How would you set up RD hotrod custom to work flawlessly with the HX Stomp?? Thanks guys.
Hi there, great to hear you have a RevivalDRIVE Hot Rod! If you intend on using a cabinet simulator or IR in the HX Stomp, we'd recommend using the RevivalDRIVE in P/AMP mode. This will give you a flat response output from the RevivalDRIVE so that it can be paired with your preferred speaker simulation! This makes for a great direct rig! If you need any further information, please feel free to contact our support team: support@origineffects.com
Hi Don! Thanks for your comment. Great idea, we will look into this. We have had great feedback from people that use power amps and cleaner amps like the Roland Jazz Chorus. I would recommend finding your nearest Origin Effects dealer and trying one out with your amp!
i use it with solid state amps and acoustic amps along with a cab IR sim. if you are running through a full range speaker system you can simply put an EQ after it with some sort of low pass filter to emulate a speaker cab, too.
Origin Effects by the way, having one of these in person and playing it, is quite an experience. There’s no TH-cam video that can really do it justice. I do not want to quit playing it.
Do you have (or are you planning) a video about how you would run or recommend stacking the revivaldrive (compact or standard) with other pedals? Especially with additional gain stages (clean boosts, transparent ODs, TS-type circuits, ODs, distortions, fuzz)?
i would imagine that typically other OD's and especially TS's would go before this type of pedal to drive it further and give your tone more chunk. Clean boosts definitely goes before this pedal as well as compressors, but there is no rule. You can do whatever you want if you wanna sound differnent. Fuzz generally doesn't play well with other high gain distortion pedals like this but can be used subtly together with low gain settings.
I got me one coming and it will be here Tuesday this is February also simon but I would like to know other than the foot switch what does slide rig compliment this pedal also cuz I plan on getting one of them to real soon thanks
We recommend running the SlideRIG in front of the RevivaldRIVE just like if it was running into an amp. It offers a lot of sustain so is great for this or for pushing the front of the RD for a compressed solo tone.
I'd LOVE YOU to create something special, truly needed for musicians who'd love to have great tone and not hurting their backs (and wallets): what about a state of the art pedal amp?. Since 2014's Bluguitar Amp1, there's been quite a change in the scene. Now Milkman fellows are about to release 'The Amp', but that one is really limited in functions and options, especially compared to Bluguitar. I KNOW you can do better (perhaps you've heard about Hypex Electronics). Really hope it could be true. Thank you!
We've been using it to fulfil the role of a traditional amp at some gigs and jams by running it into a flat response poweramp (we're using the RevivalDRIVE like that here: th-cam.com/video/TbocQy6h0vk/w-d-xo.htmlm1s). Some poweramps are small enough to fit under pedalboards so combined with the RevivalDRIVE you get an amp-pedal which includes many other features.
Excuse my ignorance here but could this, for example be used without an amp/modeller and just be recorded direct to a DAW (via an interface/soundcard of course)? Or, does one need an amp modeller (eg Strymon Iridium) or IR loader (eg, Two Notes CabM+) in between? My confusion is that it is called a “drive” but it is talked anout like a complete amp in a box. Appreciate if you could clear that up.
@@OriginEffectsUK Thanks for clearing that up. I assume the same applied to the OE Magma 57 then. I’m not sure, but wouldn’t both cases result in a ”thinner” sound than using either of them in front of an amp/amp modeller?
@@jemandthemysteryThe MAGMA57 is the same, it can be used direct into a DAW running an iR. Ultimately it just depends on what you're looking for an how you're using gear. There is no reason it should sound any thinner. (especially with the MAGMA57 which has more low-end). An amp more modeller just gives you more opportunities to increase lower frequencies between the pedal and a microphone.
Only thing that possibly be better is if they had a way to change the channels with an external switcher (GRigRig, RJM, Boss ES* etc. ) ! Hint hint . .
Hey, Dave! As you may have seen, we have implemented this change last minute. Every RevivalDRIVE will now include the ability to switch its channel remotely from a switcher via our Switcher Interface box. You read more about it on our blog: origineffects.com/2018/05/18/revivaldrive-remote-switcher/
I just got the custom model with the foot switch. I’m running it through the front of my Mini Jubilee 2525h with the matching 2x12 cab (which I also just got). I’ve got a lot of learning to do on my new gear! I know I can run it through the efx loop as well but I like the idea of having those pre-amp tubes as well. Any advice on how to get it set-up properly for my particular amp?
Just got one myself. And I like high gain. I’m perfectly happy with my amp. But it enhances it. So I can get clean, gain and high gain with my amp. With the pedal I set it up with a slight crunch on my ch2 and I have a pretty high gain with all the enhancements Simon has put in the pedal. So now regular distortion pedals sound kind’ve weak.
Sorry guys. 675? I get that you put work into it but if you sold it for 349 it would probably sell more.. BUT almost 700? Pickups and amp settings get your sound.. not distorted wiring...
Nice, but a shame about the price, as this puts it out of reach for most guitarists at an average price of £500 a pop (GAK £459, Thomann £511 for example). I could buy a car for less money. Not to mention you can get a 100 watt Marshall modelling amp for £277 (Dawsons) and get whatever sound you want or even go for the 50 watt at £50 cheaper. The Vox and Blackstar offerings comer in cheaper too.
Chris, what you say is factually true, but to my mind this blows all modelling amps out of the water in its responsiveness. A lot of them are very clever but if you spend a while with a modelling amp and a real amp most people would get more of a feeling of wanting to keep playing with the real amp. Certainly if I sit down with my Deluxe Reverb Custom 68 for "half an hour" I usually find that 2 or 3 hours have passed - not so with any digital amp I've tried. This is the first gadget that seems to have that real amp feel. On the price subject; yes it's very expensive, but it would only be like buying a fairly classy extra guitar :) and if I buy one, I shall probably end up selling several pedals which will become redundant. Why would I want it if I like my '68 DR? Firstly because I can only turn the amp reasonably loud at gigs and it needs a bit of volume before it really takes off. Secondly because, being an old fogey of 66, I can imagine feeling drawn to the idea of a Revival Drive and a pedalboard power amp as my lightweight "amp" in a few years time when I'm even less youthful.
I have just bought one after deliberating on the price for 6 months. But after 10 mins I was blown away. I have tried loads of distortion,OD pedals and like Simon never quite found "that sound" in my head from the song of my youth, but now I have. It's worth it!

Or even the price of a vintage amp in good condition, which wouldn't have the reliability of the revival drive.
