mam, I think frequency depends on the source and as wavelength changes colour of light. when we are using a filter the wavelength of light falling on the metal plate would change rather than the frequency .thank you mam for a very nice explanation.
The way each light has a different wavelength similarly each light has a different frequency too! You can also do the experiment considering wavelength but in that case E= hc/lamda you will have to use.

That would imply the speed of light is varying if the freq is fixed but the wavelength changes
