I mostly agree with Rachel but she is an overwhelmingly terrible debater. From the first second she tries to frame her opinion as ‘science.’ She makes a deeply unfair and cynical comparison with birtherism, which Cenk is quite fairly unhappy with, but then snaps at him hard for interrupting. She then proceeds to interrupt constantly.
Lastly, the never ending appeal to authority fallacies only its even worse because she is referring to herself as the authority. ‘I wrote a book, an academic book.’

Literally the same situation, former president Cleveland loses reelection barely, comes back in four years and defeats the guy he lost re-election to. This HAS happened before. How does a presidential scholar not know this? She’s making appeals to her study and research, but it seems to be fundamentally flawed if she can’t pick this out.

I was trying to give her grace on that topic in that she may have been speaking to polling numbers. But that was a credibility gap for sure.
This is such a depressing watch. I’m British, I’ve no skin in the game (no more than any other citizen of the world) but it seemed obvious years ago that Biden was a one-term President. A good one-term President, one that would go down in history for beating Trump, but one that also needed to tee up a replacement. The Dems needed to be grooming a few potential candidates for 2024, giving them media training, gaming lines against Trump, preparing the ground game etc etc. What seems to have happened instead is that the Dem machine has been running almost in sleep mode and assumed Biden will run again. As an outsider Biden seems like a good man, most of the world would probably agree and would definitely prefer him to Trump. His cognitive decline has been obvious for some time though, and that need to line up replacements, so obvious years ago, is now urgent and pressing and critical and immediate. I can’t say for definite Biden will lose to Trump, but he certainly is too risky. Get someone like Gavin Newsome up there on a debate stage and he’ll eviscerate Trump and storm the election, because I suspect people really want someone without dementia that they can vote for. This debate though, with all its ego and theory and self-promotion, it’s emblematic of the quagmire the Democratic Party and the left generally appears to be in. They’re too close to it all. Take a step back and it’s obvious Biden needs replacing. They’re gonna be too slow to do it though and either miss their chance or botch it.

@@krisquigley4497 I think the problem lies in Biden's choice of Kamala Harris as VP. She was picked because she checked boxes, but the unfortunate fact is that she just doesn't connect well with people on a national level. She just doesn't have that "it" factor that successful politicians need. It became clear early on that she was a dud as a VP and the administration sidelined her. The VP is the person groomed to be the successor to the President. If Biden had picked a dynamic and popular VP, then I think he would have stepped aside for 2024. With Harris as the successor, he felt he needed to run. I actually think that Biden has a better chance than Harris. He needs to tighten it up for the next four months and put in a respectable showing in the next debate to calm people's concerns. The democrats need to pound on Trump. The battle is not over yet.

As someone from Germany, i fear that this election will also have massive implications for Europe and the entire West. If Trump actually manages to dissolve NATO, we are in big trouble. Same with immediately stopping all aid for Ukraine. Trumps foreign policy is playing directly in Putins hands. If you would ask me which president is more likely to cause WW3, i'm going to go with Trump 9 out of 10 times. This alone makes him far more dangerous in my estimation, completely independant of his domestic policy. But i would also rather not have the most powerful country in the West be an authoritarian dictatorship. I really don't know what the best plan of action is, but i hope that the Democrats get their shit together. We are basically watching 1933 2.0 unfold in front of our eyes.
