thugby thucking yawnion.....
I have the Pocket 2, and while the Pocket 3 has slightly better DR and low light, its not yet enough for me to upgrade. For now, the Pocket 2 still serves my purpose. I just share my videos to youtube anyway right now, so I won't be able to share the benefits as much. I'll wait for the Pocket 4 or 5, that way I can get my use out of the Pocket 2.
What is your channel???
Now if I plan on shooting only IG reels or YT reels with it… would the 3 be more fitting for vertical mode?
Looking at both of these and that price difference is huge now. Tough call
Great comparison. I'll definitely do the upgrade. I have the Pocket 2, but really don't use it that much. It's a great camera, but the low light capacity of the 2, causes it not to be used. I want to shoot tids and bits of our everyday life, seeing the kids grow up etc. And with most of our everyday life revolving indoor activity, the step up on that on the 3 makes it a no brainer for me.
By the way. - I don't usually comment on things like this. - But Matt, you really look good and healthy. Well done.
Cheers
Good review, pocket 3 image looks leagues better for me but the 2 has the pocketability advantage for sure.
It looks like the idea solution to mobile vloging, one device without the compromise of a camera. Then have a real camera to do the stills stuff.
You know ive been thinking of my ultimate lightweight fully capable kit [being the gear nerds we camera people are] and i think the dji action 4, mini 4 pro, pocket 3 and something like a Fuji XT5 could cover any and all bases pretty well. That would be my perfect set up anyways
@@El-ahrairah-lc3tg for me a big, chunky stils camera, such as my old Nikon Full frame D810 and a small selection of glass along with the osmo 3 would be in my travel bag.
I'm much more into stills but a video device like this would be great for street use.
I have an original Pocket and it has been a game changer for me, for what I do, which is mainly videos of my Partners traditional dance group at various locations.
I have various other cameras, a Nikon Z6, an Olympus MI ii and a Panasonic camcorder, but the Pocket is my go to, it's 4K is more than good enough for TH-cam which is what is used to share the video amongst the girls, and it's portability, stability and the ability to throw it on an extension pole to get clear pictures over a crowd of people is unmatched.
Low light and the lack of zoom are it's bad points, but then I'll use the Nikon or the camcorder, but then I've got to use a tripod and find a decent spot etc.
The Pocket 3, with it's improvements is a no brainer, if DJI made a version of this that sits in the middle between the 'Pocket' and the 'Ronin 4' , with a built in gimbal, a M43 sensor and small interchangeable lenses, they'd wipe the competition off the floor.
I waited years for this product to come out only to see no real reason to upgrade. The P3 footage is just way too similar to P2 in well-lit daylight scenarios. I was hoping the one-inch sensor would bring in closer to a DSLR look, but it is still just a smartphone alternative.
Super helpful, exactly what I wanted to see in a comparison, and footage! Legend. Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
The 3 has better DR, which really shows in the tougher light conditions, and resolves more detail. They both lost the track in the tracking test. The 3 is clearly crisper and cleaner in lowlight.
But then you can pick up a used good condition 2 for $100-130, while a 3 costs $500.
I’m in the market for both - but the 2 is so cheap right now with the whole creator bundle included - found one for $250 - $400 less than the 3 - now I’m asking is this worth a 400 upgrade
My thoughts exactly I’m just starting to get into vloging do I really need the latest version
I'm on the same boat here, what did you guys decide on?
@@waintariq I got the 2 and it’s a great device I don’t need the 3 - I got the creator combo 2
@@waintariq I have videos on my page that was recorded with it
The perfect review video for me I’m thinking of getting one of these and can’t decide between the pocket two or the pocket three, so this is brilliant, thank you 🙏
Don’t take it to play soccer…
@@mattgranger so buy the care package then LOL
I like you didn’t edit out your shot on goal but used it to test the DJI care program, good on you….
I've been using the Sony FDR X3000 & a series of GoPro, but might consider the Osmo Pocket 2/3 just cause it's so lowkey and practical
I'm going on a 6 week long trip next year to south korea and Japan and wanting to get a decent camera to keep a record of my time there. I've never really recorded like that before so I'm pretty settled on getting a dji pocket because I love how discrete and portable it is. I do absolutely love the new design and upgrades of the pocket 3, but I can't afford it unfortunately so I'm looking to pick up a pocket 2 on ebay if I can. Thank you for the great video though! I do still love the footage of the pocket 2 :)
pocket 2 has a more cinematic vintage vibe look imo but the features of the 3 and improvements do make a difference
Hi Matt, thank you for this review. I wonder, would it be worth doing Osmo 1,2,3 side by side footage please?
I still love my Osmo pocket 1
Haha. No, I’m not making another review on this subject. Enjoy your 1
Thanks for the comprehensive review. Well done. One question: How would the Pocket 3, 4K video look on a wide screen TV, (a) very good, (b) ok, or (c) don't bother?
All my questions were answered. Thank you.
Glad I could help!
I have been thinking about getting this, nice review!
I have the original osmo (pre picket). No screen use your phone as viewfinder and control and horrible compression. Pocket 3 might be good.
I just bought a GoPro hero 12 and I love it. I was considering getting a gimbal, but the pocket 2 can be had now for about twice the price of the gimbal. Any thoughts on whether you think the pocket 2 is worth it in 2024? It’s under $300 now and readily available. I’m mostly going to use it alongside my hero 12, but for lower light conditions. I know the pocket three has great low light capability, but it looks like the pocket two is no slouch in low light. I would love your thoughts. Do you think it’s worth it in 2024 since it’s under $300 now?
Both are good👍🏼 but if really need to choose, P3 wins it all esp. in low light😂 In fact P2 price ain’t cheap too, I would rather spend a little more to get P3 CC instead. Actually I had both & wanting to sell away P2 but at the same time, after seeing you putting them side-by-side makes me unwilling to do it so😅 they looked just like mother & child or siblings, like a older sister with a younger sister or brother😂 so cute🤣🥰 think I would just keep P2 for now for home use together with my Sony zv1f and P3 for outdoor & travel😁
ya same here. Once he did side by side during daylight, i realize my p2 is still good enough except for night. It can do 4k 30 and 4k 60. So why not keep it and maybe use both for different angles.
I was Waiting for osmo 3 so I could get 2 much cheaper. I got it for £150 osmo 2 on eBay. Including do it all handle. Worth every penny. Plus all my videos are uploaded on social media so I don’t really need 4K. Osmo 2 is still much better than many cameras out there.
Great! Congrats
From what I see, I'm not convinced about paying double, what do you think?
What city are you in? I have never seen this cool place before.
Hong Kong
At twice the price 22k to 45k (Philippine peso) it is not twice the camera, the 2 does agreat job, Mt Granger forgot to point out that the 2 can connect to a mobile giving you a bigger view, ok its messy compared to the three but I will be buying a 2, great value and great picures, small footprint wonderful for street, people do not realise what you are doing, horses for courses, the 3 if you just have to havee the best, but the 2 is very close and the extra money jingles in my pocket!!!
Great review! Thank you!
I just dont understand why the Pocket 3 doesnt have an underwater case but the pocket 2 does??
8:28 Low light testrecorded in auto mode or Pro?
worth watching Video...
I’ll meet my wife tomorrow in Hawaii to see the picket 3 she bought me for the first time, as well as freewell filter bundle.
How much of Iceland will be left after the volcano slows down. It's such a beautiful location.
The current one - it may damage some infrastructure, but relatively little. It's not that kind of eruption.
it is just a low light beast
Why do I like the Pocket 2 more?
🤷
what nikon camera and lens are you using
Very fun review.
Matt, why wouldn’t you use a good phone camera to do what you are doing with this?
Stabilization, tracking, mic receiver, optical zoom, log, higher bit rate.
The largest differences I see in the image quality between the Pocket 2 and 3 are the low light capability and the dynamic range. Can you answer a question please. I read elsewhere that in normal color mode (not HLG or D-LOG), if you're not set to h264 the Pocket 3 shoots in 10-bit. Can you confirm? Thank you. I always enjoy watching your reviews.
is colorgraded built in feature ?
What settings would you recommend with the pocket 2 if you were just doing a walking tour? I just bought the pocket 2 and can't seem to find the right settings. I'm wondering if getting the 3 is worth it or I just have it in the wrong settings. 😕
1080,60fps is enough
Can u use a wireless mic like the rode clip on mic?
I think only DJI brand mic
i only use pocket 2 for time lapse. hardly use it for video
So, a 2 inch screne is huge?
Is that what I said?
Nice. Subbed.
the biggest difference- lowlight capability
So basically it sucks as a goalkeeper. 😁
Goal 😂😂
Good vid Matt. I don't have one of these guys, I ended up getting the Insta360 iPhone gimbal thing, it works ok... Great kick, great goal, that Beckham doco was good I thought!
Have the 2 for a long time and love it because it’s really small. We can see the 3 got a better image quality but for me overall not enough reasons to get the new version. Nice review Matt.
Pocket 3 made you looks skinnier.
I like you didn’t edit out your shot on goal but used it to test the DJI care program, good on you….
