I was wading a tiny creek once when I came up to a fair-sized pool. I cast a white 1/8 oz Abu Reflex to the far side of the pond and started my retrieve. I saw a big V-shaped wake heading towards my lure. Even though I was fishing with #4 test line, I was able to land an 18-inch largemouth. That was great fun on ultra-light gear.
I use my XJ all the time. Got it for Fathers Day. Great for those hard to reach places that I deal with. Love those pan fish fights with this light setup.
I recently bought a Lew's Carbon Fire speed stick, 6' 9" medium light spinning, $48.99. Paired it with a old Shimano 4000 Sahara reel and the balance is perfect. I'm really enjoying this set up.
I brought the same 6’ for $49.99. Love it and got another one a week after. I think my gear ratio is 7:1 though. Either way, reel&rod combo are great for the price.
I have a 6'6" med light that's a bit flimsy. A 6' med that's a tad stiff. I finally sound a 6' Pflueger that's med light and you're right, the length/strength combo is great! I have 30 pound braid on everything. As thin as 8 pound mono and I can get myself un-snagged more often! (I also have a 6'6" med that's the other side of the length/strength compromise)

I've used Abu Garcia for years. Finally broke down and bought a Lew's baitcaster this spring. One of the best purchases I've made. Nothing against Abu but I love that new reel.

I've got line spooled and a 1/16 white jig with a blue ice crappie body ready to go. Just haven't had time to get out. I't feel's great when I cast it in the backyard!!!!!!!!!

They are good rods. I have a friend that fishes crappie with them. He’s caught hundreds of crappie in them some of the lew’s speed stick rods he has are 10 years old and still using them.
just got this 6 ft combo today at my wally world . i got a diawa rg-ab 2500 2 years ago and it's been a good reel but it deserved a better rod that the 7 ft ugly GX2 UL . i'm gonna put the diawa reel on this rod and use the reel on the ugly stick . keep on keeping on dude .
Awesome combo just bought one two days ago at Walmart....love it...most of my gear is heavier for cats and saugeye...so this is awesome for catching smaller to medium bait fish....I rigged it with 10lb power pro. SWEET!!
I had one of those combos summer of last year in fact I still use the real, the rod I love for Ned rigging with the 1/10 ounce jig heads. So I have to fully agree with you
Not gonna lie this rod and reel is actually pretty good I just caught a 3 lb and 6lb large mouth bass rocking a wacky rig and it worked like a charm 👍🏻
My local WM had these for a fathers day gift. Told my fiance that I wanted one, but not to worry about it. Went back a few days later and they were gone. I asked where they put them and they said "uh, they were shipped to another store". Whiskey tango foxtrot? I will have one sooner rather than later. I think it'll replace my hank Parker combo, which is an excellent combo, just love the feel of the Xfinity so much more. Glad to see a review before I get one.
Awesome review, I was looking into getting one of those combo's for the small creeks I fish, sounds like it's a good investment and you catch some of the most beautiful fish out of those Creeks very colorful
Awesome video a couple weeks ago I got a brand new spinner reel from Cabela's in Columbus Ohio I got to try it out and got a couple of really good hits at buckeye Lake hopefully I can catch some fish with it and I will also try out my hellgrammites and see if I can catch a bass and some fish on those as well
With my stimulus check I bought the Lews mark rose signature series combo for only $30 at Walmart. First lews I’ve ever owned and at $30 I’m very happy with it. The line that comes pre spooled on it isn’t too bad either. I even caught my PB largemouth bass with it at 5lbs even.

I’ve been playing around with that rod for awhile, 4-6lb seems perfect on it. It casts 5lb k9 braid like a dream. It handled my 3lb smallie very well

I have. 5.5 foot Lew's rod and reel my papaw gave me probably 25- 30 years ago and it's still going strong.

I've got those combos, one came with 8lb mono, I put 10 lb braid on other. I keep one in truck and use both on kayak. great price, nice combos. 🎣👍😎😊🎣

I have that rod and love it. It will sling 30lb braid and 3/8 oz. Chatter bait all weekend from the bank. Definitely worth the tiny price tag.
