I got a very similar black and white tote bag from Target I got for $30 with a cool nature print on it instead of having a huge DIOR banner on the front. I love it and get tons of compliments. I mean, it’s still fast fashion but I’m taking good care of it so it lasts.
If the bag in question was their tote looking thing it would not surprise me one bit… I took a look at this bag up close a few months back and the quality was terrible.
I have never understood the need people have to own branded products. If I need a handbag, I want one that will last me many years. I own exactly one handbag. I had a thrifted okay-ish one for many years, and then one day I found my dream handbag at a craft fair, from a leather worker who makes everything herself from A-Z, in the same country where I live (France). She only works with tanneries in France, too. So I have a really high quality handbag, which is easily repairable should it ever be needed, and which is made from leather that will age well. For 350 €. I have seen some Vuitton or Channel or Dior bags. I am not impressed by them. They are a lot less nice than what I have. And to use the French expression: "they'll cost the skin of your arse."
I am not surprised by this nor will there be much outrage either. This is the very high cost of luxury on so many levels. If it were their tacky vinyl bags, then I could see paying that low but the conditions for the workers are appalling.
