@@GabrielAlves-fw7bj It's not 'a nuke' it's one half of a MINI nuke. The destructive power of those in the actual game is high, but ultimately not much in comparison so say, a satchel of frag mines/grenades. It's really not as much of a big deal as everyone makes it out to be.

I gotta appreciate X6 reaction to this, usually his first thoughts when encountering any kind of weapon or strange object it’s “the institute may find use for this” but when he sees this his mind immediately goes to “nobody must ever complete this.”

I feel like the minutemen are the only ones capable of being deadly without using nuclear armament. Barring the institute exploding, the most dangerous thing the minutemen use are mortars. They only use conventional firearms as well as laser muskets, though I have come across a few minutemen using gauss weaponry.
Nick's reaction felt far more impactful. When I first entered that room (this was with Nick), I thought this was the lair of a would-be bomber, who planned to blow up some public place out of deranged rebelion. My heart pretty much dropped when I pieced that together, combined with Nick's comment, the thought ran through my head of "hol-y shit, that is a dark story," (the kind of dark, untold, interesting background stories I look for in Fallout games). I saw the terminal and thought it was going to be the bomber's manifesto, but no! It turned out to be just a silly story about an angry guy wanting to raze an eletrical tower because he didn't like it.
I mean, I could see Karen's doing that to 5g towers, but they'd be too stupid to make a nuke.
I didn't think it was silly, a deranged conspiracy theorist was building a nuke in his basement to destroy an electrical tower because his loonies ass thought it was a mind control tower. I think the only thing scarier than a sane person with a bomb is a crazy one.
I don't see what the big deal is. It's only a mini nuke. It has an explosion about as powerful as a few hand grenades. Not like the dude is a national-level terrorist threat.
While the story you told is really dark this is a reference to the Unabomber aka a noted domestic terrorist

Actually I would kind of scratch the last one.
The BOS dosent really care for China or communism. The brotherhood was actually "formed" after some army men deserted after finding out of some goverment FEV Experiments on chinese POWs.
Or there is at least no ingame source that states anti chinese or anti communist believes in the brotherhood.
The only "member" of the brotherhood who actually hates communist and chinese is Liberty Prime. And thats only because he was programmed that way before the war and the brotherhood didnt reprogram him because of lack of ressources and to make things easier for them. You dont like a certain group? Make Liberty Prime believe they are communists. Problem solved.

+Dean Kenneth Korstjens He talks lightly about a bigger nuclear warhead that will be used as ammo for Liberty prime, he goes on about ''haven't man done enough damage with these" and then he also accompanied you on a mission to recover a stockpile of them at fort strong to help them, the brotherhood are hypocritical power hungry genocidal psychopaths.
+Dean Kenneth Korstjens Considering they are constantly looking to eliminate all ghouls, super mutants and the like I'd say they are genocidal, they even want to kill friendly super mutants and non feral ghouls, and to top that off they are power hungry, this is because of their constant search for weapons of mass destruction, they got nukes from fort strong, nukes for Liberty prime, and they didn't even get rid of prime at the end, there are no indications that they are there to help other than they want to destroy the institute, and the only reason they want to do that is because the institute are as powerful as them, your character is just there to tip the scales about who would win he battles.

I'm not trying to attack anyone, but I have concerns about anyone, or any organization, who fanatically think that only they are allowed to own something (in this case the tech, weapons and bombs). Which is also true about the Institute as well.

Taking dangerous techs from those who would abuse it was what I (and my character) heard them advertise, and in theory it's all good.
However, and maybe this is just me being overly cynical, what I'm thinking in this case is something along the line 'Who watch the watchers?'
Who would ensure that the BoS themselves won't eventually abuse the tech they've collected? (Because as far as I know, they did their own research as well) And for that matter, how would they decide whether the use of tech/research is still acceptable or in the 'being abused' type, where is the line? Other than the extremes like those on par with creating synth and FEV, of course.
Ah well, that's just my view about it. :) And maybe I'm also still a bit miffed with the BoS because after I decided to end the Institute with the Minuteman instead of the BoS, with the exception of several members, they all got pissed at my SS and keep giving her the third degree whenever she got on Prydwen. XD

you don't know much about the BoS do you? the BoS will go to any lengths to obtain technology from those who don't understand it example being raiders with power armor, the RailRoad with stealh boys, or the institue and synths.

My thoughts are. Yes, it's a mini nuke. But considering the yellow barrels, one which clearly shows the "Radiation" symbol on it, and the parts of the mini nuke disassmbled. My guess? Our companions see the parts, and the barrels of very dangerous stuff. If someone learns how to make a mini nuke.....then scales way up....
Or at least, that's my idea as to why it seems they are talking about a full sized nuke.
+BoomRandom Mini Nukes are something that only the Pre-War American Military knew how to create. This guy was trying to make a miniature nuke before the war. If he had succeeded and made his blueprints public, mini nukes could have been just as easy to create as pipe-pistols or pipe-rifles. That's the scary part.
@@Himihan Also, he could have used the barrels of radioactive material to make a dirty bomb with the same blast radius as a mini nuke but with tons more radiation. Could have made the area around the mind control tower a mini glowing sea.
