I love Opel👍🏻 I am happy that I found your channel. Opels are in general very underrated. They are mostly labeled as "boring“. Especially those from the 90s and early 2000s when Opel was still owned by GM.
I have a selection of MK3 Astras all parts available. 2.0 Sport estate. Late (S reg) CDX Estate interior complete, Remains of a TD Diamond interior etc., P reg TDS estate (Isuzu) and other bits.

My brother owned a 1975 1.6 hatch back from 1 years old after a few weeks the head gasket blew it was fixed under warranty 20y later and 200.2400 miles it blew again my nephew Mechanic trying to fixing but things were badly Warped and Corroded so the car was scrapped we put down to my brother only traveling 2 miles a day back and to work and the weekly shopping trip the was no rust in the body of the car apart from the Untreated stone chips on some panels which never spread much over the years he now owns a 2005 Astra 1.4 after his last car was written off after who had Priority over a bridge my car is a 2015 Astra j 1.6 diesel which I like a lot Especially mpg it Returns
Great video love old Vauxhalls we should save them all, you should use some rust converter and some zinc primer for protection on the chassis rust to preserve it a bit 👌
I had an 1.6 carb astra estate back in 1986... over like three months had three phillips stereos knicked and three door locks replaced.. bad luck comes in threes for sure.. N x
The fan unit you kicked across the floor is for the secondary air injection, it runs the fan blowing air into the exhaust manifold, this is to help light the catalytic converter up quicker, I don’t know the specifics unfortunately. Hope this helps. Great video as always. Steve.
We bought my Nan's 1996 Holden (Opel) Astra City 1.6lt manual with the only option Pop ticked was aircon; for our eldest to learn to drive in. Not long repaired a dodgey timing belt change, NOS radiator, and lots of other small repairs & cleaning. Almost no rust bar battery tray area, working on getting the aircon repaired, and may look at doing a bit of a hotter rebuild on the motor- 100hp (when new) just isnt enough for this FG2 Ford Falcon XR6T owner!

Im still reeling from that seller of the CDX only dropping the bomb over the no heaters no radio situation once you d gone down there.......450 mile! He could have mentioned that before! Meanwhile Kenso had heat n choons in the cosy Vectra.......
I know right. I think he thought I'd pull out the sale and wouldn't have got what it sold for if anyone came to see it. I'd still have bought it but if I'd known I would have brought a radio, more clothes and a fan heater 😂
We have a 1.2 2023 Astra so yes had a radio and heaters. Was the longest drive I've ever been on :). The sensors on the car started playing up when we got to Scotland, went from 14 degrees in Brighton to -1 in Scotland. But OMG the air in Scotland is so much cleaner @@fatwalletboy2
Gotta soft spot for the Mk 3 I had several including a 1.4 auto merit which was saved from the breaker; all it needd was a new fuel pump & all the brakes sorting . it got passed to my sister after her corsa was flooded out in the storms a couple of years back
as per the ecotec bit i had both astra gsi phase 2 c18xel red ecotec and astra sport c18xe and loved both was as nippy as acavalier redtop swap as well
All that stuff has now gone from my work dougie we managed to sell it all but I managed to save the three electric Ariels for the cavaliers if u would like them
I mind hiring a Mk 3 from Melvies and it was shocking, looked like it had been banger racing and I complained as was going a tour around the Highlands, they took it back and gave me a Micra with 14 miles on the clock, when I returned the Micra I had stuck 1400 miles on it and lets say it needed a wash, what a bunch of crooks Melvies were, they were done for clocking cars a few times. Can't be many Belmonts going around.
All the same reasons I didn’t totally love my MK3 1.6.16v GLS, crashy ride, bouncy handling, heavy steering, engine Erving at 3000rmp at 70months in fifth and road noise. Other than that …😆…. Should have got the senator.

These Mk 3 Astra's are a more rare sight on the road than the last of the Cav's these days.

Im from Brighton and have just got back from Perth last week and can confirm its a hell of a drive! Luckily we only had to do one way at a time
And ypu had heaters and a radio!
