I've got to admit I've stopped collecting GW for wargaming. I tend to buy GW miniatures sparsely and only for use with tabletop role-playing games. GW has gotten a bit ridiculous with their pricing. They started using cheaper production materials (plastic instead of white metal/pewter), yet their prices continue to rise. I've enjoyed your work since your early videos. Your tutorial on the Sister of Battle was really nice. I felt really honored that you made out a tutorial I had requested. I plan to stick around til the end. Please keep up the excellent work. You are a great inspiration.
Reaper makes really nice 28mm fantasy minis called bones that i like to paint. they only run like £1.50 or so a figure and the detail is just as good as gamesworkshop.
i agree about the increasing cost of G,W miniatures.......i can recomend reaper metal miniature lines and Darksword miniatures if you still want to continue your hobby.....very nice sculpts available
Sorry to hear you will not be working with the GW stuff any more but I totally understand. The only way I can keep up with AOS is a local hobby store thats really discounted but even then some models that are coming out are just insane in terms of cost and beyond my price range. But as long as you keep painting I will keep watching - you inspire me and many veiwers
Looks great! Can't agree with you more about GW minis. The prices are outrageous. Also, are you diluting your paints? I couldn't tell. Thanks for the great tutorial!
I like what you did with the beard, painting it flesh tone first. Even the flesh color makes a good color for the hair, just needs the right highlights. I leave the flesh colors and highlights blending down into beards and then paint the face hairs with mostly dry brushing. I like this dwarf and the barbarian from this game but it is too comical to my tastes A more realistic version (dwarves are very realistic!) or something close, I would love to paint. / GW is behaving like the banks: desperate for every cent they can get. The stupid thing is that if they just lowered their prices they would make more money. I would only buy their minis from another retailer who puts them on sale or second hand.
I remember back in the day you did some Privateer Press painting videos, does your no new GW plan mean that we may see more PP? Seriously though I can transfer your techniques I learn here onto any miniature range / Paint range (with limited success)
I agree, GW is ridiculous with their prices for miniatures. Boycott. Awesome painting tutorial. Your Dwarf warrior looks great. Thanks for sharing. Bill.
I was wondering the same about donations of gw stuff, like horus heresy, lotr, or aos minis. GP, have you ever seen wild west exodus resin minis? they are awesome, detailed, and fairly priced. Great skirmish game too!!
I hear you on GW's pricing, it's appalling! $45 for one plastic figure?! Their figures and models are cost prohibitive. If you want some fun minis to paint up, check out Hasslefree Miniatures and Guild of Harmony and CMON Minis are great for gaming or display and at a price you can grab!!
Can you paint the dragonborn hero from dungeon saga next (hratth I believe)? I love draconum characters and it would be nice to see a dragon born paint scheme done right!
+N Aldi i don´t think i have this mini you are talking about unless you are speaking of the lizardmen. check my unboxing videos for what dungeon saga minis i actualy have ;-)
+GirlPainting He is the Salamander character/lizardmen character that was an extra kickstarter mini. I think you used him to judge Valendor's scale in a previous video. He is just such a great miniature!
+JenK's PLAYSEA yes, you can use the varnish as you please. it has no visabilety what so ever, has no icing problems like a spray varnish might have and protects the colour coat quite well.
completely agree alex. gw have finally outpriced their own game, but there are a lot more affordable miniatures games out there now. i myself have just purchased prodos alien vs predator the hunt begins. mantics new stuff is very nice, and warlords products. 40k is just too much money now.
Your skin is showing some serious chemical wear from the erosion that paint thinners contain even in their fumes. You might want to consider wearing nitrile gloves. It'll protect your hands, and save those of us with OCD from having mental breakdowns at the paradox that you can paint miniatures so perfectly well but then have chipped nail polish! :P
What happened to the voting you did 2 months ago? You gave us a chaos warrior a SM and a sigmarite lord to choose for your next tutorial, why are you painting this dwarf instead?
Im glad you wont support GW. They are so ridiculous now with their prices. Any video GP dishes out, ill happily watch with phone in right hand and tea in the left
+John Ellison for the donation plan i have patreon and a paypal account. but miniature donations on their own have now real chance of beeing painted by me. i honnestly can´t paint annything that i don´t realy whant to paint. but don´t worry, i´ll still make videos and here and there paint a gw miniature i have still laying around here ;-)
Of which you must have hundreds so I will rest easy! I'm actually looking forward to seeing some warlord models painted but regards mantic the sculpts just don't feel mature enough yet. It feels like your having to 'paint in the detail'. They are just in a place GW was years ago and very excited to see how they grow. Regards patron I've already got you covered there. Really loved your recent unboxings of Dungeon Saga. Please keep up the great work.
I have to say im only really interested in the GW stuff. This tutorial I'm afraid to say was not much more than 'polishing a turd'. For me to stay subscribed though, I need to see some GW tutorials. I understand that they can't all be GW, that's fine. But if none of them are then I won't be staying as it's just not what I'm into.
very relaxing to listen to.
Great full painting tutorial from the solid color primer to the clear varnish protecting the painted figure at the end.

Awesome video! You always do a really good job!
Just got my copy of Dungeon Saga! Are you planning on doing any more tutorials for the minis?

Nice work as always. Mantic make some good mini's, I bought a load of Mantic Zombies in 2011 after watching your spiffy Tut. ;)

Really enjoy your tutorials. Any chance of you doing the other Dungeon Saga Heroes, perhaps the Mage?
Looks great! Can't agree with you more about GW minis. The prices are outrageous.

Since the new Star Wars movie is coming would it be possible to paint a Star Wars character like Boba feet, Han Solo etc
+Eric Fiedler sorry but i don´t have such minis at hand
Amazing!!! =)

the hammer should have been dripping with blood....imo:)
If You wan't to give GW a chance, there are Sites that give you 20% off, always ^^
didn't surprise me...

I understand why you wouldn't want to pay what GW asks for now but are you still open to donations of GW stuff for unboxings and painting?

Painting your skin is an ugly and dirty habit... shouldn't tell you about licking the brush then...
